First we have the debacle of nearly breaking his neck with the Gatorade cooler in 09. Last year and this year he didn't get whacked, but you can still tell it is not a pleasant experience for him. You can tell he doesn't like it.

Another clue that he doesn't is because that's what he fricking said:

“It’s cold, it’s sticky, but I appreciate not getting hit in the head with the bucket. That was an improvement,” Saban said.

So, what to do here? Well, the Gatorade bath has become too cliche, and it's time we go old-school. If we win another title in 2013, I propose we do one of these:

Why does no one do this anymore? Would be awesome to see Saban up there. Get the word out to the team for next year. Ditch the cold, sticky, and cliche Gatorade bath and just put the damn man on your shoulders.

Thanks for your time and Roll Tide.

Now that you mention it, it would have been awesome to see a combo DJ, BJ, and Chance carrying Coach Saban on their shoulders following their final games at Alabama.

I doubt that is extremely comfortable as well. What I want the next tradition to be is to bust that crystal ball and give a piece to all the players. Then just get e replacement like last year.

Didn't some older coach get a hip injury once being carried off the field? Maybe, the practice ended when something bad happened.

Of course one of these days, some old coach will have a heart attack when he gets the cold shock of his life from a tub of gatorade.

Bobby Bowden never got the gatorade bath because they were worried they would kill him.

But pneumonia comes from a viral or bacterial infection, not from being cold. What could actually happen with someone elderly is hypothermia or a heart attack.

Death
Allen's death may have been indirectly caused by a Gatorade shower. He died on December 31, 1990, from ventricular fibrillation in his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, at the age of 72. Shortly before his death, Allen noted that he had not been feeling well since some of his Long Beach State players dumped a Gatorade bucket filled with ice water on him following a season-ending victory over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on November 17, 1990 (he remarked that the university couldn't afford actual Gatorade).
The sports editor of the Long Beach State newspaper, the Daily Forty-Niner, was on the field that day and recalled that the temperature was in the 50s with a biting wind. Allen stayed on the field for media interviews for quite a while in his drenched clothing, and boarded the bus back to Long Beach State soaking wet. However, he had promised a winning season to a football program on the verge of collapse, and in his final game delivered on his promise. His players gleefully hoisted him on their shoulders as photographers snapped away, and Allen went out a winner. Allen said his season at Long Beach State was the most rewarding of his entire career.[6]
After his death, the soccer and multipurpose field area on the lower end of campus was dedicated in his honor, George Allen Field. A youth baseball field in Palos Verdes Estates is also named after him.
