Outside of those four quarterbacks, the options are very limited. You have guys like Trevor Lawrence (committed to Clemson), Justin Fields (Penn State) and Emory Jones (Ohio State) who are listening to Alabama, but the chances any of those three choosing the Tide are small. Tyler Shough, an uncommitted prospect, recently was offered by Alabama, but he hasn’t visited Tuscaloosa and it appears Michigan is surely the team to beat.
Alabama’s depth at quarterback is young. Jalen Hurts is only a sophomore and Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones are both freshmen. The depth chart is not very appealing for a highly coveted 2018 quarterback.
McKee makes the most sense for Alabama because he won’t begin his college career until 2020. The depth Alabama has right now really won’t come into play for him.
Alabama will get a quarterback in this class, but don’t expect it to be a 5-star prospect like last year.

From the Auburn board:

KN put up a recruiting insider this afternoon. Here's summary
- AU feels really good about where they stand in WR recruiting. The staff feels confident they will land 4* Matthew Hill and 3* Shedrick Jackson. They also feel like they are in good spots with 4* Justyn Ross, 4* Seth Williams & 4* Anthony Schwartz. Even tho there's a lot of buzz with Clemson and Bama for Ross, AU staff still feels good about where they stand and feel like the improved passing game this fall will really help. AU also is cautiously optimistic on Williams but recognize that if Bama really pushes it could be tough. As for Schwartz, clear UF leads but AU looks to be #2. Something to watch is his mom is really high on AU
- 4* LB Quay Walker apparently also plans to be at BCW. KN says AU seems to be recruiting Walker harder again
- AU is being very patient at the TE position. KN says staff plans on visiting 3 players this week in the Atlanta area: 3* Ben Bresnahan, 3* John FitzPatrick, & NR Tommy Tremble. None hold AU offers but KN seems to think chances are high one of these guys will be AU's TE signee this year. Not sure if that means we don't think we can land Tyneil Hopper or if we are moving on. Would hate to hear that either way
- Joey Gatewood apparently put up a 11.1 time on the 100m this spring. He's interested in learning more about Bama but still seems locked in with AU
- AU visited commit 3* RB Shaun Shivers, 4* LB Zakoby McClain & 3* S Jamien Sherwood Friday. Sherwood seems likely to stay instate but AU is a real threat
- Sounds like AU has become the clear favorite for 3* DB Juanyeh Thomas. Was shaping up to be an AU/UF battle but it appears Gators not as hard after him as AU. Right now the Tigers have made him a clear top priority. He wants to commit before senior season
FWIW KN also said that AU could take 5 WRs if someone they couldn't say no to wanted jump on board. Someone asked about Jacob Copeland & KN said he thinks AU has backed off some on him

After a brief absence, Alabama is back among the forefront for local receiver Seth Williams' recruitment.
Williams said in March that he wasn't hearing as much from Alabama as he was from Auburn, Georgia and Ole Miss. Those three schools are keeping up the pace, but Alabama coaches are back in constant communication with the four-star receiver from Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale.
"They've picked it up a lot," Williams said. "(Offensive coordinator) Coach (Brian) Daboll has been talking to me and texting me. He came out to see me before track practice before the state finals."
Williams is hearing from Daboll and receivers coach Michael Locksley the most. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound Williams has had a busy spring semester, helping lead the Stampede to a Class 6A basketball state championship as a starting forward and competing well in the long jump, triple jump and 4X100 relay events at the state track finals.
Williams caught 51 passes for 626 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and also recorded 38 tackles with five interceptions and two forced fumbles. Williams also lined up at quarterback some for the Stampede, and he could do the same this fall. Bryant's spring game is Friday night at Huffman.
"Hopefully (starting quarterback Justin) Cannon keeps developing," Bryant coach Eldrick Hill said. "However, he's such a dynamic athlete that there's nothing wrong with (Williams) being back there touching it once or twice."
Williams said the lack of communication from Alabama earlier this spring isn't an issue.
"I think it was the coaching changes (on offense) and what-not, the championship game and them coming up short there," Hill said. "Everything stalled off a little bit. They reassured him that he's one of their No. 1 guys."
Auburn hasn't stopped in their pursuit. Williams said Auburn coaches "want to get me over there for their Tiger camp. They want to see me over there more." He was invited to Auburn's Big Cat Weekend for June 3, but thinks he will be out of town that day.
"They understand recruiting and understand you're going to miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take," Hill said. "They understand not all kids want to go to college where they grew up."
When Eldrick Hill took over the Paul Bryant football program before the 2014 season, he knew there was work to be done.
And with that, Hill took the conversation to another school that's rarely ever mentioned with prospects in Alabama: Maryland.
The Terrapins had two coaches recently watching a Bryant practice - former Alabama staffer Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, the defensive backs coach and receivers coach Chris Beatty. They told Hill before that they could offer Williams to "boost his offer numbers up," but Hill doesn't want schools offering his players unless they are serious.
"By the time practice was over, he said, 'You tell that kid he's got a home at Maryland if he wants it,'" Hill said. "Baltimore, D.C., interesting place. You never know with kids, what triggers then and what they fall in love with."
Williams said he hopes to visit Maryland this summer.
Right now, he's focused on his team and will set summer visits after spring practice. Williams, who nearly committed to Florida State in January, likely will wait until after the season to make a commitment.
Bryant made the playoffs for the first time in Hill's tenure last fall. This is Hill's fourth season and Williams' class was the one he pointed at when he took the job as one that could lead the Stampede to new heights. Williams is a big part of that.
"He's always been a leader, but is now stepping up to be more vocal," Hill said.
"On the field, he's just grown into a beast. He's always been big, but he's starting to realize with his size and his speed, how powerful he is."
Off the field, Williams has been just as impressive heading into his last round as a high school football player.
"I came up Sunday before spring practice," Hill said. "While I was up there cutting the grass, he was leading the charge with four or five other guys working out on their own, understanding that you've got to get the extra work in."
Williams is ranked as the state's No. 3 prospect, No. 11 receiver and No. 112 national recruit in the 247Sports composite. Check out his highlights.

