This class will be epic
It's always kept in the 2nd post of this thread. It's updated often and so I post it again in a regular post like that just to let everyone know.

We could have 19 4 stars, 6 5 stars and a kicker.

Why Alabama no longer leads for one of its top 2019 targets
quote:
Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with one of Alabama’s top inside linebacker targets.
How Christian Harris‘ LSU offer changed his recruitment
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Christian Harris named Alabama his leader last Sunday after visiting Tuscaloosa for the first time. As recruiting goes, lots can change in a week.
Harris, a 4-star athlete from University Lab (Baton Rouge, La.), picked up two major offers last week from two of his dream schools: Florida State and LSU. The latter is the one Alabama should be wary about.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect was offered by the hometown Tigers last Thursday after speaking with Ed Orgeron on the phone. The offer left Harris speechless.
“I’ve grown up an LSU fan all of my life,” Harris told SEC Country on Sunday at the Pylon 7v7 National Qualifier in Cartersville, Ga. “I’ve always wanted to play at LSU. It kind of opened things up for me. I’m sitting back and looking at all of my options now. I was just tuned in on Alabama. I almost committed, and now I have LSU and Florida State, which is another one of my dream schools.”
Harris, one of the Tide’s most important inside linebacker targets, did almost commit to Alabama last Sunday but held off because his father didn’t accompany him on his visit. The Tide staff want Harris to be one of the leaders of this class, but he said a decision will not likely come until the start of the summer now that he has offers from Florida State and LSU.
“I love Alabama, but, yeah, I’m just sitting back and looking at all of my options now,” Harris said. “Everyone is equal.”
While it’s clear that those two schools have Harris’ attention, he did say that once his father came back to town last Friday, one of the first things he did was tell him about why he likes Alabama so much.
Another plus for the Tide: Harris’ mother fell in love with Alabama on their visit last week, and Harris has her blessing if he were to pick the school. Alabama’s focus on developing players off the field is another important factor.
“They really care about the players there,” Harris said. “They have like over 100 tutors and individual tutors. Where they do tutoring is down the hall from the dorms, so it’s not like you have to make a far walk. They care about your life outside of football.”
Alabama, Florida State, Texas and Texas A&M are the schools Harris is considering for official visits this spring. LSU likely won’t get one because he lives in Baton Rouge, so there’s no need to use one of his five allotted visits to that school.
It will be an interesting decision for Harris if his choice comes down to the SEC West rivals. Alabama wants him at inside linebacker, while LSU is recruiting him at its F-back, which is essentially a hybrid of fullback, tight end and wide receiver.
Harris hasn’t decided if he wants to play on defense or offense yet, but it likely will swing his decision to either school when he does.
“Alabama puts a lot of linebackers into the league, and if I go there to play linebacker, there’s a chance I can go to the league,” Harris said. “I also like playing offense, too, so it’s going to be a tough decision that I have to make soon.”
Harris has been one of the hottest recruits in the country these past few weeks, so it begs the question as to why the school located 15 minutes from his home hadn’t offered him until this past week.
Orgeron brought it up to Harris and his mother when he was offered and said LSU takes a while when it comes to offering in-state recruits.
“Coach O said that when he offers in-state guys that he wants them to commit 100 percent,” Harris said. “They 100 percent want you when they offer and there’s no way they’re going to pull your offer.”
The LSU offer has quelled Alabama’s momentum with Harris, and what he said about the allure of playing for the Tigers is something the Tide can’t offer.
“All of my family and friends can easily go see me play,” Harris said. “That’s something I’ve always wanted. Alabama isn’t that far, but it’s like a 5-hour drive. It’s a lot on my parents. It would be easier on them if I went to LSU.”
Alabama’s other inside linebacker targets include 5-star Mississippi prospect Nakobe Dean, 4-star in-state prospect Vonta Bentley and junior college prospect Lakia Henry.

His silent commitment didn't last very long.

I just want to say how much I appreciate the posters on this board for keeping it real. I read through threads on BOL and the blind homerism is so fricking pathetic it makes me want to puke.

I don't think Harris was a silent commit. I think it was like he said; that he wanted too, but felt he needed his father's buy in first. I think we've still got a pretty good shot with him, but I think the staff should make his recruitment more open for him to potentially playing WR/HB, DB or LB.
Nakobe Dean and Vonta Bentley are prototype Bama ILBs. Harris plays WR and CB now. He's amazingly fast and fluid for his size. I think he could be a beast at Nickel, Dime or Safety, or at WR/HB/FlexTE. I sure hope we can land him.
Harris has Momma's blessing for him to choose Bama, which should help. And he does know and look up some to Dylan Moses, who played at the same HS before transfering to IMG for his senior year. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic that we're still in it pretty well for him.

I hope we can land him too, but after that interview you posted I'm not optimistic.
Having said that if LSU goes 7-5 their class will suffer tremendously and we'll reap the benefits.

I hate that shite with a passion. And if you're critical, they call you an idiot or a bad fan. To me, it's worse to be blind than it is to be critical of things.

BOL is the worst when it comes to it too.
Yes, Tim Watts is the standard when it comes to predicting who will sign with Alabama, but that shouldn't extend to the posters on the site, yet it does in their eyes.
The internet is an endless ocean of information. It's okay if scoop comes from somewhere else, but don't tell them that over there.

Have you (or anyone) seen/heard anything about Bama actively recruiting ILB Shane Lee? He is highly rated and he's from St. Frances Academy, Eyabi Anoma's school. So, I had assumed Bama is after him. But I can't find any activity except an offer. So I took him off the Top Targets list today.

I was a member over there 10 years ago or around that time. They would delete threads that had valid information because they didn't get the scoop. They would mod the hell out of the forum for no reason other than just a power trip. I hated it. That's why I'm so hesitant to join a pay site. They ruined it for me.

BOL had a special going right after NSD. Pay for 1 month and get 4 more for free. Couldn't pass it up. Plus I committed to cover for Saint while he was on his covert mission, so I kinda needed it. I like it for the info, but don't care to hang out on the board. It's much better here, because info flows in from more outlets and sources. And here we can call shite like we see it, and even do divine mushrooms and stuff like that.

At least this didn’t drag out until NSD like Vernon Jackson.

I imagine he will commit to LSU soon and then back off when their season starts to crumble.

I'd be very surprised if Harris commits to 7SU. I must be reading his comments different from the way you guys are. I don't see any reason for concern there. He may not publicly commit to us now as soon as we wanted him to (I don't really know), but I don't think things have changed too much. I have heard that (Strangely enough) we view UGa as more of a threat with him than 7SU.
Regardless, everybody in the country wants him now. He's much better than whatever in the 200's his Composite ranking is or was. He'll be a top 100 guy.
For whoever it was that posted about him being Devonta Smith's teammate, though, you're thinking of Devonta Lee and not Harris. Lee is from Amite, as was Devonta Smith. I would be very surprised if both Amite guys didn't end up in Tuscaloosa.
