Four-star defensive tackle and 2019 prospect C.J. Clark unveiled his top 5 on Tuesday, with South Carolina making the cut.
The Gamecocks joined the likes of Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and North Carolina State among the New London, N.C., native’s favorites.
Clark is rated as the No. 277 overall prospect and No. 19 defensive tackle for 2019, per the 247Sports composite.
I guess we aren't so high on him after all

South Carolina recruiting: Gamecocks expected to make top 5 for Alabama CB Jaydon Hill
quote:
Before the end of this month, 2019 3-star cornerback Jaydon Hill (Bob Jones/Madison, Ala.) is expected to whittle his list of nearly 30 offers down to five. At least three SEC schools — South Carolina, Mississippi State and Tennessee — are expected to make the cut.
The other two spots are up for grabs. Should Alabama and Clemson move in with an offer, both would receive strong consideration.
Hill (6-0, 172) visited Alabama last weekend. A week earlier, he went to Clemson, a day before dropping by South Carolina for the Garnet and Black spring game.
“It was good,” Hill said of South Carolina’s spring game. “I liked the fan base. I liked the campus, the facilities and I liked Coach [Will] Muschamp and [defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson].”
It was Hill’s first visit to Columbia and his first chance to interact with the Gamecocks coaches.
“[Robinson] keeps it real. You can tell he has a great passion for the game and he can coach,” Hill said. “He has produced good DBs, the corners he’s coached.”
Hill mentioned the tenure of Muschamp and Robinson at Florida, where they regularly churned out top defensive backs for the Gators.
“I like how Muschamp – you can tell he’s about business when he’s talking,” Hill said.
He grew up rooting for Alabama over Auburn. His mom and sister side with the Tide, too. But their house is a bit divided. Hill’s dad and brother are Florida fans.
Later this month, Hill intends to return to Tennessee for the spring game. Auburn, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State also have had him on campus this year.
Hill said he plans to graduate in December.
“Relationships with not just one, but multiple coaches. That means a lot to me,” he said, when asked about factors in his decision. “And academics and playing time.”
According to the 247Sports composite, Hill is now ranked as the No. 28 cornerback in the country. He rose from No. 50 after receiving a significant ratings bump from 247Sports.

Rivals Camp Series Midseason Team: Wide Receiver/Tight Ends
Seeing as our WR board is pretty vague (at least from my point of view) I'll post the guys I know we've offered.

The Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas kicked off just after Signing Day and has already rolled through seven different cities. With the circuit on a brief break before starting up again this weekend in Atlanta, we look back at the first half of the circuit and identify the best performances by position. Today we look at the wide receivers and tight ends. The respective prospects are listed in alphabetical order.

John Dunmore
Dunmore’s star has continued to rise over the past year and has culminated with a dominant spring on the circuit, which kicked off with an MVP performance at the Miami stop of the series. Dunmore had one of the best plays of the year when he made an eye-popping one-handed catch that helped him wrap up not only MVP honors but an invite to the Five-Star Challenge. The one-time Florida commit is still considering the Gators along with Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and several others.

Frank Ladson
A standout performer at the Miami camp, Ladson would have probably won the MVP at several other stops on the tour. But he still found a way to stand out among the loaded group in Miami thanks to his size and playmaking ability and earned an invitation to the Five-Star Challenge for his efforts. Clemson, Miami, Georgia and Florida State are among the programs in the mix for Ladson.

Devonta Lee
A standout Louisiana prospect, Lee earned his invitation to the Five-Star Challenge with an excellent showing at the Houston camp while working at wide receiver. Lee, who is being recruited by some schools as a safety, has the type of physicality that’s not easy to find at the position, especially if you factor in his ability to make big plays and tough catches. LSU, Alabama and several other major programs have offered Lee.

Trey Palmer
Palmer made the trip west to compete at the Houston event of the series and spent the day toasting defensive backs down the field en route to earning an invitation to the Five-Star Challenge. A two-way star at the high school level, Palmer can do a little bit of everything and is still refining his game as a wide receiver, which makes his performance that much more impressive. LSU, Texas A&M, Texas and several others are in pursuit of Palmer.

Theo Wease
Wease has been a five-star since lighting up last year’s Five-Star Challenge and he hasn’t slowed down since. At the Dallas Rivals 3 Stripe Camp, he showed more of what he’s always been able to do best as a player - use his size, strength and explosion to put defensive backs to shame. He has been committed to Oklahoma once, and the Sooners are still considered the favorite in his recruitment, but he has a top five that also includes Alabama, LSU, USC and Texas A&M.

Garrett Wilson
Wilson has been the most dynamic player on one of Texas’ top high school football programs since his sophomore season and he just seems to keep getting better. He won the wide receiver MVP and earned an invite the Five-Star Challenge with a dazzling performance at the Houston Rivals 3 Stripe Camp, where he made catches up, over, and around defenders. He has narrowed his commitment down to a choice between Ohio State and Texas.

Why Tide is in final pairing for Texas LB Marcel Brooks (BamaOnLine-VIP)
4-star LB/S Marcel Brooks 6-3/200 (TX) hudl
Brooks will choose Bama or LSU on June 25. He said he has good relationships with Saban, Lupoi and a lot of Bama position coaches and talks to them very often. Since Bama and LSU spring games are the same day, he said to be "neutral" he'll visit them on other days.

The confidence that our staff has in landing Tuitele and Sopsher is probably the reason why.

Ani Izuchukwu is announcing today.

Assuming you're refering to Ani Izuchukwu, I think the staff views him as a Jack who could bulk up to SDE. So, I think confidence in getting 1 or 2 of Thibodeaux, Kevin Harris or Mohamoud Diabate factors in too. And, we already have Eyabi Anoma, Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu coming in. Looks like Saint's prediction that Bama would recruit over him was a good call.

He's responding to my comment about CJ Clark.

Oh. Then RJ91's post is spot on, imo. Also, CJ Clark looks comparable to Rashad Cheney. And all along it's looked like Clark would choose a school close to home.

I'm starting to get the feeling we are going to over recruit DJ Dale too.

Same here. I love to take good in-state guys, but DJ Dale just seems to only fit in a limited a run-stuffing NT role. Nowadays Bama's profile for its NT position isn't much different than its DT/DE position.
