GULF SHORES, Ala. — It was a successful weekend at the Alabama High School Athletic Association state track and field meets for many Auburn football prospects.
Between Gulf Shores and Cullman, six signees, commits or targets put in strong state championship performances — many of which resulted in gold medals. Take a look at how many of the state of Alabama’s top football players performed in a track and field setting over the weekend.
Auburn fans will enjoy the versatile athleticism the Tigers could be adding to their repertoire.

4-star CB target Jalyn Armour-Davis, St. Paul’s Episcopal
Jalyn Armour-Davis, the top defensive prospect in the state of Alabama, showed why he has programs drooling over his athleticism, putting in gold medal performances in both running and jumping events on the final day of competition.
He started off his Saturday with a first-place performance in the triple jump, and he didn’t even use his last two available jumps because he’d already lapped the field and the event overlapped with the 5A 100-meter dash (more shortly). Armour-Davis’ worst triple jump of the day — 44 feet, .75 inches — would’ve won him the gold.
But his best went for 44 feet, 5.5 inches.
Back to the 100 meters, which turned out to be a non-contest for Armour-Davis. He flashed his 4.4 speed with a 10.87-second run — the only person in 5A to break the 11-second barrier. The race gave Armour-Davis his second gold medal, which were his first two individual state championships in his career.
“It was good to get the wins. I wanted to set some personal records. Unfortunately I didn’t, but it’s always good to get gold,” Armour-Davis said. “It was my first time winning any individual events. It feels good. I’m glad I have another year to do it.”
Armour-Davis added a new event this year. He tried the long jump. He found success in his first year competing in the event, placing fourth with a best jump of 21 feet.

4-star WR target Seth Williams, Paul W. Bryant
At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Williams shouldn’t be able to do some the athletically gifted things he’s able to do. The 4-star wide receiver from Tuscaloosa flashed his top-tier athleticism over the weekend in running and jumping events.
Williams’ two best performances of the weekend came in the individual jumping events.
He started his weekend with a bronze-medal showing in the high jump. Williams cleared the bar at 6 feet, 6 inches. The winner of the event jumped 6 feet, 10 inches.
Williams also fared well in the long jump. While he set a 24-foot standard for himself, the wind patterns challenged that. Ultimately, his best jump of the day went 21 feet, 1.25 inches, and the eventual winner — the same participant who bested him in the high jump — cleared 23 feet, .5 inches.
He also played a role in the 4×400 relay team that missed the podium but finished in 3:29.38.
While Williams would’ve like to have won one event, here’s the most impressive part of this all: This was his first year every competing in any track event.
“This was my first year doing track, so those were my first medals. I couldn’t be mad about not getting first because this was my first year. But now I’ve seen what I need to get better at and learn so I can finish on top next year,” Williams said.

- 3-star CB target JaKorey Hawkins was the first leg of Lee-Montgomery’s third-place 4×100 relay team. He also qualified for the 100-meter dash semifinals.

Not at the Gulf Shores meet, 3-star DE target Andres Fox came in second place in the javelin by throwing it 152 feet, 3 inches. In the discus, Fox came in 11th with a best throw of 110 feet, 2 inches. He took 20th in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 1 inch.

Bonus: 4-star Alabama WR signee Henry Ruggs isn’t an Auburn signee or commit, but he’s a name the Tigers will hear a lot of in coming years. He joined Hawkins on the relay team, but his claim to fame from the weekend was breaking the 7A 100-meter dash record with a 10.58-second championship run.
Our WR corps is going to be ridiculous moving forward.

As I've said multiple times these last couple months, it's not just Alabama fans who seemingly have lost some of their recruiting interest, but Alabama mods.
The Auburn mods are straight whipping Alabama mods' asses out on the road.
Here's another article from an Auburn mod regarding who could be the next to commit. I'll post the ones we have offered.

