Athletic but has a lot of skill refinement before he can be a huge offensive contributor without being set up well. He probably isn't going to be a legit scoring option early

With his length/athleticism he has potential to be a great rotational defender and rebounder from the wings

SEC officiating is absolutely horrible. They make the games unwatchable at times. The home teams regularly shoot more fts than the visitor. I don't understand how this hasn't been addressed

There aren't SEC officials in basketball

We are undefeated in 4 OT games.

Our new strategy is to make teams play our long game

He can shoot, so next year he will probably be a 3 and D role player. I don't expect anything more.

Jones has a solid looking shot but he has never shot 3s at a high %. Has something changed

Granted, shooting 35% 3FG when open would look like Steph Curry compared to what y'all put out right now

When they give him a play off the ball, he shoots it pretty well. You have to remember Hale County plays him as their ball handler because they don't have any other scorers. A lot of his attempts are transition jump shots. He won't be taking any of those here.

My analysis is based on 1.5 games, so he could be a horrendous shooter and just had a good night

ETA: There's some serial down voter in here.

Yea, he'll only be asked to take fade away jumpers at the buzzer here.

That's a fair point. I definitely think he has potential to be a 3pt shooter, I just think it would take a year or two before it is a trusted part of his game. I imagine FR year Jones/Reese fill the high energy D role player, lucky if you get consistent O production.

Super important role to play without much praise. You don't win without those guys, just like at UGA failing despite Frazier/Manten duo

Any expectations for Herb Jones next year? 6-7 and 183lbs. DraftExpress says he has a 6-10 wingspan.

I wouldn't expect too much his first year, but I've heard the staff is extremely excited about him. A lot of potential. The 6-10 wingspan pretty much just means he has a slightly above average wingspan for his height.

The obvious 2 immediate contributors from this class is Sexton and Petty, but I see Reese playing some pretty major minutes too. A big man that can shoot as well as he does should help open up the offense. His size will allow him to play some 5 which will allow us to have some killer spacing that we haven't had since Green graduated. If his shot translates to the next level, it would be huge for us.

He didn't win anything. Avg about 3.5ppg, 4rpg and 1.5blocks pg. When he left Ohio State, he was an extremely athletic rim defender and that was about it. Giddens had zero post game and posed no threat of creating his own scoring.

His upside is NBA lotto, when he showed up though he was the definition of a major project. How good Avery&Co are at teaching post up game will be huge in how much he can contribute

College basketball transfers are pretty unpredictable. I mean all of them juco, grad, and regular transfers.

When we got him, espn had a list of either 600 or 900 transfers (there were an unbelievable amount of transfers) and Giddens was ranked #2. That ranking may not mean anything but I think he has potential.
