Non-VIP post from a dude on BOL regarding Trevor Lawrence:
quote:
I'm Cartersville High alum. Little sister is a senior. Went to visit her yesterday, and had lunch withher. Trevor and a couple other guys were at the 4way Diner(awesome little place btw). Trevor is listening to what Daboll is selling. He was definitely intrigued by the play calling at ADay. He's all Clemson for now, but at least he's listening. According to Trevor, Bama is the only school outside Clemson that he still has any legit interest in. Told me he was torn. Wants to camp at Bama this summer, but will be very busy getting Cartersville ready for a return to the state championships. Just thought I'd share. Miller Forristall is in his ear constantly.

Plaquemine defensive tackle Nelson Jenkins reported an offer from Alabama on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound LSU commit pulled the trigger on LSU's overture this spring, switching his initial commitment from Kansas. The Tigers and Jenkins appeared locked in, but his latest offer may shake things up a little bit.

Jenkins' offer list is small, but features a pair of heavy hitters. Jenkins recently visited LSU for the Tigers' spring game, and his primary recruiter is defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who serves as the area recruiter.

Recruiting sites continue to undervalue Louisiana recruits
This is a problem every year, as guys like Patrick Queen in 2017, D.J. Chark in 2014 and Nelson Jenkins in this class continue to be overlooked as top-notch prospects. Move those guys to Texas, Georgia or Florida and they would all be four-stars.

If Henry Ruggs III, last year's star receiver for Lee-Montgomery, was somewhere on the practice field, teammate JaKorey Hawkins was right there with them.
Of course they were teammates and friends, but this was all business.
Ruggs was one of the state's top players last year and signed with Alabama to play football in February. Hawkins, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound rising senior cornerback, took every chance he could to match up 1-on-1 with Ruggs in practice.
"Our DBs (defensive backs) coach would always talk about how good he was, saying he's going to be the top receiver in the nation, which he is," Hawkins said. "He said. 'You need to go against him every day because he's going to be the best receiver you face throughout your life.'"
It certainly helped Hawkins, who has now emerged as a three-star recruit and is ranked as the state's No. 17 player by 247Sports. He has close to 20 offers, including Auburn, Penn State, Maryland, Ole Miss, Missouri and West Virginia.
"That man has worked himself into being a good football player," Lee coach Tyrone Rogers said. "He's very coachable. He listens. He has his talent, but he's worked himself into a good football player. That's why he is deserving of everything he's receiving. He's a good kid. He does well in the classroom. It's not a surprise that he's gotten the opportunities that he's having."
Hawkins' practice habits carried onto the field. He had 33 tackles, 10 pass deflections and two interceptions for Lee, which would have made the Class 7A playoffs if not for early-season forfeits due to an ineligible player.
Even if Ruggs was shifted to another receiver position, Hawkins would change positions in the secondary to line up against him. Ruggs ended up as the Class 7A Offensive Player of the Year.
"His speed and his height (stood out)," Hawkins said. "He jumps like he's 6-foot-5 and he's a very physical receiver. He prepared me."
Hawkins' versatility and confidence has stood out to his teammates and college recruiters.
"JaKorey has always been a confident kid," Rogers said. "He's always had that air of confidence. He's not a very vocal guy, but he leads by work ethic."
The Auburn offer stands out for Hawkins because it showed him that hard work pays off. He's being recruited by Alabama assistant Derrick Ansley, but an offer hasn't come from Alabama yet. Other schools are still wanting to see him make more tackles, he said.
Hawkins is eyeing an August commit date.
"I don't have a favorite yet, I have to evaluate and see," Hawkins said. "(Top factors are) Commitment and how long I think the coach will be there. If I commit, I don't want anybody to leave right away."

The Collegiate Commissioners Association on Monday approved a 72-hour signing window for December in college football.
In other words, an early signing period has been approved.
The early signing period for Division I will run from Dec. 20 to Dec. 22, 2017, which is the first three days of the midyear junior college signing period.
College football previously had one signing period beginning on the first Wednesday of February. That signing period will remain.
Prospects will now be allowed to start taking visits after April 1 of their junior year of high school. This change will not go into effect until April 1, 2018, so recruits signing in the next cycle can take official visits only after the start of their senior year of high school.

