Running Back
Pennamon and Taylor were both really solid today and kind of bring a bit of lightning and thunder to this offense. Pennamon is no doubt a downhill runner who hits the hole hard, while Taylor is more shifty and can cut on a dime to change his path and avoid tacklers.

***Lakeland (Fla.) 2017 wide receiver James Robinson named Clemson his leader on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect is one of the Gators top wide receiver targets in the next cycle. Robinson has been to Gainesville plenty, plans to see the campus several more times in the future. Alabama is another school in the mix early for the Sunshine State product.

***Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips 2017 offensive tackle Calvin Ashley is committed to Auburn currently, but he notes that Alabama, Florida, Florida State, and Ole Miss are continue to recruit him hard. In fact, Ashley plans to visit Alabama’s campus on an unofficial visit in a couple weeks. Ashley has positive things to say about the Gators as Mike Summers is trying to flip him from the Tigers. He added that he will take all of his official visits next fall.

***The nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2017 class, Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab running back/linebacker Dylan Moses, was previously committed to LSU. He has since backed off that pledge and has a top five that includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, UCLA and Texas. Alabama is the currently leader, but most feel LSU is still in the mix regardless of his recent top five. Moses plans to visit the Gators this spring as well.

***Brooklyn (N.Y.) Poly Prep 2017 offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson named Michigan his early leader on Thursday. Florida has offered the 6-foot-6, 325-pound prospect and made one of his early top five lists. Wilson stated he recently spoke with Florida running back coach Tim Skipper.
shite.

Players begin arriving in Texas for the 16th annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Sunday in preparation for the game on Jan. 9.

• Quick hitters on the rest of the uncommitted prospects playing in the Army Bowl.
quote:
- Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee are battling for the five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown, with the Bulldogs holding all 28 247Sports Crystal Ball forecasts for the Buford (Ga.) Lanier standout.
- When Torrance (Calif.) North five-star linebacker Mique Juarez decommitted from USC everyone penciled him in with UCLA. However Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Washington are among those trying to change Juarez’s mind. It wouldn’t be surprising if Juarez decided to announce a decision at the Army Bowl.
- Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee are duking it out for five-star athlete Mecole Hardman Jr. with the Bulldogs winning on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for the Elberton (Ga.) Elbert County star.
-Does five-star athlete Demetris Robertson end up at an SEC power like Alabama or Georgia or one of the academic-football powers in Notre Dame or Stanford. The Savannah (Ga.) Chrisitan Prep talent isn't expected to decide until late in the process.
- Oklahoma owns all 21 247Sports Crystal Ball forecasts for five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly with Notre Dame the likely top challenger for the Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West blue-chipper. Oregon is also in play.
- Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee make up the top four for Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County Top50 defensive end Jeffery Simmons.
- USC remains the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite to ultimately land Top50 athlete Jack Jones out of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. Others under consideration include Texas A&M, Arizona State and UCLA.
- Concord (Calif.) De La Salle athlete Devin Asiasi is one of the more intriguing recruiting battles down the stretch with UCLA and Washington being two he’s strongly considering.
- Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State are among those still in play for Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge Top100 safety Nigel Warrior, with the Vols holding a slim 247Sports Crystal Ball advantage over Alabama and Georgia.
- It ultimately will be Michigan or Washington for Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola Top100 cornerback David Long, who recently decommitted from Stanford. Could go either way heading into the final month.
- Florida has emerged as the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage Top100 defensive end Brian Buns down the stretch. Georgia was at one time the trendy pick and remains very much in play as does Florida State.
- Penn State is trending with Saint Clairsville (Ohio) High Top100 linebacker Brendan Ferns who is also strongly considering West Virginia, where his older brother plays just a short drive away from home and Notre Dame.
-Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro Top100 cornerback Byron Murphy took official visits to Arizona State, Texas A&M, USC and Washington. He is the top-rated recruit in Arizona.
- Warner Robins (Ga.) High Top247 athlete Marquez Callaway has January officials scheduled with Tennessee, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
- Four schools look to have the best shot in landing Top100 athlete Jordan Fuller out of Old Tappan (N.J.) Northern Valley Regional in Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State. Fuller has already taken his official to South Bend with the other three likely to get trips in January. A fifth program will also get an official before Signing Day.
- Oklahoma is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for the No. 1 recruit in the state in Oklahoma City John Marshall Top247 offensive tackle Tramonda Moore with Oklahoma State, Alabama and UCLA a few others he’s strongly considering.
- Former Miami Top247 receiver commit Ahmmon Richards is still considering the Hurricanes along with Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. The Tigers got an official in December with the other three slated for January.
- Clemson is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite over South Carolina for North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester Top247 offensive guard John Simpson.
- Nebraska and Iowa look like the top contenders for Top247 offensive tackle Matt Farniok out of Sioux Falls (S.D.) Washington, with Michigan State and Florida State rounding out his top four. Only the Huskers have gotten an official visit thus far.
- Katy (Texas) High four-star running back Kyle Porter has interest in Arkansas, Oregon, TCU, Texas and Wisconsin heading into the Army Bowl.
- Pompano Beach (Fla.) Coconut Creek cornerback Malek Young’s January official visits are set for Miami, Louisville and Clemson, with Auburn and Ohio State two others he’s high on.

