“I want to give them a chance to recruit me and because of Coach Smart,” Wilson told SEC Country. “We have a great relationship, and with him being the head coach, I would like to see how it goes.”
Now that Smart is on-board with UGA, there have been a lot of reports stating that UGA is now a “front-runner” in the 5-star’s recruiting process, but would he say that is accurate?
“No, sir. I will give them a chance to recruit me, but with Kirby Smart being the head coach, they have a good chance,” Wilson said.
When asked to clarify what he meant by “they have a good chance,” Wilson said UGA has a good chance of landing his commitment, just like the other schools at the top of his list.
Wilson was supposed to announce his commitment on Dec. 4 but postponed it on Tuesday morning because of the possible coaching changes.
He maintains that Florida is still his leader and Alabama is a close No. 2. Although that may be the case, it’s clear Wilson will give the Bulldogs a serious look in the coming months.

I expect a pretty big rise in the @Rivals rankings for #Alabama commitment and 2017 QB @FrommJake.

Yeah I'm calling bullshite. Maybe if he proved himself at another gig, we might try to snatch him away, but there is no reason to think that we will go the coordinator route when Saban retires.
Agreed 100%. I'm hoping that if Saban taught the University one thing it's: go out and get the guy with the best proven track record as a cfb head coach that will come, no matter their connection to the university or prior coach.

If we had learned this lesson sooner, we would have had Bobby Bowden in his prime for the 90s.

I'm assuming the prediction comes on the heels of Richt being hired in Miami and not Cristobal.

Meridian (Miss.) defensive tackle and Alabama commit Raekwon Davis received his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey Thursday during a ceremony at his high school.
Receiving an invite to the Army Bowl is a testament to a student athlete’s hard work and dedication to the game. Davis talked with BamaOnline about what being a part of the event means to him.
“It’s a blessing,” Davis said. “It’s an honor to be playing in that game and I’m thankful to be playing in that game.”
The Army Bowl has never been short on talent. In fact, 299 Army-All Americans have gone on to be drafted to the NFL. Davis is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and going up against the competition.
“I have people I want to play with like Jeffery Simmons and Erick Fowler,” Davis said. “I’m looking forward to learning more and facing the competition and working more on my technique.”
Davis, who’s been committed to the Tide since August of 2014, has stayed relatively quiet throughout his recruitment. The 6-foot-7, 315-pound prospect, has taken visits to other programs, all the while sticking to his original commitment.
With defensive coordinator Kirby Smart headed to Georgia, Davis updated his commitment status.
“I’m still open, but I’m still committed to Alabama,” David said. “At this point I’m still trying to find out where I want to spend my next three or four years at and where I want to get my degree at. That’s about it.”
As far as official visits, Davis’ schedule is still fairly up in the air.
“I haven’t set up where I want my officials to be at yet or anything like that,” Davis said.
Davis is rated the No. 13 defensive tackle and the No. 83 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite, an industry-generated average.
You can catch the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 9 on NBC at 12 p.m. CT.

According to this report from AL.com, current defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is unlikely to return for a second season at Auburn. Citing sources within the Tigers' football program, Muschamp is expected to leave to be the head coach at South Carolina, follow Kirby Smart to Georgia as his defensive coordinator or fill Smart's old position as Alabama's defensive coordinator.

Not really Alabama recruiting related (even though we have offered him), but 5-star WR Nate Craig-Myers has gotten two CBs to North Carolina in the last 24 hours.

So take this with a huge grain of salt, but some "insider" (I truly don't think this guy has every tried to be one in the past) over on BOL is claiming we will give a look at Coffeyville Community College Offensive Coordinator, and former Mississippi State WR coach, Angelo Mirando for our OC position should Kiffin leave.

Here's everything he posted about Mirando:
I wonder what that's all about?
He didn't actually provide a link.

Some talk here in Kansas with Angelo Mirandi and Bama. He is Offense Coord for Coffeville Community College
quote:
This was the kid that Miss Stage hung out to dry and take the fall several years ago. Word from my buddy who was there today and talking to other coaches was he had a nice visit from Bama. Word is his offense is impressive and that he will be a head coach one day. Just spreading the word brothers. Thought y'all would like to know
quote:
In Angelo's first year at Coffeyville in 2014, the Ravens offense led the Jayhawk Conference in scoring with 578 points (48.2 ppg). The Ravens were second in the league in yards gained per game and were second in both rushing and passing yards.
quote:
His head coach and D coordinator give him incredible praise. Said it is a nightmare to defend. Said in their words, this kid is special and with the ability to work under Saban he could be a head coach by 40. They said he got screwed by MSU and had to leave D 1 coaching for a few years. That penalty is over.
I wonder what that's all about?
quote:
Here is a link. It is fast paced. They ran 90+ plays in this game. Possessed the ball for 31 minutes. Play every 19.5 seconds
He didn't actually provide a link.

From a true "insider" on BOL regarding our next DC:
quote:
Muschamp. ASSUMING he doesn't get USCe gig. Not concrete, but is the leader in the clubhouse. Things change constantly, but this is the most confident I've been.

He got slapped with a 1 year show cause penalty for not reporting to the NCAA that one of his players received an impermissible benefit.

Former assistant coach Angelo Mirando, who resigned on Aug. 19 just days before the school announced the NCAA's investigation, was cited for unethical conduct and given a one year show-cause penalty, which hinders his ability to secure employment at the college level.
The NCAA largely accepted Mississippi State's self-imposed sanctions, which included the loss of scholarships and other restrictions. According to the report released Friday a Mississippi State booster provided improper benefits to a recruit, including a car for $2,000 below the actual value.
The report says Mirando "became aware of the improper recruiting activity but did not report it to university officials."

Apparently the player was their CB Will Redmond.
I don't know how I feel about this dude.

Some other "insider" threw down the gauntlet to Grady by posting this in his thread:

quote:
1. There is nothing on Kiffin's radar at the collegiate level. IF (big IF), he leaves, it will be for an NFL position. He can stay at Bama is he chooses. Any report that he's in Saban's doghouse is just not true.
2. You won't hear anything else about potential coaching changes until this Sunday or later. It's now on lockdown (staff and players). So anything you hear/read is here-say, guesses, or flat out lies. I dare anyone in the media to ask Coach Saban about coaching changes for the rest of this week . . . That will make major headlines. Poop, tin horn, etc . . .
3. Muschamp is not in the best position to come coach the defense at Bama. That place is Pruitt's to lose. Fact. Having said that truth, it's also true that he has other opportunities and Bama might not be his top choice. One of those choices is staying at Georgia. He wouldn't take anything less than the DC position. He will not come back as a position coach. Some believe Saban will promote from the current great defensive staff and hire a position coach. It's not the sexy choice for fans, but probably the best for the program.
Just a few things I know that are facts.

Eh, he's still a young guy. There's no allegations he was involved; he just apparently found out about it after the fact and didn't turn the kid in. Hopefully, he's learned that lesson. I won't hold that against him.

His offense averaged 50 points a game this past season.
