I'm pretty sure there are some guys from previous classes that we got strictly for special teams that weren't rated high.
Got that Books-A-Million money tho...

I get what you're saying and yea as fans we would love to have the higher rated player but for instance Stephen Wynn is the perfect type of defensive lineman for what we do based on film. The way he sheds blockers probably has him rated a lot higher in our coaches eyes than these sites who want to see pass rushing and flash.

Taking a break from watching movers to surf the web.
Some dude on the SECRb is saying Micah Parsons committed to Oklahoma last night.
Apparently no one told the Penn State mods because one of them CB'd Parsons to PSU today.

One of the Texas mods CB'd Isaac Taylor-Stuart to Texas A&M.
If he is willing to leave the West Coast why in the hell would he go to College Station when he could come to Tuscaloosa?
Hell, Sumlin may not even be there next season.

We got a CB for Jaylen Waddle from an Oregon mod.

The CB we got for Kelvin Joseph this morning came from a Vanderbilt mod.
A mod from PrepForce CB'd Joseph to LSU today too.

Alabama will look to make it seven in a row against LSU this weekend in a highly-anticipated matchup between SEC West foes. Both programs often cross paths on the recruiting trail across the Southeast. The Crimson Tide signed a number of top prospects out of the Bayou State in the 2017 class, and you can bet Nick Sabanand staff are once again poised to win some heated battles this go-around for some of the nation's top talent.
Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at five recruiting battles between the Tide and Tigers in the 2018 cycle.

Kelvin Joseph, CB, Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville Magnet
Joseph decommitted from LSU earlier this month. Prior to reopening his recruitment the four-star corner maintained for the better part of a year that Alabama was riding No. 2 behind the Tigers. When he decommitted, Joseph told BamaOnLine that Alabama was tied with his hometown team for the lead. Fast-foward a few weeks and the Tide is now among the top five with LSU remaining the leader. The Top100 defensive back will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend. A big win could certainly change things.

Nadab Joseph, CB, Miami (Fla.) Norland
Joseph also recently backed off a commitment to LSU. The four-star cornerback from South Florida picked up an offer from Alabama in June on a visit for camp and then returned in July. The Tide looks to be the favorite with Joseph expected back on campus this weekend for his official visit. Keep an eye on this one.

Patrick Surtain Jr., CB, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage
Speaking of defensive backs, there isn't a more high-profile prospect than the nation's No. 1 cornerback. Surtain has LSU atop his list, which is partially attributed to having family in the Bayou State. Alabama hasn't let that deter them from pushing for the five-star defensive back. After a visit for the Champions Cookout in July, Surtain said Alabama made a big move for him. He's undecided on whether he'll be at the Capstone for the game this weekend.

Harold Joiner, RB, Birmingham (Ala.) Mountain Brook
Joiner's recruitment has seen several twists and turns with more than one team holding the lead for his signature. The Army All-American says that LSU is on top at the moment. Alabama originally offered the 6-foot-3, 218-pounder as an athlete; Joiner hopes to play running back at the next level, something that appears a possibility in Tuscaloosa. The four-star back originally expressed concern with the loaded depth chart at the position at Alabama. He seems to have come around more at the opportunity as of late. We'll see if Alabama presses for Joiner as the cycle continues. For now, I feel good about my Crystal Ball pick to LSU.

Andres Fox, DE/LB, Mobile (Ala.) Christian
Fox, too, has seen twists and turns throughout his recruitment. At last check Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Stanford look to be the main contenders. The three-star JACK linebacker target grew up an Alabama fan. If the Tide pushes for him it's hard to imagine him committing elsewhere. Both Alabama and LSU are represented on the Crystal Ball.

Quotes from Isaac Taylor-Stuart:
Can someone get Tosh in touch with this kid please?
quote:
"I'm trying to set up a visit with Alabama but me and coach Tosh (Lupoi) haven't been able to connect," Taylor-Stuart said. "I know he's a busy guy but hopefully we can set that up. I'm also talking with Georgia, Texas, USC, Washington, Arizona and Illinois.
"Along with Bama, I would love to visit Georgia too and I'm not sure about the others. I don't have a commitment date set right now but I think I would like to get it done sometime in December. Maybe in late December but I'm just playing it out right now and will see about making a decision after I take a few more visits."

We are closing in on the early signing period in December, and Coach Nick Saban & Co. have plenty to do to help close out a top-10 recruiting class and address several positions of need.
Every month, SEC Country will outline the three biggest items the Alabama coaching staff needs to accomplish on the recruiting trail in order to make that a reality. Here was the to-do list for October. At the end of the month, we revisit those crucial tasks to see if Alabama checked off any boxes.

