Wayne Davis' quotes:
quote:
“As far as the coaches that are involved in his recruitment, I think he has really matured in listening to the different coaches. As far as where he’s going to be ending up going, that’ll be a signing day decision. Like I’ve said in the past, I haven’t shied away from the fact that I’m definitely pushing him towards Bama, but he’s going to go with his own heart.”
quote:
“Oh man, that’s exactly what I’ve imagined and what I have dreamed about,” Davis said. “It would be an honor, of course, a lot of people would disagree with that because he’d be somewhat living in the shadow. But I’ll tell you, as far as football and basketball, Ben is the better athlete than I am. He’s shattered all my records in high school. It’s unbelievable the accomplishments he’s achieved in making that comparison to his dad. That’s one thing that a lot of people don’t realize, Ben has shattered all my dunking records and all that stuff. He’s bigger than I am, he’s taller than I was, he has more range. I look forward to seeing him have a great career. As far as him following in my footsteps, what father wouldn’t appreciate that? That’s the way I look at it. He’s a good young man and we look forward to being in somebody’s stadium over the course of the next three or four years.”

The 2015-16 College Football Playoff field was announced Sunday and the semifinal matchups will go down on New Year's Eve.
The College Football Playoff will be televised on ESPN and on Tuesday, the network released its complete bowl schedule, which included a look at the announce crews for each of the games.
In the Capital One Orange Bowl, No. 1 Clemson will take on No. 4 Oklahoma at 4 p.m. ET, will Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe on the call.
Then in the nightcap at 8 p.m. ET, No. 2 Alabama will meet No. 3 Michigan State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, with Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Heather Cox in the broadcast booth.
ESPN will employ a four-person booth of Fowler, Herbstreit, Cox and Tom Rinaldi for the National Championship, which will take place from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale (Ariz.) on Jan. 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
I wish we were getting Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge.

Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith wins Butkus Award. Have to wonder if Alabama's defense might get shut out of defensive player awards
I actually think our defensive linemen playing out of their minds over the last 6 games hurt Ragland here. He was hands down the best defensive player in the country the first half of the season then his tackle numbers decreased because Robinson, Reed and Williams started killing people.

I kind of like the idea of a mad Reggie Ragland playing Michigan St.

Edwardsville (Ill.) High 2017 five-star defensive end A.J. Epenesa says Alabama has offered.
247Sports ranks Epenesa as the nation's No. 2 prospect regardless of position and the No. 1 strongside defensive end in the land.
Epenesa has taken visits to Michigan, Notre Dame, Missouri, Oklahoma along with several trips to Iowa where his father played.
Alabama is an opportunity the U.S. Army All American is excited about.
"It's pretty big," Epenesa said. .I enjoyed talking to the coach and was happy they offered."
Epenesa is also a standout basketball player and elite discus thrower.
Epenesa will make many more visits before he is even close to deciding. Tuscaloosa is a place he'd like to get to and learn more.
"They are a great football team and they just won their conference, I don't know too much but they are well known for success."
DE AJ Epenesa
His HUDL highlights are private.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Day one of practices at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game pitted several of the game's top prospects against each other and produced some intrigue. Below are notes on the prospects that helped and hurt their respective stock the most.
quote:
STOCK UP
DL Raekwon Davis
Meridian, Miss.
Recruiting Wrap: Davis is committed to Alabama but is taking a look around until National Signing Day. He'll visit Ole Miss and others down the stretch.
Performance: Davis has one of the most imposing frames of any player on either roster. He was disruptive during 11-on-11 work and showcased the kind of power capable of making a defensive lineman special. Once Davis polishes his technique and adds additional pass rush moves, he will develop into a certified force up front. Davis' long arms and upper-body strength make him hard for any high school prospect to handle in a one-on-one situation.

quote:
DL Quinnen Williams
Birmingham (Ala.) Wenonah
Recruiting Wrap: Williams is committed to Alabama and expected to sign with the Tide on National Signing Day.
Performance: Williams has an impressive build and looks to carry very little bad weight. His wide frame will allow him to add even more muscle than he already carried. On Tuesday, he was quick off the ball and showed a devastating first step for a prospect of his size. Williams, who looks and moves much better than his current three-star ranking, proved plenty on the first day of practice.

quote:
WR A.J. Brown
Starkville, Miss.
Recruiting Wrap: Brown is thought to be high on Mississippi State. Alabama, Auburn and others remain in the mix.
Performance: Brown made one of the day's most impressive catches and beat Rivals100 defensive back Nigel Knott on a couple of occasions. Brown is explosive and boasts strong hands. He isn't the tallest wide receiver in the country but he might be as well-rounded as anyone.

