Jordan Davis, DE, Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind
Alabama landed Davis, the No. 19 weak-side defensive end in the country, just a couple weeks after offering the Volunteer State talent during his Iron Bowl visit. Davis has continued to see his stock rise earning a number of offers including Florida, Tennessee and LSU. The 6-foot-5, 238-pounder continues to listen to other schools and plans to continue taking visits. “I’m still solid, still rolling Tide,” he recently told 247Sports of his commitment status. “I just want to enjoy the process, and have my momma go places she ain’t never been before. But, I’m still with Bama.”

Akial Byers, DT, Mississippi Gulf Coast (C.C.)
Byers committed to Alabama last July as a part of the 2017 class. However, after not qualifying academically, he'll go the junior college route before joining the Tide's 2018 class. A product of Fayetteville (Ark.), Byers now rates as the No. 3 JUCO defensive tackle and the No. 8 overall JUCO player in the country. He recently reaffirmed his commitment status to Alabama.

Just FYI, BOL still lists Byers as a commit whereas BamaMag (Scout/John Garcia) does not.

Was he running against Special Olympics kids
I was going to ask the same thing, but didn't feel dealing with folks that always find a reason to get offended.
It's not just that he beats the hell out of everyone, but the running styles of those guys doesn't seem right

Bishop Gorman coach arrested
Can't just punch folks in the eye anymore.
quote:
Kenny Sanchez, the head coach of Bishop Gorman High School’s state champion football team, was arrested this week on a domestic battery charge, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has learned.
quote:
I went to say goodbye to my son in the driveway,” the woman wrote in a voluntary statement. “Kenny came behind me and pulled my hair out of my head, punched me in the eye. As I was going down, he punched me on the side of my face and put his hands around my neck. He held me on the ground and ran to his car and drove away.”
Can't just punch folks in the eye anymore.

With Signing Day less than 10 months away, we are beginning to see more and more SEC prospects from the class of 2018 narrow down their lists of top schools.
On Saturday, another top player got in on that trend, as defensive end Vernon Jackson released his five finalists, a list which includes SEC programs Alabama and Texas A&M

The kid on the far left especially looked "off."

I think the guy in lane one must have thought it was the 800 meters instead of the 100 meters

The No. 4 offensive tackle in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings is close to a decision. Following a weekend visit to Ohio State, Franklin (Tenn.) High School lineman Max Wray is ready to shut things down and has identified four high profile finalists to choose from.
"Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and Ohio State," Wray said on Sunday afternoon. "Those are the four schools that I'm zeroed in on."
By narrowing it to those four schools, Wray plans to take the next few weeks with his family to mull over his options before making a final decision that is likely to come in mid-May.
"I just need to ind the place that's going to make me fulfill my potential the best and where I fit in not only as a football player but as a person too," he said. "I'm looking for like-minded people to me and where I just fit in."
Each of Wray's four finalists has hosted the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder on multi-day visits with his family and he's now seen enough to weigh his options without taking any more visits. Wray touched on each of the four finalists and why they're in the hunt.
"Tennessee, it's just the home town team. They've got a great coach in Coach (Walt) Wells and they're definitely on the rise. It would just be cool to play for my state.
"Alabama is the best in the business. They put people in the league every year. It's the best program with the best facilities and the best coaches.
"LSU is really turning things around and I really believe in Coach (Orgeron), Coach (Matt) Canada and Coach (Jeff) Grimes. (General Manager) Austin Thomas is a big part of that too.
"Ohio State, Coach (Urban) Meyer, Coach (Kevin) Wilson and Coach (Greg Studrawa), they're all great coaches and have a track record of being great coaches. They're a powerhouse like Alabama with great facilities and all the guys are really cool. It's just an all-around great place."
Wray expanded on his visit to Ohio State that stretched from Friday till Sunday afternoon.
"I came at like 10:30 on Friday and did the hole tour thing and spent some time with (OL Coach) Stud. We talked to Coach Meyer a little bit and then had dinner with some of the guys at a pizza place. Saturday morning we watched practice, met with Coach Meyer again and I hung out with some of the players Saturday night. Then this morning we met with Coach Meyer and left."
Among the players Wray spent some time with were Michael Jordan, Jamarco Jones and Gavin Cupp as well as some of the early enrollees in the 2017 class like Tate Martell and Baron Browning.
Wray is a U.S. Army All-American and a one-time Georgia commit before opening up his recruitment in early March. Since that decommitment he has emerged as one of the most highly-recruited offensive linemen in the country and has taken unofficial visits to his four finalists as well as Clemson and Texas.

