Arkansas State is our next game and it won't be easy. They had a top 20 RPI last time I checked and they beat Georgetown. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we lose

I agree they're a good team, but I think we win. They're not top 100 in kenpom, and I'm pretty sure every team we've lost to is top 100.

I think we'll win too, but I thought we'd win every game up to this point and we've lost half of them so what do I know

Ok well lets talk about the positives

Collin Sexton had 33 points and 9 rebounds tonight in 22 minutes. He hit 21-24 FTs.

He's gonna stick out like a sore thumb hitting FTs like that

Just randomly thinking this morning:

Next year should tell us everything we need to know about how good of a coach Avery is and what direction this program is headed. I've seen some people say well next year our new guys will be young so don't expect much....no. You bring in talent that Kentucky and Kansas missed on and there better be results immediately. Kentucky and Kansas get these kind of recruits and win championships with freshmen. I'm not saying we have to go win a championship but we better at least win a game in the tourney next year, AT LEAST. I really expect them to make a tourney run next year. We can't look at next year and say "they're young, don't expect too much". We have one year with Sexton and probably one with Petty, then they're gone. Need to see very good results next year. This SHOULD be our last bad year. I can deal with suffering this year if it means we start having some fun next year. #BuckleUp

I will add - per KenPom (which is ranking actual play of the team, not their record or their resume, but the actual team itself based on performance)..........this team is better than last years team. Better on defense, slightly worse on offense and better overall

2016 : 96th overall, 318th tempo, 48th D-eff, 164th O-eff

2017 : 83rd overall, 296th tempo, 41st D-eff, 179th O-eff

2016 was 19th in "luck", which is basically the difference between KenPom's expected result and the actual result.

2017 is 322nd in luck.

So, last year we probably weren't quite as good as our record and this year we are probably better than our record so far.

I've been pretty sour on the team's performance thus far, but on a positive note: Clemson is a good team at full strength. Even with as shitty as we played and Clemson hitting 3's with hands in their faces, we still made things somewhat interesting towards the end. I'm not completely ready to give up on the season. Really all that's missing is some chemistry and a go-to scorer.

As strange as it sounds, I'm here too. Dave's numbers pretty much validated what I've been feeling when comparing this team to last year.

Chemistry was great in 2015-16, but it always felt like they were playing above their heads and the wheels could fall of at any moment - which unfortunately happened the last week of February and first week of March.

This team is the reverse side of that coin. They 'feel' a lot better than they're playing and if they figure it out soon enough they have the players to make life hard on a whole lot of teams in the conference.

Well, three of our best players right now are Key, Hall, and Ingram. Key being a TF, and Ingram essentially being a freshmen still after missing most of last year.

I think it's okay to expect players like Sexton and Petty to have a major impact.

Yeah that's what I mean. Players like Sexton and Petty should help produce immediate success. This year is a bunch of young guys and transfers

We're a 6 point favorite tomorrow according to ESPN.

I just don't see us winning by 6......or even winning. I hope I'm wrong tho

This article says Avery Jr, Key, and Dazon were vocal and showed leadership in practice after the Clemson game. That may or may not mean anything but it's good to hear. Also says we're 500 tickets away from a sellout for tomorrow. LINK

I hate "sell out" basketball games. Half the seats go empty as season ticket holders refuse to bother coming in

Friend in Auburns AD marketing said it is a huge problem at most SEC schools. They basically have to beg people to just stubhub/donate them

Yeah this is definitely a problem at Bama. Idk if the game will be different tomorrow because it's a neutral site.
