Out-of-state recruiting is becoming more important in today’s world of college football and we are seeing more schools march into enemy territory and pull top prospects away with regularity. This week, we take a look at five of the biggest talent-producing states in recruiting and what schools have done the best job raiding them since 2012. Here is a look at Florida.
Note: None of these lists include JUCO or Prep School prospects and focuses on four- and five-star prospects.

1. ALABAMA
It should come as no surprise that Alabama recruits Florida successfully, but the Tide really hit the Sunshine State hard during the class of 2017 with seven elite additions. While it should be interesting see how players such as Alex Leatherwood, Jerry Jeudy and Vandarius Cowan develop in the coming years from this class, the Tide have already produced several stars from Florida in recent years. This list includes Amari Cooper, Derrick Henry and Calvin Ridley, who are either already making their mark in the NFL or surely will in the near future. Alabama has lured 18 prospects ranked four-stars or higher since 2012 and already one, wide receiver Xavier Williams, for 2018.
Farrell’s take: Alabama has not only had a lot of success in Florida, but it has produced stars. South Florida especially has been kind to the Tide although things will get tougher with Mark Richt at Miami now. I honestly expected to find a bigger number of four- or five-stars for ‘Bama, but it recruits so well nationally that Florida is just one area of focus.

Rivals100 defensive back AJ Lytton promised that there would be some big news on Friday so as a preamble the Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise star released his top five.
Penn State, Clemson, Maryland, Florida State, and Alabama all made Lytton's top five. Florida State has long been considered his leader but Maryland is very much in the conversation. Alabama is one of Lytton's most recent offers and his relationship with coach Mike Locksley brings some level of familiarity. Clemson and Penn State have been working hard to make bigger impressions on Lytton and Clemson is trying to get him on campus next week.

-According to a report by Andrew Bone of Rivals.com, five-star recruit Teradja Mitchell has narrowed his schools down to five, and Alabama is one of them. Mitchell is a linebacker who ranks as the No. 2 player at his position and the No. 21 player overall. Ohio State, Florida State, Clemson and LSU are the other four schools still in the running for Mitchell.
Mitchell told Bone, “I visited Alabama a couple of weeks ago. Their process for the players there is something that really sticks out. They are constantly putting players in the NFL and winning a lot. I want to win at the next level. That really stuck out to me, the process and the grind.”

–Justyn Ross, the No. 1 player in Alabama, really enjoyed his visit to Clemson. Ross tweeted out that Clemson was one of the best visits he has taken so far in his recruitment. The Tigers already have the No. 1 recruit in the country in quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and that seems to be a factor in Ross’ decision. He tagged Lawrence in his tweet. Ross is a five-star wide receiver who ranks as the No. 22 player in the class. He is from Phenix City.

