I wonder if Bogle was a guy that Tosh really wanted but the other coaches aren't very high on. It's strange that he hasn't been in contact with anyone (if that's true)

I doubt Bama is cooling at all on wanting Bogle. I think its more likely that Pannunzio has simply dropped the ball

Pannuzio is a Saban guy through and through, I doubt he would let something like this happen unless internally their is way more confusion then we know or this is an intentional choice until we get clarity from our DC/DL hires?

It's better for my sanity if I believe we are intentionally dropping the ball. If this is an oversight, then it will really piss me off

There's no need to wait for clarity. Pannunzio should've called Bogle and assured him that Bama is in the process of hiring a great replacement and that he'll visit Bogle with Pannunzio as soon as the hire is finalized.

I doubt it. Saban has final say in where recruits rank on the recruiting board. Bogle was right behind Thibs on the board. He's the #3-ranked WDE in the nation.

Sure, but we have seen guys who were pet choices of a staff member being recruited heavily, even committing right up until that staff member leaves and then suddenly they drop off.

Forreal... I totally get Surge's arguments, I just have trouble believing this is another Dunbar situation...

Yeah, it is hard to believe that Joe wouldn’t have called Bogle to give him a heads up or to smooth things out afterwards. Means two things to me, either we didn’t call for one of those reasons or Bogle isn’t being truthful. I think it was mentioned before that he might use Tosh’s leaving as an excuse to leave. Is it all that hard to think he might have just said it to get other schools to call.

I love the idea of pannuzio showing Saban like 6 calls to Bogle that he just hung up on
That is a good point though, we have no clue if Bogle was being literal or if he was playing a little loose with it to either get our staff to give him more attention/explanation or if he was signaling other schools to come back into this thing.

LINK ]Bama DT commit Jah-Marien Latham named Class 1A Lineman of the Year (al.com)

quote:

The Capstone was a natural choice for Pickens County junior Jah-Marien Latham. “Alabama always has been a dream school for me,” Latham said at this week’s ASWA Mr. Football banquet in Montgomery. “It’s close to home. I like the atmosphere.”

Latham was named Class 1A Lineman of the Year this week. He finished the 2018 season with 75 total tackles, including 16 for a loss. He also had five sacks and two fumble recoveries. He helped the Tornadoes to a 9-5 season and the state semifinals.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman committed to Alabama in November. He also holds offers from fellow SEC schools South Carolina and Tennessee.

So far, he’s enjoying the recruiting process. “I love it,” he said. “Sometimes, it gets kind of stressful when you have calls coming in every night from different coaches, but I just try to embrace it.”

Though he has committed to Alabama, he said he would like to visit some other top schools including Auburn, Georgia, Clemson, Florida and Tennessee. “I just want to see what is out there, see what some other schools have to offer."

The 247 composite rankings currently list Latham as the No. 19 prospect in the state’s 2020 class. He is the 38th-ranked defensive tackle in the nation. Latham said Alabama coaches have talked to him about playing strongside defensive end or defensive tackle.

However, before he gets to Tuscaloosa, he has some other goals on his list. “I would like to be the 1A defensive lineman of the year (again),” he said. “I want to make first-team all-state and be defensive MVP of my team.”

Love this hire. Saban did not want a repeat of the catastrophe of 2018. Sal should help fix our LB problems and he won't be chasing a job next year.

I am talking about fixing the MLB's. We don't know where he will be coaching though. He could be handling just the OLlB's.

LINK ]Nick Saban uses helicopter for recruiting visits (al.com)

quote:

Alabama coach Nick Saban certainly knows how to make an entrance.

Saban hit the recruiting trail today in the Birmingham area and visited at least two schools -- Hewitt-Trussville and Jackson-Olin -- by landing in a helicopter on the schools' football fields.

"Any time some like coach Saban comes to Avenue E in Ensley, it's a big deal," Jackson-Olin coach Tim Vakakes said.

Watch Saban arrive at Jackson-Olin:

Alabama signed 24 players during college football early signing period, has several others committed for the Class of 2019, and remains in hot pursuit of several remaining uncommitted players.

Saban, though, has already moved on to the Class of 2020 and beyond. Jackson-Olin has linebacker Quindarrius Robinson, an Auburn commit who is one of the state’s elite prospects in the Class of 2020.

Alabama signed two players from Hewitt-Trussville this year, offensive lineman Pierce Quick and quarterback Paul Tyson, and Saban already has commitments from Hewitt receiver Dazalin Worsham and defensive back Malachi Moore in the Class of 2020. Moore The Huskies have several other notable underclassmen prospects, including running back Armoni Goodwin and defensive end Justice Finkley.

Several Alabama assistant coaches have left recently, temporarily stymieing the Crimson Tide’s recruiting efforts, but the Crimson Tide added two new coaches today.
