The lone underclassman on the top defensive performers list, LaGrange (Ga.) Troup County edge defender King Mwikuta represented the class of 2019 well all afternoon long. The rising junior has elected to play linebacker over the last two weekends of competition and has made his fair share of plays despite being perhaps more comfortable as a defensive end. Recently telling Scout Alabama, Georgia and Clemson were recruiting him the hardest, Mwikuta's length and ability to redirect makes him among the top 2019 talents in the South. He finished his Sunday with a big interception during seven-on-seven competition.

Four-star Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley 2019 quarterback Bo Nix had another very impressive performance on Sunday. The 6-2, 194-pound Nix showed great poise and did a nice job reading coverages. His mechanics, footwork and accuracy are very advanced for a quarterback his age and with two full years of high school football left to play, he is only going to get better. The Auburn legacy holds an offer from Tigers, as well as Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State among others.

Pierce Quick may have taken the most reps on Sunday in order to earn his invitation to the Future 50 event. The eager Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville standout excelled at offensive tackle with his length, measuring in at 6-foot-6 earlier in the day, and hands. He is a good athlete who can redirect against smaller defenders and he continues to improve his base power against bigger opponents. Quick has exploded on the recruiting scene with offers from all over the country, holding Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Oregon in high regard, among others.

Oxford (Ala.) standout Clay Webb is another Alabamian having a dominant 2017 to this point and he gets some more hardware for his effort with the invitation to Orlando for the next Future 50 event. The four-star anchors as well as any interior linemen in the region and seems immovable if he gets his hands on defenders early in their pass rush. Webb also has above-average feet and can flex his leverage laterally when lining up at different positions. In-state Alabama and Auburn will be tough to ignore in the end, he told Scout Sunday.

Scout eval on 4-star DT Alfred Thomas:
quote:
SOPHOMORE EVAL: Thomas doesn't quite fit the bill at any one classic defensive position but that's okay in today's game. The "tweener" label doesn't minimize playing time any longer as a prospect who can play on the edge some and on the interior at other times is now coveted because of the evolved offenses every team faces. He is quick and powerful in short spaces, yet tough against bigger offensive linemen. Thomas can contribute along a college defensive line or possibly at the second level depending on how his frame fills out.

Gives me a better understanding of what LSU fans went through. It had to be much worse for them though

In-state recruiting is considered the lifeblood of most programs in talent-rich areas.
Alabama has done a great job in recent years of getting the top guys in the state, while at the same time stretching its reach across the country for the top talent abroad.
Just a couple months removed from signing six of the top 10 players in the Yellowhammer State, the Tide staff is back at it in the 2018 cycle.
Take a look at the in-state offers already handed out, and where Alabama stands for each prospect.

The above article is non-premium, but it won't let me copy and paste the blurbs for each player.

Add another in-state prospect to the watchlist for Alabama, as the Tide staff has offered four-star running back Harold Joiner of Birmingham (Ala.) Mountain Brook.
Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Alabama!! #RTR @Wm_Galloway @Keith247Sports pic.twitter.com/BcYHcCvfHj

Joiner was visting Tuscaloosa on Wednesday when he got the news.
As it stands both Auburn and LSU lead for the rising back, however, the Alabama offer could certainly shake things up.
At 6-foot-3, 218 pounds, Joiner is rated the No. 16 running back and the No. 302 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
The 247Sports Crystal Ball reads 50-50 between Auburn and LSU.

Alabama has pulled the trigger on one of the most impressive players this spring who happens to come from the Yellowhammer State.
Harold Joiner, a 4-star running back from Mountain Brook (Ala.) High School, picked up an offer from the Crimson Tide while on a visit in Tuscaloosa.
“It feels great,” Joiner said. “They have a great running game and they’re always ready to compete for a championship.”
The 6-foot-4, 218-pound prospect was offered as an athlete. It’s not a knock on Joiner to not get offered as a running back, but he has the potential to be really good at multiple positions. He ran a 4.76 40-yard dash and had a 37.9 inch vertical just two weeks ago in Atlanta at the Nike Opening regional. While there, he showed the ability to make defenders miss in space and catch the ball out of the backfield.
Joiner has recently told SEC Country that his top two schools are Auburn and LSU. He said that hasn’t changed, but Alabama will definitely be in his top five.
As a junior, he rushed for 744 yards and eight touchdowns with nine catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Sounds like we did offer as a RB, but that 4.76 forty won't cut it in the SEC.

Joiner will end up being an H-back, in my opinion.

Pierce Quick says Alabama is his leader and he may commit this summer.
Package him, Clay Webb and the OT from Minnesota (Quin Carroll) and our 2019 OL class is looking strong. As in Jameis Winston skrong.

That's a hell of a OL class. And that's saying something after the last couple of ones Alabama has inked.

Yeah it is.
We could even go light in this class knowing what's coming next year OL-wise.
Good thing too. We need all the defensive linemen and cornerbacks we can get.

So now it appears we offered Joiner as an Athlete.
