George Pickens (AL), WR, Auburn commit – Though his testing numbers were just ok, Pickens sure played fast and his size creates huge matchup issues. Aside from Haselwood nobody was a more dominant downfield threat and his new ranking inside the Top 75 reflects that.

Jaydon Hill (AL), CB, uncommitted – One of the real revelations of the event, Hill jumps up from a three-star to a Top150 level recruit. We think he has a chance to continue to be a riser through the process. South Carolina is the early favorite.

The quarterbacks – Auburn commit Bo Nix had one of the steadier camp performances we’ve seen to date. Wisconsin quarterback commit Graham Mertz probably had the most upside of any quarterback at the Atlanta event but Sam Howell’s film remains our favorite from Atlanta. Taulia Tagovailoa has dipped down some in the rankings (142) and Nix (177) and Mertz (193) have both moved up to get all three in a much closer vicinity.

man, what an epic recruiting haul that would be. With Pierce that would be 6 5 stars. How many can we take this year?

We can sign 27 in this cycle -- 25 2019 initial counters + 2 unused initial counter spots from 2018 that we can use to backcount two early enrollees into. We had 3, but the juco transfer Tevita Musika takes one spot. We're at the 85 total cap now, so attrition (1) is needed to fit Musika in.

Check out the Top Targets list in the 2nd post of this thread. The 27 total class size number is broken down (roughly) on the subheading lines for each position group based on needs. Within each position group the players are listed in order (roughly) of likelihood to land them. However, the WR & TE group is still real murky except for Devonta Lee. Bama is expected to load up on DL & LB in this cycle.

ETA: The list is updated very often.

One of the Ole Miss mods CB'd Jaren Handy to the Rebels.

That doesn't concern me. But if Pappoe commits to AU, then UGA may go after Kevin Harris.

I will just quickly disagree with you on that. Most atheist are indifferent and their lack of faith is only as important as the people around them make it. While there is a portion of atheist who believe religion does more harm than good and are outspoken about it (Hawkins, Hitchens, Harris, Maher and the like) that is generally a small subset of non believers you just see them alot. Most conservatives aren't like Hannity, Levin, Laura, Coulter and the like. Generally speaking the only time I or other atheist I know talk at length about the subject is when people attempt to minister to us.

With that being said Raewkon Davis is a god on D-Line and if we can get Sospher, Thibs, and Anoma all together I might consider being Unitarian.

Any 5 Stars commit yet?

Both the Mississippi State and Ole Miss mods have CB'd Ani Izuchukwu to MSU in the last 24 hours.

I've been thinking lately that you may have been correct when you said you thought Bama would end up recruiting over Ani Izuchukwu. I didn't think so at the time, but now it looks like that might happen. Thibodeaux of course is higher on their board, but I'm thinking Bama may also have Kevin Harris higher. Also Mohamoud Diabate might end up moving above him too. We'll see.

More lube. King Mikwuta too.

ETA: Diabate visited Feb 24th and was pretty high on Bama, but as far as I know he hasn't visited again since then. In a Chris Kirschner article about a month ago it sounded like he thought Bama is slow playing him.

I think Bama wants 6 LBs. I like this mix --

ILB: Dean, Bentley and C Harris

OLB: Mwikuta, Thibo and K Harris or Diabate

Bama might even take 7 LBs.

Alabama’s primary DB targets and if Tide are losing ground with longtime recruit

Brendan Gant committed to Bama in December.

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on  Twitter or on  Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers  here.

Alabama likely will sign three to four defensive backs in the 2019 class. The Tide currently have two committed 4-star prospects  Brendan Gant, a safety from Florida, and  Brandon Turnage, a hybrid DB from Mississippi.

Outside of the current commits, 4-star cornerback  Christian Williams from Daphne (Ala.) High School is certainly a name to know. I think he’ll end up in Alabama’s class. He could make his decision before the start of the season.

Noa Pola-Gates, a 4-star safety from Arizona, and Jarrian Jones, a 4-star safety from Mississippi, are both being recruited by the Tide as cornerbacks. Pola-Gates named the Tide his leader earlier this year after visiting for the first time. Jones visited Tuscaloosa last weekend and has Alabama in his top 3 along with Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

Daxton Hill, the nation’s No. 2 safety, is from Oklahoma. He is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa for A-Day in two weeks. He’s one of the team’s top overall targets in the class.

Quinton Newsome, a 3-star safety from Georgia, also visited Tuscaloosa last weekend. He met with Nick Saban 1-on-1 and is being treated as a priority.  Cordale Flott, a 3-star safety from Saraland (Ala.), also is a player to watch.

And then finally, there’s  Jaylen McCollough, a 4-star safety from Georgia. We’ve written about McCollough a lot on SEC Country. He’s visited Alabama more than any other school, and we have said that his recruitment felt like an Alabama-Auburn race. That was before we learned that several schools have concerns about McCollough’s speed.

McCollough posted a 4.71 40-yard dash time at Nike’s The Opening Atlanta regional camp in March. That’s a very slow time for a safety and a prospect who is 6-1 and 190 pounds. McCollough may need to camp this summer in Tuscaloosa. This is why you might have seen various recruiting reporters give their picks to schools such as South Carolina and Tennessee on the 247Sports Crystal Ball feature.

No, I was AD for 4 years then did palace front after my contract ended and joined the Arkansas Air ANG while I went to school. I just applied as a civilian because there apparently aren’t any programs to go from enlisted guard to AD officer.