Matthew Hill, WR, Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood: Auburn appears to be in great shape for the No. 137 recruit in the 247Sports Composite and could be closing in on a commit. He's a lifelong Auburn fan and has developed a strong bond with receivers coach Kodi Burns. We think there's a chance Hill could join the class by the summer. He has a scheduling conflict and can't attend Big Cat Weekend. He would be Burns' biggest commitment to date.
We've offered, but I highly doubt he has a spot right now.

Quindarious Monday, S, Atlanta (Ga.) Carver: The 4-star defensive back has Auburn in front big and is all Tigers at this time. It wouldn't surprise us if he joined the commit list in the near future. In fact, he potentially could do something Big Cat Weekend, which is June 3. There is no clear-cut No. 2 program -- another good sign for the Tigers. Georgia is trying to make a move, but Monday continues to call Auburn his leader. The Tigers look to be in great shape.
I haven't heard much on him other than the day we offered.

Andres Fox, DE, Mobile Christian (Ala.): Auburn is battling Alabama and LSU and landing his signature won't be easy. But the Tigers offering early helped -- so does his relationship with the staff. Auburn visited Fox last week and will return soon. The 6-feet-5, 232-pound Fox wanted to commit to the Tigers earlier this year, but his mother wants him to take his time. Could Auburn get him on board the weekend of June 3 should he visit for Big Cat Weekend? We think there's at least a possibility.
I'm starting to think he ends up on the Plains.

Jalyn Armour-Davis, CB, Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s Episcopal: This is a real battle between Auburn and FSU that sounds like it could go either way. So why does Armour-Davis make this list? Because there's a very good chance he'll have a decision sometime this summer, which is right around the corner. The Tigers need an elite corner in the class and Armour-Davis might be their top target. The staff at Auburn thinks he is a great fit with the culture of the program.
I'd love to get a peek at our CB board. If Christian Tutt doesn't have a committable offer, then who does? Does Armour-Davis?

Richard Jibunor, LB/Buck, Athens Christian (Ga.): Auburn appears to be in fairly good shape for the 4-star recruit at the moment, but he hasn't visited in awhile. The Tigers were in Athens last week to stop by Jibunor's school and will return soon. Georgia has the potential to push the Tigers, but hasn't yet started to heavily pursue him. Alabama could be another team to watch. Right now, though, the Tigers have the lead in our opinion. He's close with the staff -- and likes the fact the Tigers have two Nigerian natives (that's where he's from) on the roster.

For reference, this is how Fox compares to Jarez Parks in the shot put:
quote:
The Alabama commit is an accomplished shot put and discus thrower. Last week, Parks won state in both categories, with a shot put toss of 17.16m, and a discus throw of 57.24m, a state record.
17.16 meters is 56.3 feet. Parks beat Fox by 20 feet.

Luke Stampini on Jarren Williams:
quote:
Kentucky remains in a good spot despite his recent decommitment.
He plans to commit before the fall.
I thought he had the 2nd best QB performance overall today behind Trevor Lawrence.
I think he's in contention for a 4th star. Currently an 88 right now at 247 with 90 being the lowest of the 4-stars.

Stampini on Jaycee Horn:
As I posted yesterday, Horn was the Defensive Back MVP.

Horn had a really good day. I suspect he finds his way to the Finals eventually.

Did they say he's enrolling on scholarship? If so, that means someone's already left.
Maybe he's just paying for half a year himself to be on campus?
I found this post on BOL from Hank South:

Could be. Haven't been alerted to any signees that are at risk, though. I know Markail Benton has been mentioned regarding having work to do, but haven't received any word on whether or not that's going to be an issue. Definitely something we're looking into.

"Insider" Battle brewing over on BOL in regards to Christian Tutt having a committable offer
None of the posts are VIP so you can see the thread without an account.
Chef is the only one I consider to be a real, legit "insider." He says he has a spot.

I'm beginning to think only the top 5 star guys have a commitable offer at this point and none of them will be commiting until much later.