STOCK DOWN
WR Velus Jones
Saraland, Ala.
Recruiting Wrap: Jones is committed to USC but is likely to break that pledge before National Signing Day. Michigan and Oklahoma are heavily in the mix.
Performance: Jones did some things well on Tuesday and caught a couple deep balls. Problem was he also dropped a number of passes that hit him in the hands or on the pads. It's not as though Jones ruined his stock on Tuesday, but the inconsistency was striking.

The high school season is all but wrapped up across the country so there is no better time than to update the rankings.
On Monday, the Rivals100 Presented by Under Armour was released with a new No. 1 in Paramus (N.J.) Paramus Catholic five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary grabbing the top spot. He was followed by defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and quarterback Shea Patterson, both former No. 1s in the 2016 class. Offensive tackle Gregory Little and outside linebacker Mique Juarez rounded out the top five.
Here are the biggest swings both up and down in the Rivals250 as the ever-important all-star season looms in the next few weeks.

WR A.J. Brown
Starkville, Miss.
NEW RANK PREV. RANK DIFFERENCE
138 NR NA
"Brown has quickness and explosiveness that his rare for a player of his size. There's a reason most of the SEC is involved in his recruitment. He runs polished routes and is smooth out of his breaks. While he may not be a track star when it comes to top speed, he gets off the line as quickly as anyone can expect. His change of pace is devastating. Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are all in play for Brown, who may wait until Signing Day to make a decision." -- Rivals.com Southeast Recruiting Analyst Rob Cassidy

S Nigel Warrior
Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake
NEW RANK PREV. RANK DIFFERENCE
123 53 -70
"Warrior is one of the fastest safety prospects in the class but at 5-foot-11 he may be a little undersized for the position. He has the raw tools to potentially transition to corner, but will need time to develop if that's the move he ends up making in college. Warrior is looking at several schools, including Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State." -- Wommack

College football's final four is set. Clemson took the top seed, followed by SEC champion Alabama, Big Ten champion Michigan State and Big 12 champion Oklahoma. The four will compete to be crowned national champion, with Clemson playing Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl and Alabama facing Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl. Before the action kicks off on the field on New Year's Eve, it's time to break down the rosters.

2 Alabama
Top-ranked player: DE Da'Shawn Hand. Hand was ranked the No. 1 overall player in the 2014 recruiting class. He chose the Crimson Tide over Michigan and Florida. He recorded seven tackles and two sacks as a true freshman, and he has recorded 12 tackles and three sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss during the 2015 regulars season.
Five-stars: These five-stars do not just claim a roster spot. These guys are getting after it. Freshmen Calvin Ridley and Minkah Fitzpatrick have been two of the top freshmen in the country. Cameron Robinson starts at left tackle and Rueben Foster is second on the team in tackles (60) and recorded seven tackles for loss. Jonathan Allen leads the team in sacks (10) and tackles for loss (12.5). A'Shawn Robinson and Marlon Humphrey have been very active on the defensive side, and O.J. Howard has recorded 335 yards on 30 receptions from his tight end position.
Highest-ranked position group: Defensive Backs. Alabama is a team loaded at several positions but the Crimson Tide secondary is the most loaded of the loaded. The group includes three former five-star prospects in Humphrey, Fitzpatrick and Tony Brown. Eddie Jackson is the only starter who ranked below the 5.9 four-star ranking as a recruit. Jackson was ranked a 5.7 three-star at wide receiver.
Top states represented on the roster: No. 1 Alabama - 3,359, No. 2 Louisiana - 1,256, No. 3 Georgia - 1,120
Class of 2016 recruiting ranking: No. 4 overall, 1,963 recruiting points, 3.61 average star ranking
Top target: Allen (Texas) offensive lineman Gregory Little. Little delayed his decision shortly before his planned November announcement. The Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels were the two most popular predictions at the time.
