Oh, you think recruiting stars don't matter?

You must have missed the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game.

The Nos. 1 and 10 overall players in the 2016 class, per 247Sports' composite ratings, balled out and won co-MVP honors. Both are defensive tackles, and both looked like legitimate men among boys.

Injuries forced some of the other brightest stars to miss the game, but 10 of the top 30 prospects still played.

Here is a grade on how they performed, based on stats (via Blog and Tackle) and subjective observation.

6. OLB Lyndell Wilson

Overall Rank: 13 OLB Rank: 1

Lyndell "Mack" Wilson played a role in Team Highlight's dominant defensive showing.

It's just hard to grade how big that role actually was.

The numbers show just one tackle, and that tackle came on special teams, not defense. However, with the way Team Highlight's line owned the trenches, tackles for outside linebackers were hard to come by.

"They didn't let us make any plays," Wilson joked about Team Highlight's front four, per John Garcia Jr. of Scout.com.

Consider this grade a safe "incomplete."

5. ILB Ben Davis

Overall Rank: 12 ILB Rank: 1

Although he didn't post huge numbers (three tackles, one for loss), Ben Davis showed why he's the nation's top linebacker.

He started on a high note with a four-yard tackle for loss on Team Armour's first offensive play. He and fellow 5-star recruit Levonta Taylor, who appears later on this list, planted future Michigan running back Kareem Walker in the backfield, setting the tone for a dominant afternoon.

He also played well in space, flashing excellent lateral quickness for a player with NFL size (6'3", 240 lbs). SB Nation's Bud Elliott was impressed with the performance, calling Davis "an NFL lock if he stays healthy."

The 2016 Under Armour All-America Game has come to a conclusion, and Team Highlight shut out Team Armour 27-0 at the Citrus Bowl on Saturday. The game proved the age-old adage once again: Defense wins championships.

Team Highlight walked away with the game trophy, but several colleges collected some major victories of their own. On the flip side, a few schools that hoped for some good news with players committing Saturday were disappointed.

The all-star game, now in its ninth season, had its winners and losers. Here are some of each.

Loser: Alabama

When Calvin Ridley signed with Alabama's 2015 class, Crimson Tide fans looking into the future were anticipating his younger brother, Cavin Ridley, to follow suit when it was his time. Instead, the 4-star 2016 prospect—after the game and not during a scheduled, televised spot—announced he was blazing his own path Saturday.

According to Justin Wagner of TDAlabama, Cavin committed to South Carolina over Alabama and a host of other programs. The commitment gave the Gamecocks their 19th overall pledge and their highest-ranked receiver pledge.

Cavin's decision means no Ridley brothers reunion in Tuscaloosa. It also means Alabama is still looking to land a couple of receiver pledges. T.J. Simmons, a 3-star pledge, is Alabama's lone natural receiver commitment. Trevon Diggs, who could end up playing receiver, is listed as the nation's No. 6 athlete.

The Under Armour All-America Game is one of the multiple marquee events that provide a close to impressive high school football careers. Along with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, this matchup annually showcases America's most talented senior players who are preparing for a leap to FBS competition in 2016.

These events offer one final glimpse of prospects before they head to the college campus of their choice, where some will emerge as instant stars and others will wait a year or more to contribute. All-American game action and the practices that precede kickoff represent the final stage of a lengthy assessment process.

While many marquee recruits remain uncommitted just weeks away from national signing day, coaching staffs have already filled the majority of scholarship slots in this cycle. Here's how we rank the country's top 25 recruiting classes in the aftermath of a talent-laden Under Armour All-America Game, giving a nod to well-balanced value over sheer volume.

5. Alabama

Total Commitments: 17 (one 5-star; 10 4-stars)

Best of the Bunch

SEC defenses can expect to contend with a powerful Alabama ground attack for years to come. North Carolina running back B.J. Emmons, who rushed for 2,417 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2015, joins a stockpile of young talent in the Crimson Tide backfield.

Like other Alabama rushers, he'll have a group of blue-chip offensive linemen looking out for his best interests. California tackle Jonah Williams is a 5-star recruit, while Deonte Brown and Chris Owens are considered top-10 guards in this cycle.

