ALPHA DOG

Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva linebacker Rian Davis is an impressive looking prospect walking onto the field standing 6-foot-2, 230-pounds with broad shoulders, but then he ‘wowed’ once the competition started. Davis flashed elite athleticism going through bag drills, and then used that mobility to own the open field ‘cat and mouse’ drill against the running backs. Davis’ most impressive play came during 7-on-7 when he ran step for step with a slot receiver 40 yards down the field to get a pass break up at the goal line. Davis was the camp’s top performer overall. Texas and Alabama are two teams that appear to be under heavy consideration by Davis early in the process.

NEXT FIVE ON DEFENSE

1. CB Renardo Green: The Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva cornerback was very active during one-on-one drills locking down receivers. The quick 6-foot, 170-pounder recorded multiple pass breakups and also came away with an interception. Green did an excellent job staying attached to receivers throughout their route. Miami, Louisville, and Kentucky are schools Green has spoken highly of lately.

2. DL Quashon Fuller: The Florida State commit used an impressive spin move to consistently beat offensive linemen in one-on-one drills. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Fuller worked out as a defensive end and a defensive tackle, looking equally as effective at both. The Lehigh Acres (Fla.) product also does an excellent job using his hands to displace the linemen on his way into the backfield.

3. DE Chantz Williams: No other edge rusher in the camp did a better job bending around offensive tackles than this Orange Park (Fla.) Oakleaf 2020 prospect. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Williams did an excellent job using his speed and dipping his shoulder to consistently pressure the quarterback during one-on-one drills. It’s clear that Williams is still a work in progress, but he certainly has plenty of upside to his play. Clemson and Miami are the two teams a the top for Williams early.

4. S Dane Belton: We know that this Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit product is a hard hitter from his play in the fall, but today the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder showed he’s capable in coverage as well. Belton spent most of the day on the outside going man-to-man with receivers where he registered multiple pass breakups. Rutgers, USF, and West Virginia are a few of Belton’s early offers.

5. CB Anthony Fieldings:
The Apopka (Fla.) 2020 prospect was quick breaking on the ball, which helped his get his hands on multiple passes. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect brings decent length to the position despite being on the slender side.

TOP FIVE ON OFFENSE

1. OG Deyavie Hammond: The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy product stuffed pass rusher after pass rusher on Sunday. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound played both guard and center on the day, where he proved to be technically sound a both using his hands well and constantly keeping his feet moving. LSU is the team Hammond says is recruiting him the hardest currently.

2. OC Kingsley Eguakun: The Miami center commit is on the short size, but that did not hinder him when it came to bullying defensive tackles. The 6-foot-1, 300-pound initial punch is impressive and it often stuns the defender. Auburn and Tennessee are trying to flip Eguakun from his Hurricanes pledge.

3. TE Keon Zipperer: The Lakeland (Fla.) product was very product in one-on-one and seven-on-seven play. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound moves rather well for his size and is able to create separation from linebackers and safeties. Zipperer’s highlight of the day was a nifty one-handed snag he hauled in and kept on running up the field.

4. RB Demarkcus Bowman: The Lakeland (Fla.) 2020 product was the most effective running back in the open field ‘cat and mouse’ drill against linebackers. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound ball carrier was simply too shifty in space for the linebackers to wrangle. Bowman is an explosive athlete as well that has Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia atop his recruitment.

5. WR Josh Delgado: There might not have been a more explosive or athletic receiver in the camp than this Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy prospect. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder gets to top speed quickly and explodes out of his breaks. Delgado’s highlight play came on a throw along the right sideline that he went over top the defensive back to snag, showing off that elite athleticism.

Other Notes…

Orange Park (Fla.) Oakleaf 2020 offensive tackle Jalen Rivers was very much in the discussion for top overall performers. The 6-foot-5, 325-pound prospect used his long arms and nimble feet to slow edge rushers the entire day.

Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva wide receiver Malik Tolbert might be light on offers, but the 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect makes plays. Tolbert made an impressive catch down the field where he went high over a defensive back for the catch.

Rockledge (Fla.) 2020 running back Ladarius Tennison looked very smooth and explosive going through drills. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound ball of muscle has early offers from North Carolina and Ole Miss.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood athlete Antonio Clary plays ‘Wildcat’ quarterback in high school, but on Sunday, he excelled at cornerback. The 6-foot, 190-pound Clary showed quick feet in defensive back drills, and came up with an interception during one-on-ones.

Receiver Julian Fleming, the nation's No. 2 player in the 2020 class on 247Sports, is looking at spring visits and an extensive offer list.

Although he does not have dates set, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Fleming has a shell of where he wants to visit prior to the start of his junior season.

"I'm going to try to get to Alabama, Georgia, I'll be back to Penn State again, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Ohio State," said Fleming, who plays at Catawissa (Pa.) Southern Columbia. "I'm trying to get around. I don't have any dates yet, but Alabama some time in April or May."

Rivals Five-Star Invites from the 3 stripe camp in Houston this weekend

quote:

OT Kenyon Green

One of the nation’s top players regardless of position, Green came into Sunday’s event with a target on his back and after a few slip ups early, make quick work of most of his opponents. Green’s wingspan measured in at an impressive 84 inches – or seven feet – and once he got his long arms on opponents it was tough for them to disengage. Green was invited to last year’s Five-Star Challenge but couldn’t attend due to a conflict but he will have a chance to make up for lost time after earning an invitation again on Sunday. LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and several others are in the mix for Green’s services.

DE Marcus Stripling

When it came to bringing energy on Sunday, Stripling was the king of the enthusiasm committee, helping firing up both the defensive and offensive linemen. He started the day by taking two reps from Green and his celebration set the tone for the rest of the day. Green would later get his revenge but it didn’t phase Stripling, who continues to get bigger and stronger every time we see him. For his efforts, he was rewarded with an invite to the Five-star Challenge. Schools like Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M are just a few of the many involved in Stripling’s recruitment.

CB Derek Stingley Jr.

The nation’s top cornerback more than lived up to his billing on Sunday, measuring in at an impressive 6-foot-1, 186 pounds and locking down wide receivers all day. Stingley loves to compete and carries himself with the confidence of a lockdown corner, winning rep after rep while recording several interceptions and pass deflections. After earning an invitation last year for his performance at the Rivals Camp in New Orleans, Stingley is headed back to this year’s event after his impressive showing. LSU, Stanford, Texas, Alabama and several others are in the mix for Stingley.

WR Devonta Lee

A versatile athlete who can play both safety and wide receiver, Lee impressed while working at wideout on Sunday. Lee checked in at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds and his physicality makes him a tough matchup for opposing defensive backs. Lee is still recovering from a minor injury suffered earlier this offseason but he powered through and did enough to earn an invitation to the Five-Star Challenge for the second consecutive year. LSU, Alabama and several others are in the mix to land his commitment.

WR Trey Palmer

Listed in the Rivals.com database as an athlete, Palmer lived up to his billing, impressing with this athleticism while working at wide receiver. He consistently got open and even when he was victimized by poor throws from his quarterback he found a way to go up and make a big play. Palmer’s ability to go up and make plays on the ball is one of the reasons why he’s a special talent and he showed that several times on Sunday. Palmer earned his invitation to the Five-Star Challenge on Sunday, making him a two-time invitee as well. LSU, Alabama and several others are in the mix for his commitment.
