One of Clemson's major transfers actually went down with an injury vs UGA.
Mitchell had a small meniscus issue supposedly, if it is minor he could return in 2-4 weeks easy.
They get TAMU transfer & top 50 recruit Elijah Wood is eligible in December as well after sitting out. He has a high talent ceiling
Last year we won at Clemson 51-50.
I wouldn't discount Clemson, their weakness last year was guard play and they improved significantly. They will have transfers Marquise Reed, Shelton Mitchell and Scott Mitchell. All 3 are significant improvements over starters last year
If Mitchell's knee is still bugging him + your post players have good games this game is going to be a good one.

Texas is definitely young and inexperienced and they struggled with some little team the other day.
Objectively, Texas is a more talented team and Shaka Smart is a better college basketball coach. He is relying on a ton of youth and has some question marks though, game is very winnable

Oregon did lose to Baylor
It was a road game, which is a pretty key point.
Oregon hasn't lost a home game since 2014 vs #7 Arizona

Bo Ryan recruited like that at Wisconsin and still did well in the B10. And still had shut down defenses.
I was begging for Grant to do something like that. He wanted to run a similar half-court offense with a tenacious defense, but could never figure it out.

Alabama isn't beating Oregon. I would love it, but their loss to Baylor had a lot to do with one of the best players in the country, Dillon Brooks, being out due to injury. Also Lecomte and Motley for Baylor shot a combined 14/24 from the field for 35 points.
Alabama can beat Texas and Clemson.

For quality coaches, it is a consistent winning strategy. Look at Oklahoma whose top recruit under Kruger is only like #35 or Gonzaga just in general
It is extremely difficult to pull off for schools who are trying to pull themselves up from a bad spot
-Coaches w/ exceptional/top tier development ability
-Coaches who are great talent/character evaluators
-Time to wait for recruits to become upperclassmen
-Extended time to build program culture
-Patient fans/athletic director
A lot safer to go the Bobby Bowden bring in talent and maybe they will develop at some point
If you pull in people who can recruit like Pearl/Johnson/Howland, to be competitive all you really need is a few evaluations to hit as if playing battleship.

I don't think so either. You don't win at Oregon right now and their talent is absurd.

I agree these are definitely winnable. Individually I'd lean towards a loss in both, but I don't htink you lose both.
While I think Avery is making big strides forward, I think ya'll are a year away still. I imagine the team playing 2nd half of SEC will be drastically improved
ETA
For the record, I feel similarly about Auburn. Early games look extremely promising, it isn't a complete enough team to win without a MarshalL Henderson type "Team on my back" player

Arkansas State is killing Georgetown 48-29.
Don't we play them in Huntsville?

I'm a big Georgetown fan, they are missing arguably their best player rsSR Bradley Hayes plus the rest of their team are new pieces
They'll improve down the stretch..... hopefully

Yep, can't wait. Tickets in the dresser drawer
Gtown will probably make a push late. Even if they don't you can't judge a team by 1 game in basketball...it's why the have 30+
Mich St. lost to Southern Univ and went to the final 4 I believe last year.
ETA: just looked it up, was Texas southern..swac champs

I'm an SEC basketball fan
If you read my posts in this thread, I've been pretty complimentary towards AJ/Your team and future.Trolling is for rant only, team boards are sacred
I stick to the basketball thread only and sort of expect removal after bball season. I want to be able to talk quality basketball about Bama wiTh Busey

How are you a Georgetown fan? I don't have anything against them, just interested to know. They had some great years under John Thompson in the 80s

Our girls team is up 45-3 over Lipscomb at the half

Moms whole family went there, grandfather was a professor and one of the basketball team doctors during Thompson years.
I was set to go but then got The $60k/yr estimate cost of attendance
Fun fact, I chose Auburn over Alabama because the full ride for Auburn had an extra $500 for a laptop
Posted on 11/17/16 at 9:21 pm to GenesChin
You get the laptop now at Bama too haha

Question for any of the basketball enthusiasts in here. I remember watching some of the good Bama teams in the late 90s and early 00s. I've never been an avid follower of all CBB though, so I don't consider myself qualified to answer this.
Would the AP/coaches naming a national champion at the end of the regular season add more intrigue to some of the games at the end of the season, or would it just be pointless and hurt the tournament's importance?

Auburn and Alabama both offered a laptop, Auburn offered like $1k vs Bama $500
What has attendance looked like for Bama home games thus far?

That sounds like a terrible idea.

This. The tournament often times exposes conferences. Naming a NC based off >50% conferences games would basically hand it to a ACC/Big12/Pac12/Kentucky winner every year