Tyler Shough had just returned home from a second visit to SEC country when he received news that will most certainly lead to yet another trip to those parts.
The three-star quarterback from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton visited Missouri over the weekend before landing an offer from Alabama, and it's difficult to find a prospect whose stock has soared more in recent weeks.
"What stands out the most about Alabama is how well I would fit into their offense," Shough told Scout.com. "It's a pro-style offense with some gun as well, which is what we do at my high school. Their track record of coaching stands out and I'm supposed to be talking to coach Nick Saban and the new offensive coordinator pretty soon. I'm just looking forward to getting to know them. It's very encouraging.
"Coach (Tosh) Lupoi offered me and he told me I'm the QB they're looking for in this class. Jalen Hurts was more of a dual-threat type this last season but with their new offense they're trying to get back to more pro-style. They'd want me to command the offense. They came out of nowhere, really. I wasn't talking to them before but my coach gave me their number so I called them and they offered."
With an offer from the Crimson Tide on the table, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Shough said he hopes to get out to Tuscaloosa at some point in the summer before making a college decision.
"I'm talking to several other schools as well and they've told me they're watching me real close and planning to come see me throw in the spring," Shough said. "I have to take a step back obviously and I'm open to everything."
Missouri drew the latest visit, following the trip out to South Carolina earlier in the spring, and Shough said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"I really wanted to get to know coach (Josh) Heupel and the whole coaching staff," Shough said. "He was an incredible player and has coached several NFL guys, so his track record in coaching and his experience is exceptional. I wanted to see what they had to offer and what their program is all about. Ultimately my decision will come down to where I can get an opportunity to play and how the education side of it is, and that's what we talked about at Missouri. It's going to be something I'll be looking for in schools coming up in the future."
Michigan, the program Shough grew up rooting for, also joined the offer sheet recently and a visit is in the works for the weekend of May 13. He heard the Wolverines are aiming to sign two quarterbacks in the 2018 class and said that's not a negative.
"I find that more appealing, actually, because I'm not afraid to compete," Shough said. "Having another guy in your class means that there are not a lot of quarterbacks on the roster that are older than you. It would be about going in there and competing with that other guy, so it doesn't matter to me who that would be. It's all about the school and, like I was saying, the opportunity to play."
Up next for Shough is a trip to Colorado State this coming weekend.
"I'll be there for their spring game this weekend," Shough said. "I'm really high on their coaching staff and program. I've been looking forward to taking a visit out there and it's pretty close, so it was economic for us."
Shough completed 62 percent of his pass attempts for 2,079 yards and 27 touchdowns in 12 games as a junior last season.

Tagged as a four-star prospect on Scout, 2019 running back Daniel Carter is soaring up recruiting big boards and has nearly two-dozen scholarship offers to show for it.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Carter, who attends nationally-recognized Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, racked up just over 400 yards rushing and five touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.
"I'm a downhill runner," Carter said. "I have some good speed, and I'm a combination of speed and power. I'm a little shifty as well."
Carter is hesitant to label one school as the clear front-runner, but has significant interest in a Big Ten school that is awfully successful when it comes to prying talent out of St. Thomas Aquinas.
"I don't really have a top school right now, but I'm really interested in Ohio State," Carter said. "Ohio State has a winning tradition, so I would love to be a part of that.
"I love that coach Urban Meyer came in and turned the program around, and Ohio State produces great running backs and put people in the league."
Carter also has the opportunity to stay put in South Florida after recently earning an offer from coach Mark Richt and the Miami (Fl) Hurricanes.
"In Florida, Miami is the most talked about school; everyone wants to go to Miami," Carter said. "What I like about Miami is it's close, so my family can come see all my games.
"Miami has a winning tradition and the program has completely turned around. They have produced a lot of great legends throughout the years."
Carter, who has no visits scheduled, hopes to land offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, USC and UCLA.
Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, South Carolina and Mississippi are some of the additional offers on the table for Carter.

Player Profile: Jalen Green
Evaluation Notes:
Green is a physical corner who is not afraid to come up and press the action with receivers at the line of scrimmage. Green has good size and speed. He is pretty big already physically so he can take on or match up with the big-bodied type of wide receivers. We like the confidence that he plays with and that will only grow as his experience on the field grows. He will continue to work on his technique and breaks to become quicker and play a bit cleaner with his aggressive style. His ability to run and change direction combined with size and physicality are what makes him a high level recruit.
Green will play in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Recruiting Info:
Green has a Top 13: Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, LSU, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, Texas, Tulsa, and USC .

Scout's analysis of CB AJ Lytton:
I'm hoping Locksley can reel him in.
quote:
Lytton is smooth and comfortable while reamaining low in his backpedal, he changes direction well and he breaks on the ball quickly and with purpose. He is also physical in jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage. He has the ability to turn and run with receivers down the field, and he reads the quarterback well. Lytton can play off coverage, but also has the strength and attitude to play press coverage. He has good ball skills and his length is an asset. He ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash in April at The Opening Regional, which shows he has elite speed. -- Brian Dohn
I'm hoping Locksley can reel him in.

Any chance of flipping Wray? Meyer needs to stay out of the South.
