WR Devonta Lee
Lee was pressed into defensive duty as well due to an injury and he was outstanding breaking on the ball. He led everyone with three interceptions in 7-on-7 play.

WR Trey Palmer
Palmer had a very good morning session, showing the ability to separate with ease and some good hands, but he was quiet in the evening.

OT Pierce Quick
The Alabama commitment was very solid with length, excellent technique and the ability to use his arm extension to ride players wide.

OC Clay Webb
Webb is massive with amazing lower body strength. He will be one of the top 2019 offensive linemen in the country if he keeps developing.

DE Ani Izuchukwu
Izuchukwu was beyond raw and really had no idea what he was doing coming off the edge. He’s built well and powerful, but lacks refinement in a big way.

CB Derek Stingley
Stingley had a very good morning and was solid in the afternoon. I love his ability to get his head around and play the ball.

Upon seeing her picture, Lane Kiffin reached out to Saban and asked for his old job back. Seriously though, could you imagine that poor girl's life if that hound was still walking the halls of the football office on a daily basis with her there?
I really thought, her being our recruiting director wasn't real, but I really think she's our football recruiting director.

INDIANAPOLIS – After a weekend of great competition, the 2017 edition of the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas is officially in the books. With so much on-field action and so much recruiting news coming out of Media Day, there's plenty to digest. Today we look at the West region and the biggest takeaways that will stay with us after the event.

TAYLOR-STUART IS THE MAN
Isaac Taylor-Stuart is one of the best cornerbacks in the country and he backed it up in a big way at the Five-Star Challenge. First, he took home the Fastest on the Field honors, running a laser-timed 4.44 in the 40-yard dash. Then he looked great in one-on-ones and 7-on-7 and solidified his rep as a possible five-star candidate. USC seems to be a quiet frontrunner for the high four-star from San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine, but he wants to visit Ohio State, LSU and others, so anything can still happen.

SEWELL IS INTRIGUING PROSPECT
Penei Sewell is a really interesting prospect on and off the field. First, the four-star offensive tackle is massive at 6-foot-5 and 340 pounds. At that size, too, Sewell has proven he can play offensive tackle, he’s light enough on his feet and athletic enough to stay outside and handle edge rushers.
Even more interesting is his recruitment. Alabama has emerged as a major contender for Sewell especially after a recent visit to Tuscaloosa. The other school that Sewell said he’s seriously considering: Nevada. That’s because two of his brothers play for the Wolf Pack and there is legitimate interest in joining them. USC, Oklahoma and others remain in the mix, too.

STEELE REALLY IMPRESSED
I’ve really liked Chris Steele this offseason and think he’s one of the best defensive backs in the West, but now I absolutely see why so many top programs are pursuing the 2019 four-star UCLA commit. Steele has length, moves fluidly and defended some of the top receivers.
The Bruins have his pledge and his relationships with coach Jim Mora and position coach Demetrice Martin are playing a big role here. But watch out for Stanford, LSU, Alabama, Ohio State and now Michigan. All those schools have offered and the Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco recruit is planning visits this summer.

Auburn has a long way to go in the 2018 recruiting cycle.
The Tigers have six commitments, and that’s going to grow rapidly throughout the summer and into the fall. Based on the projection below, Auburn will take 19 more prospects in the class to get to 25.
Using the 247Sports composite class calculator, the projected class will finish with 266.91 points. That would be good enough to finish 11th in 2013, 10th in 2014, 14th in 2015, 12th in 2016 and 9th in 2017.
This list is a way-too-early estimation of who the Tigers will land, but it gives an idea of who is trending toward Auburn at this time.
I'll post due to relevancy

Quarterbacks (2)
5-star Justin Fields, Harrison (Ga.): Let’s just get right to it. Fields’ recruitment is far from over. You’ll hear chatter over the next few weeks of visits to all four of the schools he’s considering — Auburn, Florida State, Florida and Georgia. Fields isn’t one to offer up hints on the recruiting front, but he visited Auburn this week. I’ve been given enough reason to believe the Tigers are contenders in the sweepstakes of the best remaining uncommitted football player in the country.
4-star Joey Gatewood*, Bartram Trail (Fla.): Even if Fields were to choose the Tigers, there’s no reason to think Gatewood would back off his commitment. The Tigers need two quarterbacks for depth purposes and Auburn wants Gatewood to be one of those. But if there’s an opportunity to land two elite quarterbacks in the class, do it.

Running backs (3)
4-star Dameon Pierce, Bainbridge (Ga.): The former Alabama commit backed off his pledge to reconsider his college options. Since doing so, he visited Auburn. Just prior to his de-commitment, he mades trips to Florida State, Florida and Auburn. With the Tigers out of it for Master Teague, look for Auburn to turn to Asa Martin and Pierce for feature back options in the class. Ultimately, I expect it to be Pierce.
3-star Tae Provens, Madison Co. (Ala.): As the Tigers search for one feature prospect, Auburn will also look for a versatility option. The two names to look at are Harold Joiner and Provens. With Joiner favoring LSU, Auburn has re-initiated regular contact with Provens who attended Big Cat Weekend and is set to decide Aug. 11. If Auburn makes it clear it’ll use him as a running back, Provens will end up a Tiger.
3-star Shaun Shivers*, Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.): Shivers has the opportunity to do a lot of different things in the Tigers offense — handoffs, jet sweeps, slot receiver routes, etc. With that possibility, plus his chance to run track, Shivers will join the class. He’s already become one of the program’s lead recruiters, including fellow running backs like Asa Martin.
So no Asa Martin for them in this projection. It's interesting they have Pierce in their class though.

