Schools can afford to be more impatient. HS recruiting is not what it used to be. A school will place more emphasis on the GM. It’s the way it works in the NFL. That’s why you see so many retreads getting coaching jobs. You can hire a true coach and let others worry about personnel.

Also, because of the portal opening with a head coaching change, you better be sure you want to fire the guy.

If you fire your coach while the portal is already open, does the 30 day window run concurrently or do they get 30 days in addition to the regular portal?
