I can't think of Stars Fell on Alabama without thinking of one of the more famous Vernisms of the last few years. 2009 SEC Championship Game:
Verne: About the time this league started in the 30s a man named Frank Perkins wrote a tune with lyrics by Mitchell Parish....it was called "Stars Fell on Alabama." We're inside, we can't see them, but I'll bet the state is trying to see them tonight.
Gary: Well...they could also rephrase this a little too, Verne: "SABAN Fell on Alabama."
Verne: HA-HA!
