Seth Williams, 4-star wide receiver, Cottondale (Paul W. Bryant)

Prediction: Alabama

Williams grew up an Alabama fan and lives less than 30 minutes away from Bryant-Denny Stadium. His relationship with the Tide has been hot and cold over the past several months, but the team has picked up communication with the big-bodied receiver.

Auburn is recruiting Williams the hardest, but he’s made it clear to SEC Country that he has several family members that want him to choose Alabama. If the Tide keep pushing, I think they get him.

Jalyn Armour-Davis, 4-star cornerback, Mobile (St. Paul’s Episcopal)

Armour-Davis was set to make his commitment this past Friday, but he decided to postpone his announcement to an unknown date. It’s still very likely that he commits before the summer is over.

Alabama is in desperate need of cornerbacks in the 2018 class after signing zero in the Class of 2017, and Armour-Davis is near the top of the wish list. If he had gone through with his decision this past Friday, the Crimson Tide would have landed his commitment.

Prediction: Alabama

Asa Martin, 4-star running back, Decatur (Austin)

Martin picked up an offer from Alabama at A-Day this past April, and the Crimson Tide have made up ground with Florida and Auburn. The in-state running back has emerged as Alabama’s top realistic option at running back.

The coaching staff believes Martin is athletic enough to play on both sides of the ball. Unlike the next prospect we’ll talk about, that is appealing to Martin. If Alabama pushes for Martin at camp in June, I think it could be enough to get his commitment.

Harold Joiner, 4-star running back, Birmingham (Mountain Brook)

Joiner is an interesting prospect. He’s 6-foot-3 and uber athletic. Joiner told SEC Country he can do a backhand spring across the field. But the issue with Joiner is that he may not be done growing.

If he doesn’t grow, he’s going to LSU because he’s set on playing running back. If he does grow, that’s where things get interesting because he’ll likely have to make a position change.

The Tigers staff has told Joiner that he’s their No. 1 choice at the position in the Class of 2018. Alabama doesn’t have much of a chance to sign Joiner because the coaching staff is recruiting him as an athlete and not at running back.

Prediction: LSU

Confidence level: High

Tank Jenkins, 4-star guard, Montgomery (Park Crossing)

Auburn has two interior offensive linemen committed in its recruiting class. It’s unclear if the Tigers are going to take a third. If they do, Auburn will be in a very good spot for Jenkins. If not, my pick is Missouri. His cousin James Foster is Missouri’s 2018 quarterback commit. Foster is actively recruiting Jenkins for Missouri.

Prediction: Auburn

Confidence level: Low

Myles Mason, 4-star safety, Pleasant Grove (Pleasant Grove)

Mason once declared Alabama as his leader. The Tide led for Mason even before he added an offer from the team. He has since backed off that statement. That could be because he needs to camp before getting a committable offer. If Alabama pushes for Mason’s commitment, that’s where he’ll choose. If not, Auburn is likely the team to watch.

Prediction: Auburn

Confidence level: Low

Coynis Miller, 4-star defensive tackle, Birmingham (Jackson-Olin)

Alabama really wants Miller. The coaching staff is in daily communication with him. He recently told SEC Country that the Tide are the team recruiting him the hardest.

?Coynis Miller is a massive priority for both Alabama and Auburn. Offensive line coach Brent Key, Miller’s primary recruiter at Alabama, has kept in touch with the 4-star defensive tackle nearly every single day since he took over recruiting the Birmingham area after Mario Cristobal left. (Chris Kirschner/SEC Country)

With the Tide needing several interior defensive linemen this cycle, it’s hard to see Miller choose any other school. One source close to Miller told SEC Country over the weekend that Alabama is the clear team to beat.

Prediction: Alabama

Confidence level: High

Alfred Thomas, 4-star defensive tackle, Montgomery (Sidney Lanier)

Disclaimer: I haven’t paid much attention to Thomas’ recruitment. I know he’s teammates with Foster, who we mentioned above with Jenkins, and the quarterback told us that he really wants Thomas to join him at Missouri next year. That’s the reason for my pick. I don’t have a better one.

