Well I'm not saying those things are unique to the current time and place. I'm saying that greed and a hunger for fame and power have historically been considered moral failings, and are now considered aspirational by a significant segment of the population. Truly, I think if you had the entire football team watch the movie Wall Street you'd end up with at least 20 of them thinking Gordon Gekko is the hero. And I don't necessarily blame them for that when they've been conditioned by the world they live in to view success as the accumulation of wealth and the path to that success as self aggrandizement and attention seeking thanks to social media and influencer culture. Throw in plenty of even greedier shithead cousins/brothers/uncles/fathers acting as "agents" and here we are.

My wife is right. Why not just let them go straight from high school to the NFL or at least let them do one and done? The only difference between the NCAA and the NFL now is the NFL has way more structure and is run like a true business. The current NCAA circus is unsustainable and even if it is sustainable, the same 10 or so teams from the Big 10 and the Texas schools are the only ones that can play this game for any length of time.
