Here are some updates from Day One of The Opening:

Wide receivers going through drill work. It's striking how smooth Devonta Smith is in every drill. He's how you want every drill to look.

Michigan still leads for Nico Collins. He's more than likely gonna end up there. Bama still leads for WR Jeff Thomas, if he does the work off the field I think he should end up in this class.

I don't know how to use Twitter, but there are a bunch of clips of Tua, Jeudy, etc. in this thread over on 247. It's free content so if someone knows how to link just the videos instead of someone's entire Twitter account please tell me how.

This would really suck, regardless of who we end up with.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Perhaps no event at The Opening, an annual invite-only showcase held at Nike's world headquarters, demands as much attention as its star-studded seven-on-seven tournament.
Action gets underway Saturday morning and continues through Sunday afternoon, with six teams competing for a title. This tournament challenges athletes to rise up against premier peers or risk embarrassment at the expense of opponents.
Each team is equipped with two Elite 11 quarterbacks, who will split reps in an effort to chase down MVP honors. They'll operate alongside running backs, receivers and a tight end, lined up across from linebackers and defensive backs.
Every roster is loaded with talent from across the country, but considering our assessment of regional camps and past high school performances, here's how we rank these six squads.

6. Lunar Beast
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Jack Sears (No. 10 pro-style prospect) and Tommy DeVito (No. 26 pro-style prospect)
University Vibes: Ohio State Buckeyes (six commits) and Washington Huskies (two commits)
Who to Watch
Top-ranked linebacker Dylan Moses is a rare two-time participant at The Opening, and he'll patrol a positional unit that also features Anthony Hines, a Texas product who carries more than 90 scholarship offers, and Ohio State pledge Antjuan Simmons. The group is backed by a secondary swarming with future Buckeyes (cornerback Shaun Wade and safeties Isaiah Pryor and Brendon White).
Like Moses, Philadelphia running back D'Andre Swift returns to Beaverton for a second straight year and helps spearhead an offensive attack that should also showcase coveted Louisiana receiver Devonta Smith. Sears, a Southern California native, is the only uncommitted quarterback in attendance, while Devito, a Syracuse commit, was arguably the biggest surprise at the Elite 11 Finals in June.

5. Hyper Cool
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Dylan McCaffrey (No. 2 pro-style prospect) and Myles Brennan (No. 18 pro-style prospect)
University Vibes: Michigan Wolverines (five commits) and LSU Tigers (three commits)
Who to Watch
This quarterback duo should provide a consistent downfield threat, with both passers capable of spinning pretty spirals on deep attempts. Brennan set all-time Mississippi high school records for single-season passing yards and touchdown tosses in 2014, while McCaffrey is the younger brother of Stanford running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Christian McCaffrey.
They'll target a slew of standout receivers, headlined by No. 1 overall pass-catcher prospect Donovan Peoples-Jones and LSU pledge Jhamon Ausbon, while Wolverines running back commits O'Maury Samuels and A.J. Dillon are each threats to claim the top score in the Nike Football Ratings Championship. Defensively, this group is led by New Jersey linebacker Drew Singleton, Virginia safety Devon Hunter and Southern California cornerback Thomas Graham.

4. Fly Rush
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Davis Mills (No. 4 pro-style prospect) and Sam Ehlinger (No. 6 dual-threat prospect)
University Vibes: Stanford Cardinal (two commits), Texas Longhorns (two commits) and USC Trojans (two commits)
Who to Watch
Georgia linebacker Owen Pappoe makes history as the first rising sophomore to earn an invitation to The Opening, where the 15-year-old phenom will be joined on defense by 5-star Texas linebacker Baron Browning. This unit is anchored by perhaps the finest cornerback duo in America, as Grayson High School (Georgia) teammates Deangelo Gibbs and Jamyest Williams join forces.
Mills, rated No. 1 on Elite 11 coaches' boards during the finals, will have an opportunity to target fellow Stanford commit Colby Parkinson, who is considered the class' top tight end recruit. USC running back pledge Stephen Carr and Trojans receiver Joseph Lewis are both 5-star talents, joined in the offensive arsenal by rising Georgia receiver Jeremiah Holloman.