Looks like JJ Peterson was a no-show for Auburn's Spring game:
REC (literally) doing work.
quote:
KN talked about some of the notable no shows. 4* DE Brenton Cox did not make trip but he was apparently a soft commit to coming to the game anyway. Apparently staff did not think he would make it. 4* ATH Nathaniel Watson went to Mississippi State's spring game. Apparently that was always an option and with how many times he's been to AU it's not a big deal that he was in Starkville.
The two biggest no shows were 4* OG Trey Hill and 4* LB JJ Peterson. Hill chose to go to Clemson. KN says Peterson might have been in a fender bender this week and would explain why he couldn't make the trip. Also according to FSU 247 4* S Quindarious Monday was in Tallahassee instead of Auburn Saturday. FSU and UF are in his 2nd group
REC (literally) doing work.

KN talked about numbers for WR & OL after those 2 commits. The Tigers will take 2 more up front both will be OTs. Sounds like we could still take up to 3 more at WR though that's not locked in stone. Could come down to need at other positions but I have to think if Justyn Ross, Matthew Hill and any of Kearis Jackson/Marquez Ezzard/Jacob Copeland/Seth Williams wanted to commit we would take them as well
Bottom line AU still could take 3 more WRs if possible
Auburn took a commitment from a 3-star in-state WR this weekend. We haven't offered him, but their WR numbers is definitely something to watch with Ross and Seth Williams.

KN has VIP article up on 4* QB Joey Gatewood. Apparently he split his time watching the game and recruiting because in his own words "trying to get this class right". He enjoyed watching the offense and still thinks he's a great fit. Apparently he's now close with Chip Lindsey and 100% on board with Auburn. He's focused now on recruiting others. At A-Day he specifically hung around a ton with 5* WR Justyn Ross and 4* RB Asa Martin. Told KN he's confident Auburn will get both when asked why just said "You'll see". Hopes to be back for Big Cat Weekend which is apparently going to be on June 3rd

Sounds like visit went real well with 4* RB Asa Martin. He likes how we looked on offense and spent most of the game with 2017 signees Jordyn Peters and Carlito Gonzalez along with 4* QB Joey Gatewood. Apparently Gatewood was recruiting Martin just as hard if not harder than Justyn Ross at times and all of that had a positive impact. He spent time with Tim Horton, Chip Lindsey and Gus Malzahn on visit. Apparently he had a really good talk with Malzahn that "opened his eyes to some things". Still says UF leads but that it's real close. Doesn't sound like he is gonna announce anytime soon. Sources at AU seem to think momentum has swung back in our way but this will be a battle to the finish

Tigers trending up for 3* DE Caleb Tannor. KN says ignore the ranking, AU is treating this kid like one of the top ranked players in the country. He's been to AU 3 times in the past 2 weeks and stayed late Saturday night bonding with coaches and players. He ended up spending the night. As of now it's looking like AU has emerged as the team to beat but I know UGA is after him as well.
Chances are he ends up a 4* or at least a very high 3* as he has offers from Bama, AU & UGA. Apparently high school he plays at very rarely puts out talent which is why teams and recruiting services have been slow in evaluating him

3* CB Jaycee Horn is apparently a high priority for Auburn. He dropped a top 7 list last night that included AU though I think Bama and Tennessee are considered the top teams right now. An interesting connection is Greg Brown was an assistant on the Saints at the same time as his dad Joe Horn was playing there. Hard to tell exactly where AU stands right now but making the top 7 is a good sign
Interdasting.