1. Continue chipping away at quarterback recruits
Alabama certainly accomplished this goal. The Crimson Tide are quickly gaining ground on flipping Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones.
Confidence in Jones eventually joining Alabama is growing. He took an official visit to Ohio State last weekend when the Buckeyes rallied to beat Penn State in a thrilling game. When home teams win games like OSU did in that kind of fashion, it usually does wonders for recruiting, because not only is the stadium filled with excitement but so is the city.
In Jones’ situation, he also got to see Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett complete his final 13 passes and throw the game-winning touchdown with fewer than 2 minutes left on the clock.
Despite all of that, it doesn’t seem like Jones gave any indication to OSU that his recruitment is over.
“Generally speaking, I think there’s still some unease in Columbus,” Land of 10’s Ohio State recruiting reporter Jeremy Birmingham told SEC Country. “Ohio State has invested years into Jones and they’d hoped this official visit would put an end to any and all concerns about the status of his commitment. That didn’t happen.”
Birmingham said that the vibe he received from people in Columbus concerning Jones’ commitment to Ohio State hasn’t been positive “despite no one being able to say specifically why it’s not.”
SEC Country was told by a source close to the Alabama program that Jones was texting with Tide coaches during his visit to Ohio State, which certainly isn’t a negative for the team’s chances of flipping him.
There also remains the possibility of the Under Armour All-American returning to Tuscaloosa this weekend for Alabama’s best remaining home game.
“Right now, it’s very safe to say that things are up in the air, and if Jones returns to Bama for the LSU game this weekend, it could signal the end of his time as an Ohio State commit,” Birmingham said.
It needs to be noted that Ohio State has been upping its communication with Kentucky quarterback commit Jarren Williams. That certainly is a good sign for Alabama that the likelihood of Jones joining the Tide’s 2018 commitment list is growing.

2. Land a key piece to the front 7
Alabama didn’t meet this goal and is approaching the danger zone.
The Tide missed out on getting commitments from Coynis Miller, who chose Auburn over Alabama, and Bobby Brown, who chose Texas A&M over Alabama. What’s not good for the Tide is that this is a down year for interior defensive linemen. Alabama needs several interior linemen in this class as depth isn’t deep heading into next season.
It’s unclear which prospects are going to emerge moving forward.

3. Get JUCO corner Saivion Smith on board
Alabama didn’t accomplish this goal but will likely do so in the near future.
Saivion Smith, one of Alabama’s top cornerback targets, will likely suit up for the Crimson Tide next season. It’s just a matter of when he’s going to announce his commitment. It could happen this weekend when he’s in town for his official visit to watch the team he transferred from: LSU.
But no matter when Smith announces his commitment, I expect him to choose Alabama.

Why a rival’s WR plan should help Auburn recruiting
I wrote extensively two weeks ago about Auburn’s plan at wide receiver going forward.
With Kyle Davis’ dismissal, the Tigers were out a big-bodied receiver. Fear not, there are three left in the 2018 class — Justyn Ross, Seth Williams and Tommy Bush — who have interest in Auburn, and that sentiment has been reciprocated by the coaching staff.
But with all three, especially Ross and Williams, the insecurity of in-state recruiting battles with Alabama creeps in. Ross, Williams and Bush have been linked to both Auburn and Alabama.
Ross is in for an Auburn, Alabama and Clemson battle down the stretch, though it’s actually the out-of-state school favored. Williams has been a mystery. The Tuscaloosa native hasn’t visited Auburn this season despite the Tigers feeling like their the likely candidates to land him. Bush is trying to figure out which schools want him as much as he wants them.
In all three cases, Alabama and Auburn are major factors. But the Crimson Tide could end up doing the Tigers wide receiver recruiting favors as the cycle closes down.
So far, Alabama has one wide receiver committed — Shaun Shivers’ high school teammate Xavier Williams. If you count athlete Slade Bolden, that’s two. In Alabama recruiting reporter Chris Kirschner’s mock recruiting classes, he has Alabama taking two or three wide receivers. Even if you leave Bolden as an athlete, it doesn’t look like there will be much room left at wide receiver.
Jaylen Waddle is set to visit Alabama this weekend, and the Crystal Ball trends show the Crimson Tide look like a heavy favorite. With Jim McElwain’s departure from Florida, a Jacob Copeland flip from Florida to Alabama seems likely. There are others such as Joshua Moore who are also high on the Crimson Tide.
But Waddle, Copeland, Bolden, Moore and others fit a similar build. None of them are the 6-foot-4 or taller type like Ross, Williams and Bush. Whether or not that’s a preference by Alabama or its new offensive staff is unknown, but it looks like they’re keying in more on the smaller, quick-twitch wide receivers than the big-bodied guys.
Auburn already has two of the quicker-twitch type players committed with Shedrick Jackson and Matthew Hill (though they’re both around 6-2). But for the rest of the class, aside from 4-star WR Anthony Schwartz, Auburn is only in the market for the tall, physical type of receiver. With Ross and Williams especially, it’s a boost for the Tigers that their in-state recruiting rival appears to be mostly in the market for the different style.
With Ross, I’ve been told Alabama and Auburn both believe he’s a Clemson lean at this time. Auburn feels it can pull it off down the stretch with a strong finish to the season. The Alabama receiver trend has to signal positive news for Auburn with Williams. As for Bush, Auburn’s best shot will be to score an official visit, which may be more likely to Auburn than Alabama if the Crimson Tide add Waddle or Copeland soon.

Has the ship sailed with the Mormon QB? I haven't heard anything about him in awhile.
Posted on 10/31/17 at 5:47 pm to Cobrasize
He's coming in for an OV this weekend.
I guess if we flip Emory Jones we'll just pay for McKee to have a good time and send him home.
I was never a fan of taking him anyway.