Prediction: Missouri

Confidence level: Low

That is a great looking dog. Never heard of the mix before, but it is definitely something I would want to have. It sounds like you found a great situation for him and that is good.

My wife just got our first golden retriever. I've always had Hound dogs before, but this is probably going to be much better. It's a blast taking her out in the woods, she likes to run and run and run Non-Stop. RTR

If any of you guys have a pissed off significant other, then get them to listen to this song by Jason Isbell. Maybe it will save your arse.
If We Were Vampires
I was hesitant because of the title, but it's a damn good song.

The evaluation period for college coaches to hit the road and scout prospects ends later this month just as college camps are about to get underway.

Let's take a look at what's going on at the offensive line position for Alabama.

Any commitments?

Alabama does not have any offensive line commitments yet in the class of 2018 (but have two for 2019).

Spring update

Offensive line coach Brent Key has been busy attending practices of elite offensive linemen like five-stars Jamaree Salyer (Atlanta) and Jackson Carman (Cincinnati, Ohio) along with four-stars William Barnes (Apopka, Fla.), Rafiti Ghirmai (Frisco, Texas) and Nicholas Petit-Frere (Tampa, Fla.). Cordova, Tenn., three-star Jerome Carvin also played well in his spring game in front of Key.

Indianapolis, Ind., four-star guard Emil Ekiyor is visiting Alabama soon, and he's committed to Michigan. Bradenton, Fla., four-star Reuben Unije is high on Alabama and Warner Robins, Ga., four-star Trey Hill could also camp this summer. Daniel Faalele, all 6-foot-8, 400 pounds of him, a three-star recruit from IMG Academy, is also one to watch.

It's important to note that, barring attrition, Alabama will return 16 scholarship offensive linemen in 2018. Alabama won't sign a big class. They will be picky and get the best to tell them no first. Some, like Park Crossing's Tank Jenkins, need to earn a spot at camp.

Bottom line

Look for Alabama to sign just three, maybe four and perhaps someone like St. Clair County defensive tackle Jalen Cunningham eventually becomes an offensive lineman if he commits to Alabama. One prediction here is Carvin, who plays at a high level and is underrated.

SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Jaycee Horn is a priority defensive back target for Alabama in the Class of 2018, but the Crimson Tide still need to make up some ground in order to land the 4-star prospect from Alpharetta (Ga.) High School.

Horn, the son of former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn, told SEC Country at the Cam Newton 7v7 Memorial Day Tournament that Alabama is still on his mind daily, but it’s another SEC school that has the edge.

“South Carolina is still on top for me,” Horn said. “Coach (Will) Muschamp and Coach T-Will (defensive coordinator Travaris Williams) have done a really good job at maintaining a good relationship with me.”

The 6-foot, 174-pound prospect grew up a fan of Alabama — and even though South Carolina leads for his services right now — it’s my opinion that Horn will be a Crimson Tide commit at some point.

A few weeks ago when Horn changed his leader from Alabama to South Carolina, Tide defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt was at his school that day to watch practice and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley reached out almost immediately to figure out what happened.

Horn is very much wanted by the Tide. His father even thinks Alabama is the closest program you can get to being in the NFL. There’s no doubt that the program will be a factor until he makes a final decision.

“Alabama is always going to be in the running for me,” Horn said. “I don’t know where I’m going to end up yet. Alabama definitely has a chance for me to go there. It’s a pretty good chance. I just really like Coach Ansley and how Alabama plays. I grew up loving Alabama. It’s pretty much been my favorite school since I was born.”

The lead South Carolina has over Alabama is slight. He said if the Gamecocks are at 100 percent right now, the Tide are at 90 percent with the Tennessee Volunteers being at 85 percent.

He believes the depth charts at Alabama and South Carolina are appealing, meaning that the opportunity for early playing time is possible at both schools.

“That’s the main thing I think about when I’m thinking about my decision,” Horn said. “Alabama is losing most of its secondary. Having a chance to come in and compete for a job is everything you can ask for as a recruit. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

It’s possible Horn is in Tuscaloosa this upcoming Sunday for one of Alabama’s camp sessions. The only scheduled visit he has right now is to Tennessee on June 17th. He wants to make it back to South Carolina and Tennessee, too.
