FWIW there are a bunch of "insiders" posting in the DC Hot Board thread over on BOL saying that Pruitt is the hire and will be announced shorty after Kirby is offically hired at UGA. One guy even said he would be have a hand in preparing for the playoffs.

From the Aubs:

quote:

Ben Davis -

"Its a big factor for me in my mind, I think I can come in and contribute early"

"Its just the relationship I have with the coaches, and seeing the significance I could have there in playing early. Casanova McKinzy is leaving and Kris Frost is leaving"

Davis was also quoted saying he wants to official AU in January the same weekend that 5* Derrick Brown is visiting. Some believe he wants to recruit Brown to AU.

His relationship with Lance Thompson is very good. The two were close when Thompson was at UA and the relationship followed Thompson to AU.

Yesterday after Kirby to UGA was announced Davis took to twitter saying

"This is why I'm glad I'm waiting until signing day"

In the meantime, Scout confirmed D.J. Durkin is the next man up at Maryland amid plenty of additional rumors surrounding the Crimson Tide coaching staff on both sides of the ball.

"From what I know, he's a defensive coach. I play offense, so I didn't really pay it no mind, it doesn't change my decision," Diggs said of Durkin. "I'm still committed to Alabama. I like the coaches there right now, but 'Bama is always going to remain 'Bama. It's going to be the same, and that's what most of my decision went towards. Coaches changing and stuff like that, it doesn't effect me."

Diggs, who maintains his Alabama solidity despite ongoing contact with LSU and Maryland, says he's not likely to make any visits to campuses other than to Tuscaloosa.

"Most likely not, because I'm committed to 'Bama," he said. "I'm taking an official visit in January, I think it's the 23rd, something like that. I'm just getting ready for college, working out and training as hard as I can. Just want to be prepared.

Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss, and Tennessee are four of the schools that have offered Scout 100 offensive tackle Trey Smith.

The junior out of Jackson (Tenn.) University of Jackson School is 6-foot-5, 287 pounds and he shines on both sides of the ball right now, but offense is his future.
Smith is the No. 57-ranked prospect in 2017 and he is a lineman with size, flexibility, and the nasty streak you love to see. He prides himself in finishing blocks.

Now, with some many schools in pursuit of Smith, he has to find the right school. His sister went to Tennessee, so he has a connection there, and he talks about that, his visits this fall, what he is looking for in a school, and more in this interview above.

Trey Smith interview

He said he grew up an Alabama fan.

Tim Watts laid the smack down on some "insider" who claimed Pruitt would not be our next DC.

Another "insider" posted this (he did say he was a nobody, but talked to someone who is in the know):

quote:

Pruitt in town last night and most of the day today.

Cochran 50/50 feeling as of right now is he stays.

Just saw over on Magilla's place that TiderinFla says the staff thinks Cochran stays. He has a decent track record when providing info.

I think his source was Stoutland so he hasn't been as connected as he used to be, but that's still good news.
