I know Saban likes to take a QB with each class but I don't think we are necessarily in a position where it is do or die. Tyson and Tua's little brother are possibly going to be signed by us, so not taking a QB this cycle isn't all that bad.
0-1 QB
1 RB
3 WRs
3-4 OL
4 DTs/DEs
5 LBs
4 DBS
1 K/P
0-1 QB
1 RB
3 WRs
3-4 OL
4 DTs/DEs
5 LBs
4 DBS
1 K/P

Why sign a RB if they arent top tier talent. Josh Jacobs is a rare 3* and those you dont just find anywhere

We don't need a RB this year.
We may need one if Bo and Harris both leave early.
However, we may already have him committed in Slade Bolden.
He's already bigger, and stronger, than Christian McCaffrey.

Yeah. Given the smaller 'crutin' class size, needs at other positions, uncertainty of whether we lose both Bo & DH to NFL, taking Bolden as a RB/ath makes sense. With him, we don't really need to take another RB. We prolly won't unless it's someone like Asa, or we whiff on some other top targets and end up with room for another RB.

So he's a 5* on 3 sites now? Is that right? So for him to be #41 Composite, that would mean that one site still has him rated REALLY low (like Devonta Smith last year, I believe). Which one is that?
Rivals has him at #99 overall, which still shouldn't make his Composite that low.
A guy on BOL pointed this out regarding Anoma's Composite ranking compared to Jaelen Gill's (who is a Composite 5-star):
It doesn't make any sense.

I don't think we'll take 3 WRs or 4 OLs, but otherwise your breakdown looks good. Well, technically we would be signing 4 OLs because Hunter Brannon would be one of them.

Harold Joiner still says LSU leads, but he did have this to say about Alabama yesterday:
quote:
“They develop great backs of course,” Joiner said of what stands out about Alabama. “You can’t go wrong with Bama. I know if I go there I’ll be like third or fourth string and I would have to work my way to the top. They have great backs.”

So this is kind of odd, but we're already throwing out preferred walk-on offers to Class of 2019 prospects:
However, the statement I focused on is bolded above. Is he implying we have some silent RB and Slot commitments?
Here's his info:

Magnolia (Ark.) High School 247Composite Class of 2019 3-star dual athlete Terry Lambert visited Alabama for the Arkansas game and got some good news while in Tuscaloosa.
Lambert was offered a preferred walk-on spot with the Tide.
"It was pretty awesome," Lambert said. "It’s great to know that the best program in the country wants me to play for them and be on their roster. For right now I have to walk on because they have the top three running backs and slots in the nation and some more coming in from classes of 2018 and 2019. But I will get a full ride after I enroll and start playing. It means a lot to me that they want to include me in their championship spree and help them win more games."

From Rusty Mansell via the Georgia board:
quote:
"I am expecting Mel Tucker at American Heritage on Friday night to see Five-Star CB Tyson Campbell play. Talking again with our South Florida expert this morning Luke Stampini, he thinks UGA is trending right now with him."

Speaking of Georgia, Adam Anderson is announcing tonight. Seeing as we haven't gotten a run of CBs for him I'm assuming he is Athens bound.

Mountain Brook running back Harold Joiner - one of the state's best uncommitted prospects - visited LSU last week and clearly left impressed.
Joiner watched LSU rally from a huge first-half deficit and knock off Auburn in one of college football's biggest comebacks of 2017.
On Wednesday, Joiner received his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey in a 12-minute ceremony after the Spartans' practice, and talk turned to recruiting for the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder, who has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Auburn and LSU.
"No leader right now," Joiner said, before pausing for a few seconds. "I'm not going to lie to you, LSU is the leader right now."
Joiner's teammates joined him for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl ceremony, which formalized his invitation to the national-all-star game set for Jan. 6, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game is televised by NBC.
As a U.S. Army All-American Bowl representative pointed out, only 100 players are invited the game out of an estimated 1 million high school football players.
"This is a huge honor for Harold - 100 players out of a million, think about that," Mountain Brook coach Chris Yeager said. "This is also a reflection of everyone who has invested in Harold."
Added Joiner, "I never thought I'd be in this position. It's a great feeling. I couldn't do it with my coaches and my teammates and also my family."

How reliable is Luke Stampini and what does he mean by trending, UGA is moving up his list or they’ve moved to his top spot?

Stampini is usually pretty tuned in to the kids from the state of Florida, but without context I don't have a clue what he is implying as far as Campbell is concerned.

What in the world???? I thought tyson was our #1 priority and we were trending for some time now. I dont like it, why wouldnt he want to come. He could start day 1. If this is true then we are struggling recruiting the 5 stars while OSU and UGA are hogging them up

I keep seeing people say this. And I wish we were in a position where we didn't have to take one. But you do realize that it's looking probable that both Bo and Damien go pro, don't you?
I keep hearing this, and it just doesn't make good sense. Harris is having a killer year and will be a high end draft pick...but Bo? He's never even had a 1,000 yard season and isn't on pace for one this year either. He has a history of injuries on top of that, which isn't attractive to GM's. Why would he opt out for 4th or 5th round grade when he can come back next year and be the clear cut #1 alpha back on our team and improve his draft stock? At this point, it makes no sense for Bo to go. That said, guys do goofy things...look at Vinnie Sunseri.

Bo was eligible to go pro after last season and he didn't. Maybe because he was injured, I don't know. I can't see him staying another year if he is healthy. The shelf life of running backs is too short especially a back that is somewhat injury prone. Just go pro and someone will draft him.
Posted on 10/19/17 at 10:56 am to tider04
If anything, I think Bo will just want to get paid to play ball. He's been out of high school for a long time now and might feel like he's ready to go earn a nice second contract. Who knows, though? I'd love to have him back, selfishly.

If Bo comes back with a Soph Najee, whoa look out now. Najee looks like a future star. Heck I think he could have a 1000 yd season now. You could look at Bo two different ways, stay and be the Alpha next year, possibly get drafted pretty high, or go and get a lower draft selection but at least you make it with a history of injuries
Posted on 10/19/17 at 11:06 am to seanpendleton10
If Bo ends the season healthy, no way would I risk coming back. A low draft pick makes more than a potentially injured free agent.
Posted on 10/19/17 at 11:10 am to Cobrasize
Saban has always encouraged guys who have anything lower than a 1st or 2nd round grade to come back. Doesn't mean Bo will listen, but that will be what he hears and I think there's some wisdom there. He still hasn't even proven he can be a great college back for a whole season, NFL teams aren't going to risk much on him at this point. Come back as a senior starter and rush for 1,200-1,500 yards and he's a 2nd round pick.
