We're in WAYYYY better shape to defend Spread teams than we were in 2013 and 2014. Trey Depriest and Jeoffrey Pagan aint walking through that door, thankfully.

Saying that we will blow everyone out of the water is arrogant. There are other teams that come very close to our talent level and we have struggled at times this year. One game at a time

TCU would be tough. Ohio State is looking better lately, but only one is getting out of the BIG10 alive. I hope it's Penn State.

The state of Alabama will have a healthy list of football players signing with Division I programs in the 2018 class. With that in mind, SEC Country will routinely rank the Yellowhammer State’s top 15 recruits for the class.
These rankings will be released once a month throughout the football season. The list is based on evaluation by SEC Country reporters, recruiting interest from the two in-state programs, other offers, stats and ratings from the main recruiting outlets (247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout). The star ratings below come from the 247Sports composite.
Here are SEC Country’s top 15 prospects in Alabama for 2018:

10. Jalen Cunningham, 3-star defensive tackle, Saint Clair County — uncommitted
Jalen Cunningham hasn’t had the best coaching in his high school career. That has changed with Matt Glover now at St. Clair County. Since Glover was hired in late February, Cunningham’s recruitment has taken off. Like Mason above, it’s unclear where he can actually commit. Alabama is still evaluating him. If the Crimson Tide want him, he’ll commit to Bama. Though Cunningham is 6-6 and more than 340 pounds, he carries his weight very well. With proper coaching, we believe Cunningham could be a force in the SEC.

8. Andres Fox, 3-star defensive end, Mobile Christian — uncommitted
Andres Fox is on the wish list for Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Stanford, so that provides a good idea of his skill set. He has a solid combination of strength and agility, which is why he ranges from a Buck target to a defensive tackle target. All four of those programs have specific plans in place to utilize Fox in their schemes. He’s showing why as a standout for Mobile Christian this fall.

6. Harold Joiner, 4-star running back, Mountain Brook — uncommitted
Harold Joiner’s college decision hasn’t been as obvious. But when it comes to his play on the field, it’s clear Joiner is one of the best athletes in the country. Is he a running back? Is he a wide receiver? Those questions haven’t been answered yet, but there’s no doubt Joiner will be a difficult asset to defend for whichever program he chooses. This is a guy who is as fast as anyone and can do cartwheels and backflips across an entire football field — all while standing 6-3.

5. Seth Williams, 4-star wide receiver, Paul W. Bryant — uncommitted
Seth Williams is a big-bodied receiver from the Tuscaloosa area. While you may think Alabama is the favorite, it’s Auburn that has the best chance at landing his commitment. Williams is highly coveted by major schools because of his size and how electric he is with the ball in his hands.

4. Asa Martin, 4-star running back, Austin — committed to Auburn
Asa Martin has been a marvelous athlete since returning to the state of Alabama. Don’t be surprised if Alabama tries to make this a recruiting competition as Signing Day approaches because Martin has a skill set that every top program would want.

3. Jalyn Armour-Davis, 4-star cornerback, St. Paul’s Episcopal — committed to Alabama
Jalyn Armour-Davis committed to Alabama over Auburn and seems locked in with his choice. Armour-Davis stands at 6-foot and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He’ll need to add muscle in college, but that shouldn’t be a problem in Scott Cochran’s strength and conditioning program at Alabama. What’s special about Armour-Davis is his ability to play on and off coverage because of his elite speed and athleticism. He’s a state champion in the triple jump and 100-meter dash.

1. Justyn Ross, 4-star wide receiver, Central — uncommitted
Justyn Ross is the No. 1 or 2 wide receiver target for Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Florida State. That tells you all you need to know about why he should be considered the state’s top prospect. There aren’t many receivers in the country with his size (6-4), ability to jump and above-average speed. He’s very tough for any corner to lock down because of his physicality. He still needs to polish his route-running, but he has mightily improved from where he was a year ago.

