No offense but this is bologna and not even worth talking about right now. How many TF 6'2" lottery pick combo guards can you name? Any "scout" that thinks he is is feeding you a line. Coaches are encouraging him to stay 2 years right now. That could change depending on what happens but we'll have to see.

How many 6'2" guards led the EYBL or Super 64 in scoring by 10 ppg and were MVP for the US U17 team? Draft Express and NBA Draft Room have him as a late 2018 lottery pick.
To be fair though, you're right. I couldn't find a single one under 6'3" regardless of age. Some guys' heights seem inaccurate though. There is no way Damien Lillard is 6'3"

Yea, DE at #7 and Draft Room at #11

The Draft Express write up has a line that gives me a chubbie, especially considering our program so badly needs someone like this, led alone an elite talent who can do it

Bad news guys. Teamrankings.com dropped this year's Final 4 chances from 0.1% to 0.0% after losing to Kentucky

so do I get my 100K bet back from Vegas?

Is it better to play a cupcake OOC schedule? I know people will say you need resume building wins, but look at Arkansas. They have the same conference record as us. The only reason they have more overall wins is because they played a very weak OOC schedule, and right now Joe Lunardi has them in.

I don't think so. We saw what happened to South Carolina last year. Arkansas wasn't tested early and now they're strugggling lately in a weak SEC. There's a good chance they won't make the tourney

If South Carolina played a good OOC conference schedule last season I'm not sure they would've even been on the bubble though. They went 11-7 in a terrible SEC (much worse than this year's), so they probably would've lost to any good teams they played out of conference.

OT slightly but it looks like the Gottfired experiment is coming to an end in Raleigh. Stop me if you've heard this before: some good early years, program now in a downward death spiral, turmoil, players interacting with fans from the bench, players half-assing it during games, administration not happy, yadda, yadda.
Some people never learn.

No. The schedule was about right this year. You've got to have those challenging early season games to not only build a tourney resume but to ready your team for conference play.
Consider football. I'm firmly convinced that Saban's habit of scheduling a tough OOC opponent away from home as a season opener helps Bama a great deal in a lot of intangible ways. Hoops is the same way.
The schedule isn't the reason Bama's off the bubble. The reason is that they couldn't close a couple of those OOC games that were there for the taking.
Flip Dayton and Texas and we're talking about nailing down a good seed down the stretch. Replace Dayton and Texas with Alabama State and Troy and we're further away from the dance than we are right now.

quote:Last was probably Brandon Jennings (1 yr removed from HS). Not many 6'2 guys, but several 6'3 guys that went lottery fit this description. 3/4 of an inch (technically he's 6'2.25") doesn't make that much of a difference, especially when he posted a very impressive 6'7.5" wingspan. Most scouts care more about wingspan and standing reach anyways.

Yeah, and their fans want Archie Miller. Man Gottfried could be a good HC if he wanted. His desire and commitment to sustaining success seems to drop off once he reaches the high point of his tenure. His teams always lose focus, can't play a lick of defense, have poor shot selections, and implode late in games.

This. If also just close out and beat Dayton, Valpo, and Texas, we'd be alright right now. Hopefully with the talent coming in next year, we'll be able too.

I wasn't saying it was the reason we're not on the bubble. I'm just saying I don't get why Arkansas deserves to be in
