With the job Kirby has done and if Pruitt can resurrect the UT program I think we see more of our staff poached moving forward. But as long as Saban stays around I will be happy.

Doing some reading on Golding supposedly this guy is a rising star and great recruiter. I never even heard of the guy before, but he is a young guy so that may be the reason.

I really hope so. I keep hearing that he has good Connections in the state of Louisiana and hopefully that will help recruiting there, so we will see

I understand, but there were many times where Henry would have a hole only to get tackled by his toes.

Also, I remember him being tripped up begind the LoS in Bama-Clemson 1.

I was so excited to watch this kid in Crimson and he never qualified

For some reason, this made me remember when Alfy Hill never qualified. There was like a long thread on TideSports about it and was one of my first post there. I was so excited about him as a pass rusher. frick the NCAA.

From what I've read, Pete Golding is an excellent coach and recruiter with ties in LA, TX & MS.

Some Bama posters have said Brick Haley (DL) may be too, with stints in AL, MS, LA, TX & MO. If Dunbar leaves, Haley seems like a good fit replacement, on paper.

ETA: Coaching Changes board thread: MSU, LSU, TX & Mizzou fans: Thoughts on Brick Haley? Thus far, responses do not bode well for Haley's coaching or recruiting.

Is anyone else as thankful as I am that we hired Mike locksley? Without him I don't think we would've reeled in anoma. Locksleys ties in the DMV, make him dynamite on the trail

Alabama signee Christian Barmore breaks down his decision and describes wild recruitment

quote:

Christian Barmore was once committed to Temple. He’ll now play college football for Alabama.

Barmore, a 4-star defensive tackle from Neumann Goretti High School (Philadelphia), signed with the Crimson Tide last week during the early signing period. The rise from Temple to Alabama is attributed to his mentor, Coach Troy Gore, he said.

The nation’s No. 17 defensive tackle said Gore took him to camps around the Northeast. He ended up getting his first scholarship offer at the Lauren First and Goal Camp in Pennsylvania in June from the Buffalo.

Gore would record Barmore’s 1-on-1 reps at the camps he’d attend and pass it along to college coaches. Gore got in touch with Alabama defensive line coach Karl Dunbar in October when Barmore was just a 2-star recruit.

“And the rest is history,” Barmore said. “I’m a late bloomer because I broke my hand last year and didn’t play high school ball. So, in a sense, this was my first year playing.”

Shortly after the Alabama staff saw Barmore’s film, the 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect became one of the Tide’s top overall targets in the 2018 class. He has what you would call the “Alabama mindset.”

In Barmore’s Twitter bio, the 4-star prospect has the phrase, “I will not be outworked.” He applies that phrase to every aspect of his life.

“I’m a competitor,” Barmore said. “It drives me. I feel as though whomever is my opponent, they will not outwork me in the classroom, in life or on the field.”

Barmore’s hard work saw his offer list rise from Temple, Buffalo and Morgan State to Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State and South Carolina among other schools.

The Philly native ended up just taking two official visits throughout his recruitment, one to Alabama and one to Baylor. When he visited Tuscaloosa earlier this month, he knew that he was going to end up playing for the Tide.

He cited the “home” feeling he got in Tuscaloosa, the academic support players receive and how the program prepares you not just for football but in the real world, too. Barmore visited Alabama with his mother, and they were both sold.

“It was a mutual understanding,” Barmore said. “When Coach [Nick] Saban came to Philly and walked down my block and sat on my couch to talk to my mom and my coach while I was in school, he won her over. I think she committed before I did.

“Once we visited Alabama together, we were sold.”

Barmore wasn’t planning on signing early. He was still planning on taking additional visits in January, but he said he didn’t want to prolong his recruitment when he knew Alabama was where he wanted to attend.

And, he never thought he would ever have the chance to play for a school like Alabama.

“It’s a dream come true,” Barmore said. “Not just going to Alabama but reaching to play at this level. I worked extremely hard to get where I’m at and I know I have a lot more to work on.

“My first goal is to learn the process. Learn the culture. Make sure I understand the expectations in and out of the classroom first. I need to work on everything. I’m a high school student getting ready to attend the most prestigious school in the country. So, I have to learn a lot and keep learning until I throw the hat in the air and graduate. That’s always been my mindset, be a sponge.”

Barmore won’t enroll at Alabama until the summer.

So this would indicate maybe he works hard in the classroom and will qualify hopefully.

Exactly and why GA with all the talent has never been that great for us even with the ones we sign. Not saying we have not gotten a few but with it being one of the top states in the country and our next door neighbor you would think we would have a deep pipeline there with Saban at the helm.

This is the one time the NCAA screwed over a recruit and there rules should not have applied in his case. The kid came in for summer school and passed all his courses at UA and the NCAA came back after the summer and said due to some video class he took in HS he was not cleared. hey had already cleared him and he demonstrated he could handle the college load.

BTW A Hill made the Eagles team in 2015 and played. In 2017 was a free agent and not sure if he is still on a roster as I do not really follow the NFL.

It may have already been discussed and Kind of off topic, but do you guys think that we have a serious QB competition this spring? I think it really boils down to how Jalen does in the playoffs but yeah I do think that we should definitely have a serious competition

Jalen vs Tua has been discussed probably more than anything else in the last few months. There are several active threads discussing them.

I like off topic discussions, but goodness, not that topic. The whole board gets assed up with that crap. Anything but that