The NCAA Division I Council approved last month an early signing period for football.
The NCAA's approval of the early signing period is merely a recommendation, as the Collegiate Commissioners Association -- which governs the National Letter of Intent program -- had to sign off on the change before it could take effect.
Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a conference call with media that there was no reason to believe that wouldn't happen.

MADISON, Ala. — Alabama football signee Kendall Randolph will have plenty of friends once he arrives in Tuscaloosa to start his career.
Randolph, a 4-star offensive lineman out of Bob Jones High School, has played football with or against 2017 signees Kyriq McDonald and LaBryan Ray since he was in grade school.
McDonald, who enrolled at Alabama in January, was one of the top athletes and defensive backs in the state. Ray, who enrolls this summer with Randolph, is a composite 5-star defensive lineman.
“Those are my boys and I’ve been playing with them since I was about 6 years old,” Randolph told SEC Country. “For them to be going to Alabama with me is basically a dream come true.”
McDonald participated in spring practice for Alabama, and had an interception during the A-Day spring game. Randolph said McDonald has told him what to anticipate for the workouts at Alabama.
“Basically, he said expect the worse because it’s not easy,” Randolph said. “I expect that though. Just go in and work hard and everything will work out.”
With Ray playing defensive line and Randolph playing on the offensive line, the two have matched up a lot since middle school.
It began in seventh grade and continued through their high school careers with Ray attending rival James Clemens in Madison, Ala.
Randolph said Ray is one of the two best defensive lineman he’s ever faced along with 2017 Michigan signee Aubrey Solomon.
A highly regarded offensive lineman, Randolph ranked as a unanimous 4-star recruit by all the major recruiting outlets.
He is the younger brother of former Alabama basketball standout Levi Randolph. Randolph chose Alabama over Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, LSU and Michigan.
Randolph said he can play any spot on the offensive line, but he has focused mostly on guard. He’s built a great relationship with Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key.
“Things Alabama can expect from me is I’m going to work hard,” Randolph said. “I’m never going to lay down. Once I get in a dog fight, I’m gone battle and I’m not gone give up. I’ve been competing with brothers, my family and people around here all my life. They can expect me to work.”

Owen Pappoe still strongly considering Alabama
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There was a time when Owen Pappoe was considered a football prodigy like Dylan Moses. Since the eighth grade, Pappoe looked like he was going to follow the Alabama freshman linebacker’s path and choose the Crimson Tide. But there’s some competition now.
Pappoe, a 5-star linebacker in the Class of 2019 from Grayson High School (Loganville, Ga.), has been projected to commit to Florida State when he makes his decision following his senior season. The reason for that is because four of his teammates at Grayson, who are all 2019 prospects, have committed to the Seminoles. The ‘Noles commits and Pappoe are very close friends, but their decision to choose FSU won’t play any factor in his own commitment.
“I’m going to make my college decision based on what I feel is best for me and not my teammates,” Pappoe told SEC Country at the Nike Opening regional this past weekend. “Those are my boys, and I would love to play with them in college, but this decision is for me. I saw my (247Sports) crystal ball jumped up to like 70-something percent for Florida State, and I was just like, ‘Wow.’ I’m making my decision for only me.”
The nation’s No. 4 overall player in the Class of 2019 and No. 1 outside linebacker per 247Sports composite rankings has been to Tuscaloosa several times since he’s become a national recruit. Alabama has recruited Pappoe since he was an eighth-grader.
Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi and assistant director of player personnel Sam Petitto have all been in Pappoe’s ear about committing to the Crimson Tide.
“I have a great relationship with all of them,” Pappoe said. “They’re a winning program and I want to be a part of something like that.”
Although Pappoe is listed as an outside linebacker on scouting services, he is being recruited by the Tide at outside, middle and inside linebacker plus at the star position, which is the Tide’s name for their nickelback spot in their defense. There’s no preference when it comes to where Pappoe plays at the next level. He just wants to see the field.
Pappoe was supposed to release his top 10 schools this past Sunday, but there was a technical difficulty with the edit he was going to release on Twitter. When he does release his top schools list, Alabama is going to make the cut.
“I can get a top-notch education there and they win a lot,” said Pappoe, a future journalism major. “I know I would get some rings if I went there. They always produce players for the league.
“All of the schools in my top 10, academically, are going to make sure I’m set. Now, it’s just a matter of figuring out how I’m going to fit into their defense. That’s what’s going to separate schools from the next.”
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect says he’ll be back in Tuscaloosa this summer. He’s also planning trips to Michigan and Ohio State, two schools which are expected to be in his top 10. The good news for the Crimson Tide: They are going to be in the mix until the very end.
“I just feel like I’m home every time I’m over there,” Pappoe said. “They are definitely one of my top schools.”