Here's the seemingly weekly "Auburn Crystal Ball Love Fest" from Keith Niebuhr:

With six commitments, Auburn has approximately 15-16 spots left to fill in the 2018 class.
Who will the Tigers land?
That can't be predicted with 100 percent accuracy. For starters, National Signing Day is more than eight months away. Second, we are, after all, dealing with teenagers, whose minds often change with the wind.
That said, generally speaking the 247Sports Crystal Ball seems to be a fairly good indicator of where a prospect will sign -- especially as you get closer to a recruit's decision date.
So, who is Auburn trending for in the Crystal Ball? And who do the Tigers trail for in the eyes of the pickers?
With Big Cat Weekend -- Auburn's signature recruiting event -- just a few weeks away here's a quick look at some of the primary players the Tigers are involved with in this recruiting cycle:

quote:
5-star WR Justyn Ross
My Crystal Ball pick: Auburn
Level of confidence: Medium/low
Breakdown: It's an all-out battle for the state's No. 1 recruit between Auburn, Alabama and Clemson. He'll be at Big Cat Weekend on June 3 -- and his mother probably will be with him.
I'm surprised he still has Auburn as the pick.

quote:
5-star QB Justin Fields
My Crystal Ball pick: No pick made
Level of confidence: N/A
Breakdown: Fields is committed to Penn State, but that seems a little shaky. Florida may have the best chance of flipping him, with Auburn next.

quote:
4-star OG Trey Hill
My Crystal Ball pick: Georgia
Level of confidence: Medium
Breakdown: The Tigers keep hanging around, but most think it'll be Georgia or Clemson with FSU also near the top.

quote:
4-star OT Richard Gouraige
My Crystal Ball pick: No pick made
Level of confidence: N/A
Breakdown: Florida holds the lead with LSU possibly next ... but Auburn is in contention and continues to heavily recruit him.

quote:
4-star RB James Cook
My Crystal Ball pick: No pick made
Level of confidence: N/A
Breakdown: Cook is committed to FSU, but is looking around and will visit Auburn this summer.

4-star CB Jordan Miner
My Crystal Ball pick: No pick made
Level of confidence: N/A
Breakdown: Gators lead in the Crystal Ball but could Auburn be a darkhorse? He has said he'll visit the Tigers.

quote:
4-star OT Dylan Wonnum
My Crystal Ball pick: No pick made
Level of confidence: N/A
Breakdown: South Carolina seems to be trending up, but watch out for Georgia.

quote:
4-star CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
My Crystal Ball pick: Auburn
Level of confidence: Medium/low
Breakdown: Two-team race between Auburn and FSU. Both programs like their chances. Armour-Davis seems like a good personality fit at Auburn. Does that give the Tigers an edge? Maybe -- but this is a toss-up at the moment. He'll likely announce a commitment this summer.
It's almost as if he goes out of his way to NOT mention Alabama.

4-star WR Matthew Hill
My Crystal Ball pick: Auburn
Level of confidence: High
Breakdown: Unless something dramatic changes, we think Hill is Auburn bound.

4-star LB Michael Harris
My Crystal Ball pick: Ohio State
Level of confidence: Medium/Low
Breakdown: If Ohio State pushes, we like the Buckeyes' chances. Auburn is running No. 2.

quote:
4-star OT/OG William Barnes
My Crystal Ball pick: Florida
Level of confidence: High
Breakdown: The Gators are the team to beat, but Barnes plans to ride this out for awhile.

4-star LB JJ Peterson

4-star RB Harold Joiner
My Crystal Ball pick: Auburn
Level of confidence: Low
Breakdown: We've given serious thought to changing our pick to LSU.
