UGA is going to be tough to beat but we won't go down without swinging next year.

Nb4 people take that as uncertainty over Tyson/Taulia.

I'm not very impressed so far with his highlights. His receiver though, is tall and looks pretty fast. Bailing the QB out a lot. He's number 1. All you have to do is throw it up in his direction

I agree. But 247 has him as a top100 player. I'm sorry I just don't see it

Oh damn, he's Darren Jones' QB.
Jones is the WR I posted about in the 2018 thread, he's like 6-8...

Well hell
He moves really well for 6'8
I wish we would offer the kid. He'd be tough to deal with in the red zone

2019 Needs
Nick Saban made it clear at his press conference wrapping up National Signing Day last Wednesday that Alabama would have liked to add at least one more quarterback, defensive lineman and linebacker. So, naturally, those will be the areas of focus in the 2019 class.
Quarterback
It was always going to be tough for Alabama to sign a quarterback in the 2018 class because of the team’s young, talented depth chart. Expect the Tide to try to sign two quarterbacks in the 2019 class.
Thankfully for the Tide, there are two elite prospects in the state that have ties to the program in 4-star quarterbacks Paul Tyson and Taulia Tagovailoa. Tyson is the great-grandson of Bear Bryant and Taulia is Tua’s younger brother.
Defensive line
On the defensive line, the Tide only signed 4-star defensive linemen Christian Barmore and Stephon Wynn Jr. in the 2018 class. Alabama missed on Bobby Brown, who flipped from the Tide to Texas A&M on National Signing Day and 4-star defensive end Malik Langham, who signed with Florida.
This upcoming season will be the last for Isaiah Buggs and Johnny Dwight. Raekwon Davis has the potential to be a first-round draft pick, so the Tide may lose him after this season, too. Some Class of 2019 defensive line prospects to keep an eye on are 5-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher, 4-star defensive tackle DJ Dale, 4-star defensive end Ani Izuchukwu, 4-star defensive tackle C.J. Clark, 4-star defensive end Nathan Pickering, 4-star defensive end Bill Norton and 4-star defensive tackle Travon Walker. Other names will emerge over the next few months as Alabama starts hosting junior days.
Linebacker
Alabama only signed Jack linebackers Eyabi Anoma, Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu in the 2018 class. Davis may grow into a defensive end. The Tide missed on JJ Peterson, who signed with Tennessee, and Quay Walker, who flipped to Georgia on National Signing Day.
The Tide will lose Keith Holcombe after this season and Mack Wilson may declare for the NFL draft. Several linebackers will be added this class, and Alabama already has a commitment from 4-star outside linebacker King Mwikuta. Some other targets to know in this class are 5-star inside linebacker Nakobe Dean, 5-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe, 4-star outside linebacker Marcel Brooks and 4-star inside linebacker Vonta Bentley.

Alabama’s top 2019 in-state targets led by 2 QBs with direct ties to Crimson Tide
quote:
Alabama should sign more in-state players in 2019 class
Alabama only signed two players from the Yellowhammer State in the 2018 class in 4-star cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis and 3-star tight end Michael Parker. The Crimson Tide only strongly recruited a handful of players in the state in the past signing class, as there just wasn’t enough top-end talent in Alabama.
Why Alabama wasn’t recruiting more in-state players was a frequent question I received throughout the recruiting cycle. The Tide signed their lowest amount of players from the state in the Nick Saban era. Just how down was the talent level in Alabama in the 2018 class? Nearly half of the top 10 players, according to the 247Sports composite, were not serious targets for Alabama throughout the recruiting process.
That likely changes in the 2019 class. Let’s take a look at some of the top targets.

Alabama’s top in-state targets in 2019 class
Clay Webb, 5-star center, Oxford High School
Clay Webb was one of the top 5 offensive linemen I saw in action last year. He’s that good. Webb didn’t grow up a fan of either Alabama or Auburn. Both of his parents went to Jacksonville State, but the Crimson Tide do have a little advantage over Auburn in the battle for Webb: his relationship with Alabama commit Pierce Quick.
“I think Clay is the best center in the nation for 2019, no doubt,” Quick told SEC Country last year. “I’ve seen him lose maybe two reps at all the camps I’ve been to. We are also really good friends and I just want him on my team at the next level.”
Webb’s decision will likely come down to the Tide and Tigers. Not only does he have a good relationship with Quick, but he’s also close with offensive line coach Brent Key.

Pierce Quick, 5-star tackle, Hewitt-Trussville — committed to Alabama
Quick committed to Alabama back in April. It would come as a shocker if he ended up signing with any other program. Quick grew up a giant Crimson Tide fan and has wanted to play for the school since he could remember. Look for him to be one of the vocal leaders of the 2019 class.

Taulia Tagovailoa, 4-star quarterback, Thompson
Alabama fans definitely recognize Taulia’s last name. Yes, he is Tua Tagovailoa’s little brother. That doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee that they end up attending the same school. We are talking about a kid who played for a different high school while the family lived in Hawaii so he could have the opportunity to play. Could that happen again? I do know that Tagovailoa is interested in visiting other schools around the country, but from talking to him several times, he absolutely loves Alabama.

Paul Tyson, 4-star quarterback, Hewitt-Trussville
Paul Tyson is Bear Bryant’s great-grandson. Tyson has been going to Alabama games his entire life. But, like Tagovailoa, it’s not a certainty that he ends up at Alabama. It would be a surprise if he didn’t choose the Crimson Tide, considering his family’s history, but he has taken visits to several other schools throughout his recruitment so far.

Christian Williams, 4-star cornerback, Daphne
Christian Williams is another in-state recruit who grew up an Alabama fan. The Crimson Tide signed 5 defensive backs in the 2018 class after not signing any true corners in the 2017 class. Williams is one of the Tide’s top defensive back targets in the 2019 class. He’s expected to visit Tuscaloosa on Feb. 24 for the Tide’s junior day event.

Amari Kight, 4-star tackle, Thompson
It’s an excellent year in the state of Alabama for offensive linemen, and the Crimson Tide could strike gold by landing Webb, Quick and Amari Kight, who is teammates with Taulia Tagovailoa. Kight already has offers from some of the nation’s best programs. He will be a priority until he signs his letter of intent.

George Pickens, 4-star wide receiver, Hoover — committed to Auburn
George Pickens committed to Auburn early, and he still doesn’t have an offer from Alabama just yet; however, do not be surprised to see him get one in the near future. The Tide wanted to sign one big-bodied receiver in the 2018 class but struck out there with Justyn Ross signing with Clemson and Seth Williams choosing Auburn.

Mohamoud Diabate, 4-star outside linebacker, Auburn HS
Mohamoud Diabate doesn’t have an offer from Alabama just yet, but he’s another player that the Crimson Tide are interested in. As camp season gets underway, he’s one to watch out for as far as getting an offer down the road.

DJ Dale, 4-star defensive tackle, Clay-Chalkville
DJ Dale added an offer from Alabama after the Tide’s last junior day event in late January. The Crimson Tide wanted to add one more defensive lineman in the 2018 class after Bobby Brown flipped to Texas A&M and Malik Langham signed with Florida. Expect Dale to be a priority for the Tide throughout his process.

Vonta Bentley, 4-star inside linebacker, Jackson-Olin
Jackson-Olin has sent two players to Auburn (TD Moultry and Coynis Miller) in the past two recruiting classes. Alabama hopes the streak ends with Vonta Bentley. He named Alabama his leader after visiting Tuscaloosa in January.
