Not sure why a top recruit is looking at Ole Miss now.

Najee Harris missed his flight this morning so not sure what his new ETA will be. The mystery man continues to bewilder.

Not sure how I feel about Gibbs.
Part of me thinks that "whatever the coaching staff wants, I'll be happy to get him". The other part of me hears what people around his area are saying about him that are beyond concerning. I tend to go with the former, but at least I'll have my "go-to" excuse ready if/when he commits to thUGa (which, in this case, actually has some truth to it, I'm guessing).
Keep in mind, Mack Wilson had a horrible reputation, too, coming out of HS. By all accounts, he's been fine since getting on campus. These kids grow up a lot of the time. Some of them just need structure and a change in environment.
Mcclain had a bad rep about several things in HS (saw him play in HS, as a matter of fact), which has proven true in the NFL, but he was fine in the structure in T-town.
Evaluating and projecting isn't easy.

Rusty said Tua was in a good mood despite being on an airplane overnight.

Tua on Najee:
quote:
“For Najee, I don’t even think I would want to talk to him about his recruiting,” Tagovailoa said. “Just because it gets so hectic. He’s just an awesome person. I wouldn’t want to bombard him with all that. I don’t think he’ll flip. I think he’ll stay with Alabama.”

SAN ANTONIO - Defensive end Jarez Parks (Sebastian River, Fla.) said Alabama still has 'an edge.'
"You could say so," Parks said at the U.S. Army All-American check-in. "I've been there a couple of times. They are very good when it comes down to communicating. They do the best when it comes down to keeping a good name. I'm on the phone with them a lot."
Parks was scheduled to announce this week, but has decided to delay his commitment.

SAN ANTONIO – This week as the U.S. Army All-American Bowl kicks off, the city of San Antonio will transform into a proving ground for No. 1s. Not only is the No. 1 ranking in the entire 2017 class up for grabs but the week's worth of scrimmages, 1-on-1s, 7-on-7s and a nationally televised game will likely dictate the No. 1 ranked player at a number of positions.
These are the rankings battles most contingent on this week's loaded Army Bowl week.

Quarterback
Unfortunately, the No. 1 ranked quarterback for 247Sports, Stanford commit Davis Mills, will miss this week of practice because injury. He'll have to sit on his senior film to combat what will be an intense battle between the top five ranked arms on 247Sports.
Clemson commit Hunter Johnson will try to regain his footing as the No. 1 arm after slipping some over the past year and turning in a poor performance in the 7on7s of The Opening Finals. Alabama commit Tua Tagovailoa has been heading in the opposite direction after spending the spring and summer looking like the most consistent quarterback in the country. After Georgia commit Jake Fromm's incredible 2016 season, he has worked himself into the discussion as well. Whoever the No. 1 quarterback is, he'll come from the pool of arms at the Army Bowl.

Running Back
This is one of the most heated races in the country and it boils down to Alabama commit Najee Harris and recent Florida State commit Cam Akers. Harris is bigger; Akers is faster. Harris rushed for more yards this year, Akers added 3,000 passing yards to his total. Everybody has a different opinion on who's the best and we're hoping to finalize ours this week.
According to 247Sports, six of the top seven running backs in the country are playing in the Army Bowl so if somebody is going to sneak in the back door to the No. 1 spot, it likely comes from this crop with USC commit Stephen Carr and Georgia commit D'Andre Swift the most likely candidates.

Wide Receiver
Michigan commit Donovan Peoples-Jones comes into the week ranked as the nation's top wide receiver. If anyone were to overtake him, his competition this week will likely come from Louisiana native Devonta Smith who we are much higher on than the industry,
Alabama commit Jerry Jeudy has been good this week at the Under Armour game and will be a contender for No. 1. Conversely, current No. 3 wide receiver Tee Higgins has not looked the part. One other darkhorse candidate for No. 1 at wide receiver could be Henry Ruggs III, a guy that had as good of a senior season as anyone in the country and who was outstanding at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.