3. Mach Speed
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Hunter Johnson (No. 1 pro-style prospect) and Sean Clifford (No. 8 pro-style prospect)
University Vibes: Clemson Tigers (three commits) and Ole Miss Rebels (two commits)
Who to Watch
The aerial attack will have a major Clemson feel to it, as No. 1 overall quarterback recruit Johnson delivers darts to fellow Tigers commits Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers. This trio is augmented by Florida standout James Robinson and Ole Miss commit D.D. Bowie at receiver, while Anthony McFarland Jr. and Khalan Laborn are among the most versatile all-purpose backs in America.
Top-rated cornerback Darnay Holmes holds things down in the defensive secondary, where he joins prized Pennsylvania product Lamont Wade and intimidating IMG Academy (Florida) safety Grant Delpit. The linebacker corps is led by Alabama/Auburn target Will Ignont and Sherrod Greene, who is leaning toward South Carolina at this stage.

2. Alpha Pro
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Tate Martell (No. 1 dual-threat prospect) and Jake Fromm (No. 3 pro-style prospect)
University Vibes: Georgia Bulldogs (five commits) and Florida State Seminoles (two commits)
Who to Watch
Martell, who committed to Ohio State last month, is unbeaten as a starter at Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman High School and has also cruised past opponents in a highly competitive national seven-on-seven landscape. He'll be busy recruiting Alpha Pro receivers Trevon Grimes and Tyjon Lindsey—one of his closest friends—to the Buckeyes while targeting them throughout the tournament.
Fromm, a Georgia pledge, joins forces with Athens-bound receiver Trey Blount and primary Bulldogs running back target Toneil Carter. Los Angeles receiver Jalen Hall is the top-rated prospect at his position in the 2018 class, while this defensive secondary is stocked with sensational talent such as Patrick Surtain Jr. (No. 1 cornerback in 2018), Jeffrey Okudah (No. 1 safety in 2017) and Richard LeCounte III (No. 2 safety in 2017).

1. Vapor Speed
Elite 11 Quarterbacks: Tua Tagovailoa (No. 2 dual-threat prospect) and Chris Robison (No. 7 pro-style prospect)
University Vibes: Oklahoma Sooners (eight commits) and Alabama Crimson Tide (six commits)
Who to Watch
Alabama and Oklahoma both qualified for the College Football Playoff last season and will be well-represented on Team Vapor Speed, starting with Tagovailoa (Crimson Tide) and Robison (Sooners). Tagovailoa, a Hawaii native, was the most impressive prospect during the Elite 11 Finals, and he'll team up with fellow Tide commits in No. 1 overall running back recruit Najee Harris and freakishly athletic receiver Tyrell Shavers.
Harris, who is also a fantastic pass-catcher, teams up with former Alabama commit and fellow 5-star Cam Akers to form a lethal backfield. Florida State legacy cornerback commit Stanford Samuels joins Alabama safety pledge Xavier McKinney and four Oklahoma commits in the defensive secondary, while Norman-bound linebacker Levi Draper and Crimson Tide commits Markail Benton and VanDarius Cowan provide ample presence up front.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Diane Tagovailoa has heard the chatter about her son and how he won’t stick with his commitment when it comes time to sign his paperwork.
Will it be Southern California, the school Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa once considered his dream school, to steal him away? Or will it be Oregon? The Ducks recently offered Tagovailoa, and the comparisons between Tagovailoa and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota are endless. Both quarterbacks are from Hawaii, attended the same high school and their style of play is almost identical.
But neither school is going to flip Tagovailoa, according to Diane. He’s going to Alabama.
“I don’t believe that he’ll waver from his verbal commitment to Alabama because he’s prayed hard on it,” Diane told SEC Country at The Opening, the premier summer camp in the nation, held at Nike’s world headquarters. “Once he makes up his mind, he’s a man of his word. Once he makes up his mind, that’s what he’s going with.”
If there’s one thing you need to know about Tagovailoa it’s that his faith is very important to him. Honesty and loyalty aren’t just two words to Tagovailoa. He lives by their meaning.
So why continue taking visits elsewhere if he’s 100 percent solid with Alabama? Being from Honolulu, he doesn’t get the experience to just freely travel to places like many other recruits, who live in the continental United States, do who on a weekly basis.
As of now, Tagovailoa will take official visits to Alabama and Southern California. He plans on taking all five if time permits. Diane said fans should not worry about her son visiting other schools.
“We have never gone through this experience before,” Diane said. “He wants to make the most of it. It’s a blessing to be given these options and opportunities to go different places. That’s mainly the reason why he wants to take these official visits.”
He has visited Southern California plenty of times in the past, so there’s not much else he can see on the Trojans’ campus. But the experience of traveling together as a family is what’s most enticing about these trips.
“It’s basically just the experience of being together,” Diane said. “He’s obviously been there on unofficial visits, but he wants to see what it’s like on an official visit. USC is a school that he’s grown up to like. He’s watched a lot of their games when he was younger. He wants to get the experience.”
The Tagovailoas talk with Nick Saban, offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi on a weekly basis. They are fully aware that Tagovailoa will continue taking trips to other schools, but are they concerned about that?
“They are not concerned with him taking visits. There’s no concern at all,” Diane said. “When we talk to them, they always ask how the family is doing. We talk about family and church a lot with them.”
The only schools actively recruiting Tagovailoa are Alabama and Southern California. Despite the obvious connection to Oregon, as stated above, he said the Ducks have not contacted him since he received an offer a few weeks ago.
As for where Tagovailoa stands with his commitment to Alabama, there’s nothing that comes to mind when thinking about what could possibly change his mind on not playing for the Crimson Tide.
“I’m not too sure. I don’t know. It’s kind of hard (to think about),” he said.

