I just finished watching the Bama vs UGA replay and 32 and 30 didn't do much in that game. unusual to see Bama lbers not creating problems for the other team.

Mac and Moses both need to get a lot better and more physical in the run game before they even think about the NFL.

Why? The NFL is a passing league now and both of them project to be good-great coverage linebackers in the NFL. Literally Mack is still being considered a top 2 round talent because of his athleticism/ability to cover.

He has struggled having to be the signal caller, but if he got drafted he wouldn't need to call signals and thus would be able to play in the defense. Same with Moses.

Now obviously I'm glad it appears he is coming back, but run stopping is not a priority anymore.

To be a great NFL LB you have to do both well. Stopping the run is still a priority, and Mac and Moses are both really bad at shedding blocks and stuffing gaps. Neither of them would be 1st rounders this year, even if Moses were eligible. It almost makes me wonder about Golding coaching ILBs as we’ve always had great ILB play until this year.

I think we will see a significant jump with Dylan Moses next season. He's only been playing the position for three seasons. Reuben Foster looked lost quite a bit in 2015 and was an absolute stud the next season. Just takes time for the light to come on for some guys.

Golding was outside linebackers. Tosh is ILB. Also you are ignoring the fact that this is their first year getting meaningful snaps at ILB. Normally we have much more experience there and instead we have two first time starters, one who is calling the defense which as we saw with Holcombe can really hinder your ability to just play the position. Normally we have a second year starter calling the defense so they have more comfort and aren't thrown into the deep end.

Edit: I'm wrong Golding is inside.

Moses looks to me like he could stand to add about 10 lbs of muscle to his upper body. He looks almost like a big safety right now. Mac has the right build but is out of position a lot and isn’t physical enough to play through blocks. He needs a big year in 2019 to play himself into a 1st round pick. He’d do well to spend less time posting pics of himself on social media and more time in the film room.

That is such a weird thing people here like to point to. Social media has nothing to do with how much time and effort one is putting into the position. Mack absolutely improved over the course of this season and then got confused against the Georgia offense that game planned to confuse the two first year linebackers.

I agree he didn't play well, hell he played pretty poorly until the 4th quarter, but that isn't the same thing as somehow not putting in time or effort just because he has a social media presence.

That’s incorrect. Go watch any practice video. Tosh is always with the OLBs. Golding with the inside backers.

You're right, I swear I read that he was supposed to be outside linebackers, but that's what I get for not checking.

I honestly don't think you can evaluate Golding based upon two first year players ability to perform one of the hardest positions in CFB especially in a Nick Saban defense. Mack and Moses made big strides overall throughout the season, still not great, but one bad game against an offense that specifically schemed against them and savion doesn't mean that Golding hasn't had a positive impact upon their development.

I’m fine with a social media presence. Damien Harris and other do it well. None of them are on it half as much as Mac is though. He literally makes graphics of himself and posts them all the time. He also trash talks other teams and then gets his butt whipped by said teams. He strikes me as very immature and unfocused. I’m really surprised Saban hasn’t shut that down. I’m pulling for him to make great strides in the next year and live up to his potential.
