Kayvon Thibodeaux plans on returning to Alabama
Kayvon Thibodeaux, the nation’s No. 1 recruit according to the 247Sports composite rankings, made his first visit to Alabama this weekend and it couldn’t have gone any better for him and the Crimson Tide’s chances at landing the 5-star Jack linebacker.
Thibodeaux admitted that before going to Tuscaloosa, he wasn’t thinking much of Alabama because of a negative perception he had of the school. That thinking has completely changed after spending two days on campus.
“It blew my mind. It exceeded all of my expectations,” Thibodeaux told SEC Country. “I wasn’t really too big on Alabama going into it, but they changed my mind. Before going, it just seemed like too much of a factory. They got the best guys. They didn’t turn these guys into big D-1 prospects. They just got the best guys. But now seeing it in person, I see that they pay attention to every little detail [to] make them better.”
One of the things contributing to Thibodeaux’s perception change was watching the players work out with strength coach Scott Cochran. Thibodeaux noted that no one in the weight room was sitting around and hanging out. They all were working on something.
Thibodeaux said it was at that time when he realized why Alabama is consistently competing for national championships. “That is why they are No. 1,” Thibodeaux said. “That is why they are the best.”

Thibodeaux, who hails from Thousand Oaks, Calif., and attends one of high school football’s most prestigious programs in Oaks Christian, said another thing that intrigued him about Alabama is how the city almost revolves around football.
That helps the Tide’s chances with him when he makes his decision, which he said could happen in either October or November before he enrolls in January.
“I want to play big-time football. That’s my goal,” Thibodeaux said. “I think Alabama can get me there. It’s the way they run things there. Nick Saban is a genius, and he has it all figured out. I fit into their defense perfectly. I would be able to maximize everything I do.”
The 6-foot-5, 241-pound prospect said Saban gave him insight on the business side of football and how he makes sure his players become better men off the field. He also liked how Saban prioritizes academics because that’s important to Thibodeaux, who hopes to be an entertainment lawyer one day.
Thibodeaux intently listens to what coaches say to him because he has realized that sometimes coaches bend the truth a bit when it comes to their recruiting pitches. He wouldn’t name the schools, but he has said some staff members elsewhere have told him that their respective school was rated as the safest campus in the country and had the best meal plan in the country.
He appreciated how straightforward the Alabama staff was with him. "I got a great vibe from them. They are great people,” Thibodeaux said. “I looked into all of their stats and double-checked everything they told me to see if it was true, and it was.”

Alabama will get one of his five official visits when he starts taking them this fall. He doesn’t have any official visits locked in just yet, but he knows that Alabama and LSU will host him once again. Thibodeaux, importantly, said distance will not be an issue for him when he makes his decision. He also said he has his parents’ 100 percent support if he wants to play in the SEC.

Thibodeaux didn’t have a favorite school or team growing up because he just started watching football around three years ago. He played the sport growing up but just didn’t watch games on TV. He realized that once he had an opportunity to have a career in the sport, he probably should watch it. He only went to his first college football game a little over a year ago.
The nation’s No. 1 recruit has put in lots of research into the colleges that he’s considering. He also gave a unique perspective for why Alabama playing for national championships almost every year should be an important factor when choosing a school.
“Playing for a national championship gives you two more opportunities to play which can help you with more film and better stats,” Thibodeaux said. “It’s also a step before winning a Super Bowl. So to play in a national championship would be a blessing. Every class that Nick Saban has coached at Alabama has won a national championship. He’s doing something right.”
So, if Alabama ends up being the school he chooses this fall, what would the reason be? “There’s no reason not to commit to Alabama,” Thibodeaux said. “It has everything you could want.”

5-star Alabama commit Pierce Quick embraces new recruiting role (al.com)
PIerce Quick was the first 2019 player to commit to Alabama.
PIerce Quick was the first 2019 player to commit to Alabama.
quote:
Hewitt-Trussville's Pierce Quick knows where he wants to play college football at Alabama. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder and 5-star Alabama commitment isn't just any recruit anymore. He's become a recruiter, trying to convince some of the nation's top prospects to join him in Tuscaloosa.
"I want to be a leader in whatever class I'm in," Quick said. "I know it's about time when people will start committing, especially quarterback and skill positions. They normally shut it down a little bit earlier. I need to go ahead and help out with that and recruit for Alabama.
"Now, I'm the guy texting recruits," he added. "I'm texting them every day, telling them 'Happy birthday' on their birthday. When I see a top-5 on Twitter, I might not even know the guy, but I'll follow them right then or text them or DM them and tell them why I chose Alabama."
Quick has already succeeded, as teammate and quarterback Paul Tyson, legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant's great-grandson, committed to Alabama last week. Tyson said Quick helped influence his decision to choose the Crimson Tide. "He definitely had a lot of influence," Tyson said. "I mean, Pierce is my boy."
Quick added he's 100 percent headed to Alabama and plans to graduate high school early, sign in December and head to Tuscaloosa immediately. "After visiting Alabama so many times and growing up such a huge Bama fan, I just decided a few weeks ago that it's time to shut it out down," he said. "I need to concentrate on school since I'm graduating early and visit Bama more."
Quick told AL.com earlier this year he had already started recruiting Oxford offensive lineman Clay Webb, another five-star prospect, to sign with Alabama. Since then, Quick has expanded his recruiting role and said he's enjoying it.
"Everybody in the country knows who Alabama is. That's just how it is," Quick said. "I can explain it a little bit more. My No. 1 goal is just to get a guy to visit, because once you visit, it talks for itself.
"It's weird at first," he said. "You've got to act normal. It's probably just as awkward for them as it is for me. That was probably the hardest part about being a recruiter."

He compared himself to Mark Ingram. Maybe he's sort of in between Ingram and Jacobs.

I like his film much more then Trey Sanders and Noah Cain. I really don't see how both are rated so much higher than Ealy.
I hope we push hard and flip him.