Top 2019 DE reacts to Alabama offer
Joseph Anderson is one of the hottest recruits in the country. In the past five weeks, the 2019 4-star defensive end from Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has added offers from Alabama, Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State.
Anderson told Land of 10’s Tyler Donohue what he thought of the Crimson Tide offer.
“It’s big because they bring in guys who are already ready, and I feel like I’m already ready,” Anderson said. “It’s definitely a place where I can see myself playing.”
Anderson is rated as the nation’s No. 7 defensive end in the Class of 2019.

Elite 2019 DE Joseph Anderson feeling the call of in-state Vols
Joseph Anderson, a 4-star defensive end out of Murfreesboro, Tenn., is among the best players in the state of Tennessee in the Class of 2019 — 247Sports ranks him below only LSU corner commit Maurice Hampton.
Given Tennessee’s recent focus on in-state players, that’s a sure-fire guarantee that the Vols are going to push hard for Anderson, ranked the No. 7 strong-side defensive end and No. 56 overall player in the Class of 2019 by 247Sports.
But as he told Tyler Donohue of Land of 10, the biggest pressure Anderson has felt to land in Knoxville hasn’t come from the coaching staff, it’s coming from the people he sees every day.
“It’s absolutely every day,” Anderson told Donohue. “Every day I go to school, it’s ‘Commit to UT! Commit to UT!’ It’s the teachers and everyone.”
Anderson was on Tennessee’s campus for the Orange and White game, which he estimated was his “sixth or seventh” 180-mile trip along I-40 East from Murfreesboro to Knoxville.
Anderson has 17 offers including Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Ohio State. Tennessee and Notre Dame are currently considered the favorite to land Anderson by the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.

