Also to add.. know that Horn Lake is ate up with Ole Miss.. that’s where the coach’s, fans, town would love him to go. They are not a threat now though, if Freeze was still there he would be a lock to them. I wouldn’t be surprised if Saban does hire Freeze next year as a consultant. He couldn’t do it last year, but can next year.

4-star Alabama DL commit 'shocked the world' in ESPN debut
quote:
The Hoover Met public-address announcer didn't say Alabama commit Rashad Cheney's name much in the first half of Saturday's game against Hewitt-Trussville.
But Cheney made sure the crowd -- and the national TV audience on ESPN -- knew his name in the second half.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive tackle for Cedar Grove (Ga.) wreaked havoc after halftime, as the Saints (2-0) limited the Huskies to just six second-half points in a 34-30, comeback victory. Cedar Grove shut out the Huskies in the fourth quarter.
"My dad from the stands got on me about playing too soft" in the first half, Cheney said. "I had to adjust that. Man, this is a big-time stadium. My first game on ESPN, I came out kind of nervous. I knew it was my time to shock the world, because a lot of people don't believe in me like that. I shocked the world, played a good game."
A four-star prospect according to the 247sports Composite rankings, Cheney is not ranked among the nation's top 300 prospects and isn't in the top 20 at defensive tackle. Those numbers don't align with Alabama's elite national recruiting.
But Cheney displayed the skillset that made Alabama like him -- a lighting quick first stop, the ability to consistently penetrate into the backfield and plenty of power to drop ball carriers.
No official defensive statistics were available after Saturday's game, but Cheney had at least five tackles and batted down a pass by Hewitt-Trussville quarterback and fellow Alabama commit Paul Tyson in the second half.
"I'd say a B-minus," Cheney said when asked to grade his performance. "I could have played better in the first half. The second half, I stepped up."
Cheney said Penn State and Minnesota continue to recruit him hard and Florida State recently showed renewed interest.
How solid is his Alabama commitment? "I'm 100 percent," he said, "but there's schools that still holler at me."
Cheney smiled when asked about Cedar Grove's second-half comeback, as the Saints scored the game-winning touchdown with 1:08 to go. He played a big role in slowing the Hewitt offense in the second half, despite the Huskies having Alabama commits Pierce Quick on the offensive line, Dazalin Worsham at receiver and Tyson at quarterback and Auburn commit Ja'Varrius Johnson at receiver.
"You can have all the D-I players in the world," Cheney said. "We've only got, what three or four? When you really want, that doesn't mean nothing. We showed that out there."

Hewitt-Trussville 38, West Forsyth (Ga.) 30: Bama commit Paul Tyson leads Huskies
quote:
Last week, Hewitt-Trussville hosted a team from Georgia in its season opener. This week, the Huskies traveled to Georgia looking for their first win.
Fortunately for the seventh-ranked team in Class 7A, the outcome was different this time.
The Huskies shook off last week's loss to Cedar Grove (Ga.) with a 38-30 victory at West Forsyth on Friday night in a contest that featured seven lead changes. Hewitt-Trussville (1-1) recovered a West Forsyth fumble inside the 10-yard line with a little more than two minutes remaining to secure the win.
Senior quarterback and Alabama commitment Paul Tyson threw three touchdowns. Auburn commit Ja'Varrius Johnson returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown and caught two of Tyson's touchdown passes. Parker Colburn kicked a 24-yard field goal for the Huskies, who also got an interception from Creed Parker.

Thompson 47, Foley 0: Alabama commit Taulia Tagovailoa throws 5 TDs in Warrior rout
quote:
Alabama commit Taulia Tagovailoa didn't think his performance Friday night was quite "up to par."
That could be a bad sign for the rest of the state.
The senior quarterback threw five touchdown passes as Class 7A No. 2 Thompson overwhelmed Foley 47-0 at Ivan Jones Stadium in Foley, setting up a huge region matchup at No. 1 Hoover next week.
"My performance as an individual - I guess you could say it wasn't up to par," Tagovailoa said. "It's not what we expect and what I expect. I've got to get back to fundamentals and going through my reads, but we're happy with the win."
Tagovailoa - who said he had no idea if his brother Tua or Jalen Hurts would start for defending national champ Alabama in Saturday's opener, by the way - finished 23-of-33 for 254 yards and his five scores. He wasn't intercepted, and he didn't play in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors (2-0) led 21-0 after one quarter, 34-0 at the half and were never seriously threatened.
"To come this far and have a lot of distractions as far as our routine goes ... I was proud of the kids," said Thompson coach Mark Freeman, making a return to the Gulf Coast after spending two years at Gulf Shores and four at Spanish Fort. "We have a lot of new guys playing and every game they can play is good experience. We've just got to keep working."
Tagovailoa completed TD passes of 11 and 1 yard to JB Mitchell, 8 and 23 yards to Michael Pettway and 20 yards to Shadrick Byrd. Byrd also had a 13-yard rushing TD. Sam Gaitors capped the scoring with a 59-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
"We wanted to come out and do the things we do," Freeman said. "Lia made some good calls at line. We dropped balls early. I don't know why. The ball was a little wet, but we have to get used to that. We've got to catch wet balls. We might have to catch wet balls the rest of the year. I think we can play a lot better, but it's good to come down here and get a win."
Foley (0-2) struggled on both sides of the ball. The Lions, who were also shut out on the road at Prattville last week, gained just 39 total yards of offense on 42 plays against the Warriors and made just four first downs. Nine of their 16 runs resulted in negative yardage.
"Our energy was better tonight," Foley coach Tad Niblett said. "I thought we played hard. Our execution level is just not where it needs to be. We've got to continue to work each week. It's early in the season. I'm not disappointed with our effort, but we just can't find any consistency and they had a lot to do with it obviously."
Pettway, a junior, finished with seven catches for 96 yards and two TDs. Mitchell had six catches for 74 yards and two scores. Thompson finished with 382 yards of total offense and 15 first downs.
Foley, which has been outscored 84-0 in its first two games, must travel to Theodore next week.