Georgia quarterback commit Jake Fromm wasn’t asked, “What impresses you about Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa?” That’s why what he had to say about the Crimson Tide’s future quarterback should excite Alabama fans.
Fromm, who was committed to Alabama until March, was asked by DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell a few weeks ago which quarterback impressed him the most out of the 24 signal callers who competed in the Elite 11 Finals competition in June.
“I love Tua. I love him. He’s a complete guy,” Fromm said. “Yes, he can throw a football really well, and there are a lot of those guys out there, but Tua is just a great guy. He called everybody brother here.”
The praise for Tagovailoa didn’t stop there. Super Bowl-winning QB Trent Dilfer, who is one of the coaches for the Elite 11 competition, also praised Tagovailoa’s game. Out of all the years Dilfer has participated in the Elite 11 competition, Tagovailoa holds the title in an important area.
“I have never seen a kid, since I’ve been doing this, change more in two weeks,” Dilfer said at the time.
So what did Tagovailoa think of his performance at the Elite 11 Finals? Well, here’s what he had to say of his performance, according to Fromm.
“When we were going through the 7-on-7 competition, he, by far, had the best day,” Fromm said. “He would’ve gone 15-for-15 if it had not been for one or two drops. Someone asked him how he did, and Tua, being the humble guy he is, said “Oh, I just did all right.” Man, he’s a great Christian guy. I just love Tua.”
Tagovailoa and Fromm will begin competition in the Elite 11 event at The Opening on Wednesday, which features more than 160 of the top prospects in the nation. Dilfer thinks Tagovailoa has a chance to be the big winner of the week.
“He has a legitimate chance to be the MVP of the Elite 11,” Dilfer said.
Eleven out of the past 13 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks have all been Elite 11 MVPs.

Chef on BOL said he doesn't expect Nico Collins to be in this class right now.

Honestly, I don't think anyone who follows Alabama recruiting closely does. Now the mouth breathers who just casually follow will probably be up in arms over him going to Michigan or wherever, but I can only think of one Alabama fan (Cap; who is not a mouth breather
) who would be upset if we didn't get him and that's primarily due to him being an in-state kid, not due to his talent.
