FYI AU did not end up hiring Walker's old high school coach. Went with Memphis DB coach instead. Not gonna lie, tad disappointed as I think Felton has a chance to be a really good recruiter in the SEC but he's also very inexperienced. That & I really want Quay Walker after what he's done this week

I think most of those posters were just the same dude with multiple accounts.

Ya a lot of experience is leaving. The key is Stidham returning. Believe it or not he's contemplating making the jump. If he does AU is in serious trouble. Love Willis & Gatewood but don't want either to have to lead offense on road in Tuscaloosa & Athens next season
The big question marks will be OL & S. Might be better talent on OL next season but it's young & unproven. We are gonna be leaning on freshman at S. Not too worried about RB seeing as that is the only position of consistency under Malzahn & our front 7 will be strong again. But ya next year is not shaping up to be a championship season with all that has to be replaced and our schedule. Open year against Washington in Atlanta too. Gus better figure out how to win away from Jordan Hare fast or AU probably ends up 8-4

Your team at Jordan hare and away is just head scratching. You are a top 3 team in the country at Jordan hare. You are at best a top 15 team away. I don’t get it. Your students have like some blood magic sorcery elective your school provides?

I think some of it is it's just hard to win on the road against good teams. We beat the hell out of bad teams on the road too but can't seem to beat anyone worth a crap outside of Jordan Hare. I think our OL this year struggled with communication at more hostile environments when it wasn't quiet enough to easily talk through assignments. As long as we struggle to beat talented teams on the road there's a firm ceiling on program. Not sure what the fix is but Gus needs to figure it out or we will have to rely on odd numbered years for success when we get you & UGA at home
That or convince SEC office to move the championship game to Jordan Hare

Alabama recruiting: News & notes from Day 5 of Under Armour All-America week
quote:
ORLANDO, Fla. — Several of Alabama’s commits, signees and top targets are in Orlando practicing for the Under Armour All-America Game, which kicks off on Thursday.
Here is what we learned on Day 5 from the players Alabama is interested in who are in the Class of 2019:

I had never heard of something like this until Wednesday, but Deyavie Hammond, a 4-star offensive guard from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), said he plans to de-commit in the next few weeks from Alabama. Hammond committed to the Tide in May but likely won’t be pledged to Alabama by the end of the month.
“Well, my buddy Trey Sanders just de-committed,” Hammond said. “I’m kind of iffy, iffy on them. I’m looking at other schools and thinking about opening up my process. I want to take more options and look around more. I just want to see what’s out there. I’m still committed, but I’m thinking I might open it back up later this month.”
So, should we expect a de-commitment from Hammond later this month? “Yeah, definitely,” Hammond said. Very strange, but that’s recruiting for you.

Nakobe Dean, the nation’s No. 4 inside linebacker in the 2019 class, said Alabama and LSU are two schools that would definitely make his top 5 list. Dean is one of the priorities for the Tide in next year’s class. He said he’s planning on getting back to Tuscaloosa in the near future.

Kenyon Green, the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2019 class, has recently de-committed from LSU. Alabama is one of his top schools. He said he is contact with OL coach Brent Key almost every day. Alabama has a commitment from 4-star OT Pierce Quick in the 2019 class, but the Tide would love to have Green, too.

Owen Pappoe, a 5-star [2019] linebacker, said Clemson and Georgia remain his top two schools. He said Alabama has been gaining ground in recent weeks because of outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi’s push. He’s planning on visiting Tennessee next weekend because of his relationship with Jeremy Pruitt.

Alabama closing gap with LSU for 5-star CB Patrick Surtain Jr.
quote:
Patrick Surtain Jr. not looking like a lock to LSU anymore?
Patrick Surtain Jr. has named LSU his leader for more than a year and a half. It has always looked like the nation’s No. 1 cornerback was going to commit to the Tigers. It was just a matter of when he wanted to announce his decision.
It doesn’t seem that simple anymore.
“It’s very close,” Surtain told SEC Country at the U.S. Army All-American Game media session on Wednesday. “It’s a close race between both those schools. Both schools are recruiting me hard. Both schools have great defensive backs coaches: Corey Raymond and Coach [Derrick] Ansley. Both have great coaching staffs. It’s a race between those two [schools].”
Alabama would like to add two more defensive backs to its 2018 class. The Tide currently have Jalyn Armour-Davis, Josh Jobe and Saivion Smith signed. With the team losing Anthony Averett, Tony Brown, Levi Wallace, Hootie Jones and possibly Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison, signing the nation’s top corner would alleviate some of the pain.
Surtain has been a top target for the Tide in excess of a year. But, as stated in the first paragraph, it has always seemed like he was Baton Rouge-bound. He has strong family ties to the city; however, he has noticed that the Tide need bodies in the secondary. He also sees an opportunity at LSU, too.
“I’ve been looking at it like they’re [Alabama] losing a lot of defensive backs, so there’s a high chance I can come in and compete and play as a freshman,” he said. “On the LSU side, they’re losing a lot of defensive backs, too, and I look at it like I have the chance to compete and play at a high level.”
The Army All-American said the national championship game on Monday won’t have an impact on his decision. Alabama has made it to the championship game 6 times in the past 9 seasons, but Surtain isn’t concerned about the Tide’s prolonged success.
“I weigh it out like … do I want to go to school and play for championships or write my name out, my legacy out,” Surtain explained. “I’ve been looking at it like that for the past few months. It’s been a hard struggle. This is a tough decision picking my school for the next three or four years and it’s been really tough.”
Surtain heads to LSU on Jan. 12 right after the dead period for his first official visit. He travels to Alabama on Jan. 19. Both of those official stops loom large in the All-American’s upcoming decision.
“I’m going to take these official visits coming up, and from then on, I’ll make my decision,” he said. “It’s just about getting a bond with the players, talking to the coaches and seeing what best fits for me.”
Surtain is planning on making his final decision on National Signing Day.

Trey Sanders talks de-commitment from Alabama
Trey Sanders decided to de-commit from Alabama just a few hours before the Crimson Tide took the field against Clemson for a national title berth.
Sanders, a Class of 5-star running back from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), had been committed to the Tide since the A-Day game back in 2016. While Sanders did take visits elsewhere after committing to the Tide, he showed no signs of actually going through with de-committing. So, why did Sanders decide that Monday was time for him to reopen his recruitment?
“I only get this chance one time to get recruited in high school,” Sanders told SEC Country. “It’s a onetime thing. I’m going to take my time and enjoy the process.
“I was thinking about it for a while and me and my family got together to talk about it. We decided that it would be best for me to open my recruitment back up.”
The nation’s No. 1 running back said there was no reasoning behind him opening his recruitment shortly before Alabama took the field against Clemson. He said that he just felt like it was the right time to go ahead and make that decision.
“It got to the point where I said I just might as well go ahead and do it and enjoy it,” Sanders said. “Alabama is still my top school.”
The coaching staff has reached out to Sanders since Monday. He remains a giant priority for the Tide in the 2019 class.

Between us completely ditching the off tackle run game after the first possession of the 2nd half with our injuries along with Hurts playing like Jordan Jefferson, we put a bow on that game for you guys. Saying that, you still had a ridiculous run

Hard for me to believe a player would go to Tennessee over Alabama because of a coach.
