I guess I don't see what all of this is based on other than just "a feeling." He had one good throw against South Florida last year, but beyond that he didn't do anything special in meaningful moments. On Saturday he threw just as many passes as Milroe did, completed two fewer, for 144 fewer yards. He definitely proved that he can run the football in garbage time, however.
Do I think Ty Simpson might have more upside than Milroe? Yes. But he hasn't shown me anything to support that conclusion other than his star-ranking coming out of high school.

I’m not sure why this game is even brought up any more. He’s got 72 passes on film, and only 9 of them were thrown against USF (he completed 5 of those for 70+ yards).
To me, it looks like he’s got a faster release, and I don’t think anyone would argue that he doesn’t have better awareness & makes faster reads. He’s a true dual threat QB as well.

He looks so much different, better than he did against USF. He looks much better using his legs now. I agree with you they are his best weapon.

Because that is the only game he has played any meaningful snaps and those nine passes have been the only meaningful passes he has thrown in his career at Alabama thus far. The other 63 have come with a comfortable lead with both sides playing their back-ups.
