You think we completely strike out in Mississppi?
Nigel Knott? Raekwon Davis? Anybody?
God in Heaven knows that wasn't on purpose, I apologize.

You're on your own. I will just observe the landmassing from the stands this time. I'm not buying it until he signs an LOI to the University of Alabama and only UA.
Never again.

quote:It will be easy. "Hey I just won my 4th national title at Bama and I'd like to win 2 more at least. Every class I have had at Bama has won at least 1 title. I changed my defense and I rotate in a lot of guys so now when you go first round you don't have the wear and tear, but get the same amount of exposure. We have fun, but we work really, really hard. Are you in?"
Saban and staff are going to have to kill it after the natty game. Our class is unstable at this point it seems, need to lock some guys down and land some big fish to close it out. So far, least impressed I've been with a class at this point in a recruiting cycle since 2007. Pruitt needs to earn his pay the next few weeks...

We got a few CBs for Shyheim Carter.
Dontavious Jackson has gotten a few to FSU.
Two of the CBs for Shyheim Carter came from Lucky and one of the Georgia writers.
Jackson's came from Taylor Hamm (A&M) and Newberg (FSU).
Point being these CBs could have some legs to them.

Nigel Knott depends on Shy Carter. If we get Carter, OM will stop it nothing to get Knott. (And yes, I know OM isn't one of his current favorites.)
Raekwon Davis is an interesting case. I think we may have to fight off Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for him, as there are a lot of rumors about him not qualifying.

Some great news on an otherwise crappy day:
quote:
-- We caught up with a scout back on Monday that told us he believed 2017 Bama quarterback commit Jake Fromm was hands down the best quarterback in the class. On Thursday, we caught up with a source close to Fromm’s recruitment that adamantly told us Fromm would stick with Alabama, even with the push Georgia was currently making.

Well at least we have that to look forward to in three years.

The 2019 RB we offered out of Miami yesterday, James Cook, is the little brother of Dalvin Cook.
He gone.
He gone.

Ranking the classes by most number of three stars:
2007: 14
2010: 10 TITLE
2008: 10
2009: 9
2013: 8 TITLE
2012: 7 TITLE
2011: 5
2014: 4
2015: 3
It seems the years that we go home with the title, we take more three stars. I assume that is due to coaches focusing more on game prep than recruiting.
Last year we had a consolation prize for losing to tOSU with that monstrous recruiting class. This year is all or nothing for the title, as I think we will just barely be in the top five for recruiting classes unless we pull a rabbit out of our asses.
I'd much rather win a title on the field than a recruiting title this year. We are well on our way to our best class ever in 2017 so we can afford to finish around #3 in this class.

If the rumors are true about Ed Orgeron to Mississippi State as their next DC, I could definitely see Davis flipping to State.
He likes them anyway and loves Orgeron. I hope it doesn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little concerned about this class.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Montgomery (Ala.) Edgewood Academy linebacker Khalid Young is one of the top defenders in the southeast for the class of 2018. He checked in on Thursday at the U.S. Army Combine with offers from Vanderbilt, South Alabama and Mississippi State.
"I'm fired up about all of them," Young said. "I never hear from Mississippi State though."
At Vanderbilt, there is a connection in place. Young's former teammate and cousin is freshman running back Josh Crawford. Young says Crawford loves it at Vanderbilt. Another cousin is former Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner and the Crimson Tide are another school that Young is extremely interested in.
"I talk to them a little bit," he said of Alabama. "I've been up there three times to the MTSU game, Arkansas and the LSU game with all their top prospects."
Young felt that Kirby Smart was close to offering at Alabama before leaving for Georgia.
"I was one of his top 2018 prospects," he said.
At 6-1, 215 pounds, Young arrived in San Antonio with outstanding length. His 111 tackles and 23 tackles for loss helped his team to a state championship game where he was the defensive player of the game.

You're not going to strike out on Knott unless State goes Chris Jones on him. I think Davis was going to flip until Diaz happened.

I think this will probably be our lowest ranked class since 2007 unless we start pulling recruits out of nowhere.
We had a very strong class last year, and hopefully we can put together another great class in 2017 to minimize the potential effects of this class.
And who knows? Maybe some of the three stars will turn out to be better than their ranking?
