What’s the latest with Patrick Surtain Jr., Kelvin Joseph and flipping Jaycee Horn?
From @Seagrove_Beach
The good thing with Patrick Surtain Jr. is that the nation’s No. 1 cornerback isn’t planning on making his commitment until National Signing Day. That’s good because Alabama still has some ground to make up with the 5-star prospect. Right now, Alabama likely trails LSU, his longtime leader, as well as Florida and Florida State. The good news for the Crimson Tide is that all three of those teams have struggled this season and are much inferior from a talent standpoint to Alabama. With cornerback being such a major need in this class, perhaps the Tide can gain significant ground in the coming months.
Kelvin Joseph will likely end up committing to Alabama or LSU when signing day rolls around. Joseph de-committed from the Tigers, but he has a really good relationship with that staff. He was back in Tiger Stadium last weekend and hasn’t visited Tuscaloosa once this fall. It’s too soon to say he’ll pick Alabama but he is one of the team’s top safety targets and he’s hearing from the staff almost every day.
Jaycee Horn, a 4-star Tennessee cornerback commit, doesn’t have a committable offer from Alabama. It’s possible he gets one later on, but it’s looking like the team will need to miss out on other targets before they circle back with Horn.

I want 5 or 6 DB's and 5 or 6 DL's. Sometimes we have a high attrition rate lol

It’s very rare for a senior prospect to turn into a blue-chip recruit.
So with that, Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann-Goretti coach Al Crosby called the last few weeks a “whirlwind.”
His recently-minted four-star defensive tackle Christian Barmore has become the hottest recruits in the country.
A 6-foot-6, 297-pound people mover that has quickly put himself in the discussion as the best at his position in the country, Barmore’s combination of size, quickness off the snap, motor and violent style of play has some of America’s best college coaches salivating over a guy they didn’t know existed at this time last year.
October offers have come in from Georgia, Baylor, Florida, Pittsburgh, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State and most recently Miami.
Not bad for a kid that didn’t play as a junior. At this time last year, Barmore was focused on trying to be a basketball player.
“I met him in May,” Crosby said. He coached several high-profile recruits at nearby Imhotep High before moving over to Neumann-Goretti where they are currently 6-0. “It was rumored that his old high school was closing and his coach brought him by. The kid came in and (my defensive coordinator Dwight Thomas) looked at him and said that’s an SEC d-lineman.”
Thomas was spot on, and it only took six months for his observation to be proved correct.
A few college programs saw what Crosby, Thomas and company saw as well.
Buffalo, Temple and Morgan State offered purely based on short and t-shirt camp performances. Barmore committed to the local Owls on June 19 and a few days later he got his first Power Five offer from Maryland. He camped at Oregon in July (his offensive tackle teammate Justin Johnson is committed to the Ducks) and was offered, and Rutgers jumped in at the end of the month.
“He’s eager to learn,” Crosby said.
“When he got the Temple offer he was overwhelmed,” Crosby said. “At the time he didn’t believe it was real he would have an opportunity to blow up the way he has.”
Barmore recently visited Maryland but might not be able to take any more trips till December depending on how far his team advances in the state playoffs. Their schedule is undetermined two weeks out, but if they get some Friday games instead of Saturday ones, he’ll try and go see some of these SEC programs.
“When Temple offered that gave him chills,” Crosby said. “He was blown away by Oregon, Georgia offered and I know that knocked him off and Alabama, it was like wow I just got offered by the Mecca.”
Where Barmore will ultimately sign will be one of the biggest recruiting storylines down the stretch.

Steve Wiltfong on Eyabi Anoma:
- He visited with him today and still feels Alabama is in the best shape to land him.
- Alabama and Maryland are the two staffs he is closest with, but his best relationships are with the Alabama staff.
- Michigan is also in the mix.
- He is being bumped to a 5-star on 247.

Eyabi Anoma is now #15 overall in the Top247 rankings; #41 in the Composite

I thought we were higher on Jarren Williams than Emory Jones? Sounds like we are working hard for Emory. Or is it first one who commits is the one we take?
If it were me, and they were both takes.......I’d lots rather give KY their QB and take one from Urban.

I've seen two different recruiting guys predict Jerome Ford as the RB for this class this week alone.
ETA: Bama3714 mentioned Chris Curry as a possibility at RB last week so maybe he's in play with Joiner going to LSU.

We don't need a RB this year. We need to use that spot on a DL or DB.

So he's a 5* on 3 sites now? Is that right? So for him to be #41 Composite, that would mean that one site still has him rated REALLY low (like Devonta Smith last year, I believe). Which one is that?
And just what of his incredible Junior film and size/speed combo could have had him ranked so low to begin with? Stupid.

I keep seeing people say this. And I wish we were in a position where we didn't have to take one. But you do realize that it's looking probable that both Bo and Damien go pro, don't you?
And with the way RBs get injured (we've had more than 3 injured at a time before), do you really want to only have 3 on scholarship next year? Granted, the 3 are all BIG TIME. But that's extremely risky, nonetheless. I'm pretty sure we're going to sign one.

We don't know for certain that both are declaring for the draft. Also our need at DL is far more severe. The need you're speaking of at RB is purely hypothetical at this point.
That's just my opinion though. If we can't add a stud like Zamir White or Asa Martin; we should put our focus elsewhere.