Finally got Slade’s stats you asked for from local newspaper. According to them: 1,044 yards passing 3 picks. 798 yards rushing. 24 total touchdowns. Through 8 games, but probably closer to 6.25. He’s sat out two complete halves and was out after 1 series in the 2nd quarter this past week. 1,842/24 so far with hopefully 7 more games to play.

Emory Jones, 4-star QB, Heard County High School (Franklin, Ga.) — committed to Ohio State
Jones was arguably the most important and highest-profile recruit in Tuscaloosa this past weekend. The Ohio State quarterback commit arrived at Alabama on Saturday after leading his team to a 49-15 win over Jordan High School on Friday night — a game that saw Crimson Tide defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley and Ohio State quarterbacks coach Ryan Day on the sidelines.
The Under Armour All-American won’t leave Tuscaloosa until Monday, so we won’t know much about how his visit went until he gets back home. Even then, we may not know what he’s thinking.
I quickly chatted with Jones’ coach, Tim Barron, on Sunday, when he told me that his quarterback is trying to keep his recruitment as quiet as possible as he’s “getting hit up from every direction between Alabama and Ohio State.”
I couldn’t find the story, but some Ohio State fans had informed me that Jones told a Buckeyes recruiting reporter that he wasn’t going to visit Tuscaloosa. If so, that would be the second time this year he denied going to Alabama only for him to actually visit.
Make no mistake about it: This recruitment is at a critical point for Ohio State. The Buckeyes have reached out to Kentucky commit Jarren Williams and Virginia Tech commit Quincy Patterson. Ohio State couldn’t afford to sit around and possibly miss out on a quarterback if Jones decides to flip. He’s already gone against the staff’s wishes of shutting down his recruitment, only to visit Tuscaloosa four times this year, which doesn’t include seeing Alabama play in Atlanta for the opener.
Jones is set to visit Ohio State this coming weekend. Will he tell the staff in person that he’s going to flip to Alabama or will Ohio State lock up his commitment? It won’t be a surprise to see him come out with a decision shortly after this visit.

Bobby Brown, 4-star DT, Lamar High School (Arlington, Texas)
You could also make the case that Brown was Alabama’s most important visitor this past weekend with the team needing to land a few elite interior defensive linemen this class.
This will be Alabama’s last time hosting Brown before he makes his commitment on Nov. 2. According to one person close to the program, Brown’s visit couldn’t have gone much better. But, a visit to Texas A&M, arguably Alabama’s biggest competitor at this point, looms this weekend.
Still, the Crimson Tide held a sizeable lead in his recruitment over the summer when he visited for camp. Alabama feels like not much has changed with its chances since then. If anything, this trip helped the team’s chances of landing the team’s top defensive tackle target.

quote:
Emil Ekiyor, 4-star OL, Cathedral High School (Indianapolis)
Ekiyor wasn’t an official visitor because he already took his official visit to Tuscaloosa back on Sept. 30 for the Ole Miss game, but the Michigan commit was back on campus. The importance of him coming back to town is astronomical. He/his family had to pay for this trip on their own dime, and, obviously, Indianapolis isn’t around the corner from Tuscaloosa.
A flip from Michigan to Alabama remains imminent.

Penei Sewell, 4-star OL, Desert Hills (St. George, Utah) High School
Once again, the Sewells were having such a good time to Tuscaloosa that they nearly missed their flight. The first time they visited Tuscaloosa over the summer, the family needed to run to their gate in order to not miss their flight. It happened again this weekend.
I know Sewell hung out with Tua Tagovailoa and Alabama commit Cameron Latu after the game on Saturday. Outside of that, I haven’t heard much on Alabama’s chances. I expect to speak with Sewell’s father Monday.

Antwuan Jackson, 4-star DT, Blinn (Texas) College — committed to Ohio State
There’s really not much concern on Ohio State’s end about a possible flip from the junior college defensive tackle. Yes, Jackson enjoyed his visit, but it’s an extreme long shot for him to end up in Alabama’s class.