Jalen Hurts should also appreciate the presence of those big men. The 4-star Texas quarterback, rated No. 5 nationally among dual-threat talents, racked up significant yardage through the air (4,916) and on the ground (2,344) as a high school upperclassman en route to 91 total touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide defense is set to welcome its usual procession of playmakers, headlined by massive tackles Kendell Jones and Raekwon Davis and 4-star Virginia linebacker Jaquan Yulee. Maryland product Trevon Diggs, the younger brother of impressive Minnesota Vikings rookie Stefon Diggs, could make a major impact in Alabama's secondary if he doesn't remain at wide receiver.

Head coach Nick Saban seeks to extend his program's unprecedented streak of top-rated recruiting classes to six straight cycles on signing day.

Six teams received a special gift shortly after the New Year’s ball dropped in Times Square. They had one more reason to raise a glass of champagne and toast to this guy that is still considering their program.

Mecole Hardman, Jr., a five-star athlete from Elbert County High School (Bowman, Ga.), tweeted that Alabama, UGA, Tennessee, Michigan, Florida and Clemson are in his top six. He told SEC Country why each school was in the mix.

On Alabama: “They are a top program with a good coaching staff. The campus is great and I love the football atmosphere. They also have coach (Nick) Saban.”

On Clemson: “I love coach (Dabo) Swinney and love what he is doing at Clemson. They have a great campus and it is small, which is good, and it’s really close to home as well.”

On Georgia: “It’s my hometown. They have great coaches and a great environment. With coach (Kirby) Smart coming in, I think he can take it to a new height.”

On Florida: “I love the coaching staff, plus they are losing some key defensive backs, so I think I can come play right away.”

On Michigan: “I love everything about them. They have a lot of NFL experience on the staff. They’re a great football school with a great environment.”

On Tennessee: “They have been there from the beginning, and I love all the coaches. The campus life is also great. Coach Butch (Jones) is taking them to the top.”

The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder has taken official visits to Miami and Michigan thus far. Even though the Horned Frogs are not in his top six, he will take an official visit to TCU on Jan. 22. The other two visits remain unknown, he says.

Most in the recruiting industry feel like UGA and Alabama have the best chance to land the nation’s No. 1 athlete when he decides to commit. He has visited UGA numerous times and told DawgNation that this past trip to Athens, which was his first under new head coach Kirby Smart, was his best. He has also said that Alabama would be the best program from a defensive-scheme standpoint for him. It also needs to be noted that the Crimson Tide hired Jeremy Pruitt to be their defensive coordinator. Before UGA decided to part ways with Pruitt, Hardman pretty much made a public plea for the team to keep him.

Hardman is expected to play cornerback, wide receiver and kick returner/punt returner at the next level. College football fans can and should expect him to be something similar like USC’s Adoree Jackson, who the Trojans make sure is on the field as much as he possibly can be.

The nation’s top athlete will announce his commitment on National Signing Day, which falls on Feb. 3, 2016.

lose out on a four star and take in a three star.
AJ Brown will not sign with Bama, sorry people. Actually do not look for any Mississippi kid to sign with Bama in this class. Knott is going to Oregon. The DL from Miss that is committed isn't going to qualify.
This class will break Bama 8 year streak of top 5 classes.

Yep. Obvious alter is obvious. No true Bama fan can be this depressed after a championship berth. This guy is basically suicidal over a subpar recruiting class.

Calling it subpar is an insult. It's top 5 with only 18 commits. We have room for 10 more guys roughly. Ben Davis, Mack Wilson, and Demetris Robertson are 3 5 stars... That would put us with 3 more 5 stars than anyone and the number 1 class. Just those 3. That's not including Shyheim Carter, Nigel Knott, AJ Brown, Dontavious Jackson, or Terrell Hall. There's 8 strong possibilities. Then there is Issac Nauta and Mecole Hardman who may go to UGA but we have a strong shot. Obvious alters are obvious.

Regardless...CNS and staff have always finished strong in recruiting AND usually land a player or 3 that no one thought Bama could sign.

Wait and see how NSD plays out.

Just some food for thought for those suffering with the negabammer syndrome.
