They said last week that SMU could “potentially” drop behind Alabama with a loss. That doesn’t guarantee that they will, but IMO, their intentions are plain: The strong SEC is getting 4 teams, including the marquee team of Alabama, and the pathetic ACC is getting one. It will NOT include a two loss SMU having lost their only 2 games vs ranked teams. Not even highly ranked.

UGA was knocked out of the playoffs last year losing to Alabama in the SECCG.
