I guess I’m the only one generally happy with these hires

On Rees, I feel the exact same way I did when we hired McElwain. Excited that we were going back to a physical brand of offense after Applewhites chunk and duck offense. People forget or underestimate the impact a physical offense can have on the defense. Ours and the opponents.

I was hoping for a hot shot DC, but I think Steele was a result of not being able to hire Pruitt yet. And I think he is a solid defensive coordinator that will cut down significantly on the mistakes we’ve seen over the past several years. And with the offense holding the ball longer (we were 80th in possession let play last year), we won’t be as gassed going into the 4th quarter. Time of possession has a huge impact on defensive performance.

And even with the rule changes, physical football wins more
Often than not. It’s not a coincidence that the big 12 hasn’t won a CFP game and that Georgia has won back to back. With Alabamas talent and a return to fundamentals (started last year imo with hiring Kentuckys offensive line coach), I’m excited about the direction.

Will be an interesting spring and fall for sure. I see the vision for an overall complimentary style. We'll see if it works out.
