I've been biting my tongue, wanting to buy into Coach DeBoer's humble, Andy Griffith-from-Dakota demeanor. But I've reached my breaking point on two fronts that, to me, symbolize a deeper problem.

First, his sideline attire is already legendary for its sloppiness. But worse is what he did to Coach Saban's office. He transformed that dignified, graceful space... a place thick with the air of legend and folklore ... into something resembling an assistant manager's office at a neighborhood Walmart, furnished with particleboard junk that looks like it came from Temu.

Realizing the extent of his cluelessness regarding the magnitude of this assignment, I now see these actions as tantamount to unleashing a baboon in a clerical collar into the Sistine Chapel. The man simply doesn't understand this program. He never felt the awe of what came before him.

Even Bill Curry, for all his deficiencies, understood where he was and the gravity of the legacy he was attempting to uphold.

This fundamental disconnect is now showing on the field. That doesn't look like an Alabama team. They look slow-footed, soft, and uninspired. If they're going to play like that, they should change the uniforms—make them wear all black.

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.