Nick Saban and staff, particularly Co-Defensive Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach, Tosh Lupoi, have tapped into the vein of West Coast talent. Two members from the 2018 class, inside linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu (6-3, 210 lbs) and offensive lineman Tommy Brown (6-6, 320 lbs) and 2019 quarterback J.T. Daniels (6-1.5, 212 lbs) made the pilgrimage to Alabama. The highly recruited players from perennial powerhouse Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, CA), coached by former USC Trojan Bruce Rollinson, were accompanied by Steve Daniels, father of J.T.
BamaMag.com spoke to Steve, a Detroit, Michigan native, about the visit. “What a beautiful place. Tuscaloosa is amazing,” he replied. A plethora of out-state players occupy the Alabama roster, a fact duly noted by the travelers. “The goal is to get the best-of-the-best wherever they find them. That’s nice to see. There is a ton of competition there and that’s what it is all about.”
Practice observations revealed that opportunities exist for early playing time. “It was high energy and intense. Coach Saban is a real professional. They have the one’s, two’s, three’s and four’s playing against each other on a rotational basis all happening at the same time,” stated the former high school honorable mention All-State linebacker/quarterback for Utica HS (MI), an east metro suburb of the Motor City. “The drills are showing you can come is as the fourth stringer and go ahead and win a job. It is right there for you. This is a way to prove it on the field at all levels. That was pretty cool.” He added, “You have some great players out there competing for a job. If you win a job, you know you have great players surrounding you. You are playing for a national championship every year when you’re talking about Bama. Those are some pretty exciting points.”
The New Tide Offensive Coordinator impressed Daniels. “He is such a sharp guy. I think Coach Saban nailed it with Coach Brian Daboll. You will see more strong young quarterbacks come into the program. The kind of offense he is going to run is more quarterback friendly than most.” Passing schemes are geometrical in nature with options meticulously designed to enhance the chances for success. “The looks are right in your vision almost like a triangular easy way to view the field of receivers.”
Western Michigan graduate Daniels, a first time visitor to Tuscaloosa, had never met Nick Saban. “Coach took everyone into his office individually. I went in with J.T.” The disciplined task master laid out his philosophy for developing young men into adults. “If you start for two years, you’re likely headed for the League at most positions. That isn’t true with quarterbacks yet, but I think Coach Daboll will reverse the trend.”
Extensive research of a limited number of schools is the method Daniels prefers to embrace in the recruiting process - in essence quality trumps quantity. Washington and Alabama are the two programs unofficially visited thus far with Stanford next up in May. Local trips to UCLA and USC are certain as well. A complete tour of the campus included surveying the Paul W. Bryant Hall – Academic Center - and spending time with a counselor. He is interested in studying cognitive psychology. Mater Dei High School has a reputation for excellence in academics and athletics. Striving to achieve against the highest level is promoted.
Leaving the state of California is definitely within the realm of possibility for the junior to be highly sought after quarterback. J.T. was born in Chicago and the family moved 12 plus years ago to the Los Angeles area. J.T., Brown and Tuliaupupu loved the campus and competitive atmosphere according to the elder Daniels. “Tommy has loved Alabama at birth since his Dad was a shot putter for the Tide. Solo wants to compete against the best, pure and simple. There are great programs in California and around the country as well.”
Criteria to sort through the coast-to-coast offers have been formulated. “We are trying to compartmentalize five things that are very important,” Daniels states. “Pride, tradition, academic excellence, the ability to play at the highest level for national championships and being developed by a great offensive coordinator are some of the factors to consider in the decision. Alabama checks a lot of those buckets off. The population and academics are growing. It has a really good feel to it.” Daniels said his son will return to Tuscaloosa for a football camp (July 16-18).
Among the other teams to receive future looks are Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami (Fl), Georgia and Texas. “Most of the choices are multiple in offensive formations and personnel packages,” he replied. “More likely than not they put more on a quarterback than clapping your hands after you saw the signals come in from the sideline. Those systems are amazing but not the best fit or what J.T. enjoys doing. He likes coming up to the line of scrimmage, making the pre-snap read, identifying the mike LB, setting the pass protection and converting the receivers routes concepts with his eyes after recognizing the coverages in three or four seconds. Hopefully, he can get it down to one-and-a-half seconds.”
No surprises on the junket. “The coaching staff was extremely hospitable. They are wonderful people,” said Daniels. “You can tell they are hard workers, in the office early and staying late. I think they do it because they love it. If you can get yourself into that football room, there is a level of respect that everyone shares with each other and a common goal.”
A West Coast bond was formed over the years as J.T., current Bama freshmen Tua Tagovailoa and Najee Harris competed against each other in seven-on-seven high school tournaments. He met Texan Jalen Hurts at an elite camp, too. Daniels describes his son’s finest attributes as, “His aptitude and ability to process, football IQ and passing accuracy are his strong suits. You want someone to make quick decisions and be on time and target. He is pretty consistent at those things.”
Time will tell if the dream of luring any of the three California players to Tuscaloosa becomes reality?

No. If NSD were today no chance in hell you'd get Jobe. TBH, You have a better chance of getting Gurvan Hall (kid Saban took the Helicopter ride to visit at his HS) than getting Jobe. Also I'm surprised how all of yall view Jobe as a CB instead of a S.
Also, I'd be surprised if you guys didn't get Copeland. I can't see UF beating you out if you actually want him. But I'd bet yall would prefer to just get Xavier Williams, Justyn Ross, and Maybe Joshua Moore. Copeland definitely isn't as good as X or Ross. And Didn't yall take 4 WRs last class? Don't think yall need another 4.