Wide receiver (3)
4-star Justyn Ross, Central (Ala.): He could end as a 5-star by the time he’s deciding. The only teams that have a chance to be factors are Auburn, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State, and it feels like an in-state battle. I’ve heard murmurs of a silent commitment to Alabama at the spring game, but his continued returns to Auburn bode well for the Tigers. He has been made priority No. 1 among all prospects, and that’s something that I expect to ultimately separate the Tigers. It’s not always a fair indication to judge opinions of fellow recruits, but few recruits show as much confidence as Gatewood shows when talking about Ross.
4-star Matthew Hill, Brookwood (Ga.): Hill made it clear to the Auburn coaching staff when he left Big Cat Weekend that the Tigers were the front runner to land him. He wants to decide before summer ends. He needs to take a few visits to Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. His childhood Auburn fandom will be the difference-maker.
3-star Shedrick Jackson, Hoover (Ala.): While I wrote earlier in the week Jackson is “pretty close” to a decision, that means he’ll want to wrap it up before summer ends. It could come before August, but he’ll definitely want to decide before his senior year begins. When he does, expect to see Bo Jackson’s nephew add his name to the Tigers commitment list over Mississippi State, Missouri, Georgia Tech and Memphis.
So their guys are predicting Ross in their class and Seth Williams going elsewhere. Our guys predicted the same scenario this week too.

Tight end (1)
3-star Tyneil Hopper, Roswell (Ga.): Hopper has been Auburn’s only consistent tight end visitor in the 2018 recruiting cycle. He visited on Larry Porter’s first day on the job as Tigers’ tight ends coach. Hopper returned for a junior day. He also plans to visit Auburn over the weekend after his 7-on-7 tournament that takes place Friday. Auburn’s tight end recruitment has been a bit of a mystery this cycle, but Hopper seems like the logical option. Follow the visits, as they say.

Defensive line (4)
4-star Richard Jibunor, Athens Christian (Ga.): Jibunor missed Big Cat Weekend, but he didn’t take long to make it back to Auburn. With Georgia looking elsewhere, it’ll come down to Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. He’ll visit Alabama within the next week, which will give him a better idea of where he sits on the Crimson Tide’s board. Ultimately, the Tigers will be too much for anyone to beat with their combination of early interest and his relationship with Prince Tega Wanogho.
4-star Coynis Miller, Jackson-Olin (Ala.): Here’s another prospect who will likely decide between Auburn and Alabama. The Crimson Tide don’t often miss out on a prospect like Miller when they want him, but the Tigers might hold the edge for a few reasons. The Tigers have recruited him longer. He visits the Plains more than anywhere else. He has his high school teammate, Tadarian Moultry, at Auburn. It’ll be a fight to the finish, but the Tigers will win out over the Crimson Tide.
4-star Daquan Newkirk*, Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.: Newkirk’s journey to Auburn has been a fascinating one. He might take a couple recruiting trips to other destinations to get a taste of what those programs are like, but after the Tigers stuck with him through so much personal turmoil, Newkirk isn’t planning on going anywhere else.
3-star Andres Fox, Mobile Christian (Ala.): As I’ve said for a while, it’s only a matter of time before Fox commits to Auburn. He has called it an Alabama, Auburn and LSU race, but Auburn has had an advantage since it became the first team to offer. Fox will be back at Auburn for a few days this week — another sign the Tigers are the likeliest to land him.
I don't think we are after Andres Fox as hard as they are. It would suck to miss out on Coynis Miller, but I think he picks Alabama in the end. Jibunor's stock is getting higher and higher, but I think Quay Walker took his spot.

Top punter prospect Skyler DeLong said Thursday that he decommitted from Tennessee and instead committed to play at Alabama, according to Hank South of 247Sports.
Per 247Sports, DeLong is a 3-star player who is the No. 1 punter recruit in the nation, and he ranks No. 1,579 overall in the class of 2018.
DeLong initially committed to play for the Volunteers on June 1 and said the following about his decision at the time, according to Ryan Callahan of 247Sports:
"They offered me and I was really interested. I've been up there a couple times, and I just decided that's where I want to be. I just felt like the time was right, didn't want to wait anymore. It's one of my top schools, and there's not a school that's better out there, so I was just ready."
In spurning Tennessee for Alabama, DeLong is now set to join a school that will need him immediately as a freshman.
JK Scott is one of the best punters in the nation, but he will be a senior this season.
With Scott out of the picture beginning in 2018, DeLong will have an opportunity to seize the starting punter role at college football's premier program.