It doesn't look like Cavin Ridley is announcing today, at least not according to the story on 247 regarding the commitment announcements.

With little time before signing day and several glaring needs, which five prospects should the Maryland staff focus its attention on? We break it down here...
quote:
2. St. John’s (D.C.) defensive end Terrell Hall: a one-time longshot, several perennial powerhouse programs always held an edge in Hall’s recruitment. When the Terps hired long-time local coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, however, Maryland reemerged as a possibility. Hall recently listed Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss and Maryland as the four schools he’s focusing on. With the desperate need for talent along the defensive line for Maryland, which already lost top linemen Yannick Ngakoue and Quinton Jefferson this offseason, Hall is aware of the need for his services. Overcoming Alabama, let alone Florida, is going to be a difficult task, but Maryland will pursue him as hard as any player in the class.

quote:
5. Avalon (Md.) wide receiver Trevon Diggs: Maryland is still pushing for the Maryland legacy and Alabama commitment, but unless something happens with the Tide, it appears Maryland might be facing an uphill battle. That doesn’t mean that the staff will stop pushing, as the Terps hold the momentum in this recruitment after having him on campus a few times before the dead period. The staff is prioritizing Diggs for two main reasons: potential and pure skill. While he isn't the same player as his older brother, Stefon, the four-star’s soft hands and elusive speed make him a potential playmaker in Bell's new offense. Under Durkin, the staff is primarily looking at Diggs at receiver -- where Trevon wants to play -- and has his former Alabama recruiting coordinator Abdul-Rahim chasing. Despite nothing set yet, keep an eye on whether he finalizes his official visit plans in January. If so, all bets might be off.

Great work as usual on the MEGATHREAD TS
I might not read all of it but it's nice to have it condensed to one place.

I am truly happy and amazed that it only took Saban 2 years to make the right tweaks. Bringing back Bo Davis helped a lot and bringing in coaches like Tosh and Tucker has improved us tremendously. Looking at the defense now and moving forward with how we will play makes me wonder about guys we coveted in the past and how the would fit in. Trey Depriest is one that comes to mind for me. I don't think Trey would fit in with what we do now, he is too slow. He would have had to lose a lot of weight and get faster to even see a small amount of pt. I think Landon would have been highly coveted still, but he would have had to play MLB and work on his speed. So I guess now we will only recruit versatile dbs and LBS like SDH, Foster and Ragland. We will still get guys like Robinson and Reed, but Cochran will sculpt them for quickness and power.

Deonte Brown needs to lose a lot of weight.

Shyheim Carter isn't playing today. I just saw him in street clothes on the sideline.

Not sure if posted but I just saw where Emmons is pissed that other schools are calling. He referenced muschamp and Freeze as ones who won't leave him alone. If say he's solid. Does it look like he will make it grade wise fine? I haven't heard anything on that topic lately
