So I think the new goal of the season is to beat Auburn in the SECT and then beat them again in the NIT finals at MSG.

ALABAMA VS AUBURN IN THE GARDEN BABY. IRON BOWL OF BASKETBALL ON BROADWAY AND SHITE.

If you told me before this stretch
@UGA
Miss State
@Arkansas
Auburn
@South Carolina
Kentucky

we'd go 3-3, I would've taken it. I still think we suck, but I'll take it

Yep - my goal was to go 2-2 over the last 4, but it was really to avoid 0-4. After Auburn I was sure of 0-4, but tonight was pleasant surprise.

I'd also like to add, while we looked awful on offense tonight, KenPom ranks South Carolina as the #1 defense in the country. Not in the SEC, in America. They are really, really, really good on defense.

I agree. I just really hate to lose. I hate losing.

Worst Case scenario
UK - L
@ Mizzou - W
LSU - W
UGA - L
@ A&M - L
Ole Miss - L
@ UT - L

16-14 (9-9)

Probable scenario
UK - L
@ Mizzou - W
LSU - W
UGA - W
@ A&M - L
Ole Miss - W
@ UT - L

18-12 (11-7)

Best Case scenario
UK - W
@ Mizzou - W
LSU - W
UGA - W
@ A&M - W
Ole Miss - W
@ UT - L

20-10 (11-5)

Can't imagine losing out or winning out. Probably would need "best case scenario" to get on the bubble going into the SECT. Probable scenario probably gives us a 2/3 seed in the NIT and at least 1 home game.

Ya... hard to see a coach deserving of praise for beating a team that shot 25% from the floor despite a lot of open looks

The credit goes to guys like Norris, BabyAvery and Davis. Norris deserves shite but his hustle was the difference, Davis/Babevry combined for 8/17 3PT and 42 pts overall

According to TeamRanks, to be on the safe side the bubble you likely need to end the year (w Tourney) with 21 wins

Yea - it was not a well coached game. However, with our limited offensive options playing against that defense........there wasn't a lot to draw up that was going to look good.

I will give Avery credit for instilling mental toughness in these guys. We like to joke and mess about blowing games, but this team from Day 1 last year had a different competitive toughness about them than any of Grant's teams (and clearly Gottfried's). That's all from Avery.

But yea, they just didn't quit grinding. Sounds like a cliché, but easily could have given in multiple times (I SURE AS HELL DID).

Yea - we aren't going to get into the tournament. That's fine. We shouldn't, we'd probably embarrass ourselves.

I'd feel ok with 18-19 wins and a few NIT games.

If we didn't have anyone who could cover sinadarious Thornwell, who can't shoot and was 1-7 from 3, then the scoreboard is going to blow up after Malik Monk gets a hold of us.

Also best case scenario we lose to Tennessee? I still stand by U.K. being that team. Tennessee is hot but they don't have the athletes to keep that up.

I think his point was that there isn't a scenario you win out and the best of the 7-1 is with a U.K. Win

Arbitrarily just picked another decent team on the road as the loss

Exactly.

We could beat Tennessee, but I doubt we beat Tennessee, Kentucky, A&M, Georgia and Ole Miss.

According to Cal, Kentucky is having a three hour practice today. Our guys are getting the day off.

I was really hoping UK would beat LSU by 40. Now we are their bounce back game.

I don't think we have enough offensive firepower to beat Kentucky, even in their current state, but they are well beyond a rough patch. They just aren't very good right now.

Their last 5
@ Tennessee : L 82-20
vs Kansas : L 79-73
vs Georgia : W 90-81 (OT)
@ Florida : L 88-66
vs LSU : W 92-85

But, don't worry, I'm sure they'll take us to the woodshed.

Sure - I do too - I just kind of used them as the constant.

It should have been more like

Best Case : 6-1 (20-10, 13-5)
Probable : 4-3 (18-12, 11-7)
Worst Case : 2-5 (16-14, 9-9)

I mean, on the flip side, I think we could very well lose at Missouri too.

Well, he just beat a top 25 team on the road in 4 OTs with Dazon, Corban, Braxton, and Taylor fouling out. So I think he deserves a little bit of praise.

Thornwell only shot 36% from the floor and 14% from deep. And a lot of his free throws came from phantom calls. (Ex. one possession late in the overtimes he two handed shoved donta in the back for an offensive board and then got "fouled" on the putback." He shot 33 free throws (same as Alabama's team did. He also turned it over 6 times compared to 2 assists.

Seems pretty lame for the SEC twitter account and tons of other folks lauding it as one of the best individual efforts of all time.
