All I know is that our staff decided to make him a priority. Was considered very underrated toward the end of the 2014 season. Lance Thompson did a good job storing him away and not telling people about him. Stock is sort of blowing up now.

Think D'Anfernee Jennings in play and how underrated sites had him.

Sheds blocks well like Jennings, Wennonah uses his quickness at NG where as Jennings played hybrid roles. Both are likely ends on the next level.

He's a big Auburn fan, so we'll see. Bama has been on him like crazy since he committed...

HOUSTON -- The SPE 15 Elite 100 Camp presented by GotMix.net kicked off Saturday morning at Westfield High School and several top prospects made their way to the event. Prospects from as far away as Florida and Mississippi were in attendance, and they made sure to leave their mark before the day was done. Here are the top performers from the event.

quote:

1 DE
Jeffery Simmons
Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County

Recruiting Wrap: Simmons is keeping an open mind but Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama have been pursuing him the hardest.

Performance: Simmons stood out from the beginning, so it was no surprise that he walked out with the MVP trophy. He not only looked the part at 6-foot-4 and 250-pounds, but he was timed at 4.79 and 4.81 in the 40-yard-dash and 4.68 in the shuttle. Simmons dominated an overmatched offensive line group during one-on-one drills. He was strong from beginning to end and it was clear he was the top talent at the event.

3 WR
Jerry Jeudy (2017)
Deerfield Beach (Fla.)

Recruiting Wrap: Jeudy is keeping his options open, but he did say Alabama and Miami have been recruiting him the hardest. He mentioned Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Florida State, Auburn and Georgia as potential summer camp options.

Performance: Jeudy came to Texas to show he could hold his own and he definitely did that on Saturday. His footwork was impressive as he tied defensive backs in knots with his route running. Jeudy was able to start and stop and blow by opponent after opponent. He created separation and he showed some sure hands on the day. Overall it was a strong performance for the rising junior.

With the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour and Rivals Quarterback Challenge Finals just around the corner, we challenged Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell to come up with five random thoughts from his Mind of Mike regarding the players attending the event. We'll call them The Farrell Five.

1. Commitment dominoes

Elijah Stove's Auburn commitment could impact other recruits.

Wow, talk about timing.

I was talking about how important it was for DT Julian Rochester to have committed to Georgia so he could do some crootin' of other UGA targets in Baltimore (and the potential for rooming with fellow in-state stud defensive tackle Derrick Brown).

And now, wideout Elijah Stove has pulled the trigger for Auburn. Why is this equally important? Nate Craig-Myers, the five-star former Auburn commit, is also headed to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge following a weekend visit to the Plains. And he's likely to be rooming with Stove as the two continue to bond, which is a huge deal for anyone screaming "War Damn Eagle" these days.

These events have become more and more important in recruiting each year and this year's showcase in Baltimore could have more affect than any of the previous Rivals100 Five-Star Challenges.

2. Watch the young QBs

Braxton Burmeister will be one to watch in Baltimore.

Turning to the Quarterback Challenge Finals for a moment, the underclassmen group is very interesting to watch as they jockey for position in the national 2017 rankings. Jake Allen just earned an offer from Miami this past weekend at its 7-on-7 tournament, Chase Brice our Atlanta Regional winner, has double-digit offers, while Sean Clifford, our Cincinnati winner, is heading towards double digits himself. But two of the west coast underclassmen, Tate Martell and Braxton Burmeister, who are both four-stars, could be ones to watch. Martell is a Rivals camp veteran and has done well at every stop he's been at while Burmeister impressed out in LA and was one of the best on the run. Keep an eye out for an underclassman winner.

4. TE's reach for stars

O.J. Howard has had the most dominating tight end performance in Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge history, setting the bar very high at our inaugural event in Atlanta. Can anyone dominate and impress like Howard did back in 2012, when he earned his fifth star after an amazing summer?

I'd say Isaac Nauta is the most likely candidate if he performs as he did at our Atlanta regional, but watch out for Naseir Upshur, who seems to be a gamer and could be the most effective tight end weapon out there. Nauta has the size and blocking ability to be the closer of the two to being the complete package and many compare the FSU commit to former 'Noles standout Nick O'Leary, but Upshur could be the more natural pass-catcher.

It would have been great to see Kaden Smith go at it with these two for top tight end honors, but the Stanford commit, who earned his invite with a dominant Dallas regional performance, had a family trip to Hawaii planned for the same weekend.

Macon (Noxubee County), Miss., strongside defensive end Jeffery Simmons put on a pass-rush clinic of sorts Saturday at the SPE Elite 100 camp in Houston, Texas, winning camp MVP honors and likely boosting his recruiting stock in the process. Simmons and Rivals100 defensive tackle/Houston commitment Ed Oliver were virtually unstoppable all day. Oliver is a five-star prospect. Simmons has flown a bit more under the radar, though the 6-foot-4, 251-pound three-star standout has piled up double-digit offers.

Macon, Miss., defensive end Jeffery Simmons claimed MVP honors at the SPE Elite 100 camp Saturday at Houston\'s Westfield High School. He will camp at Alabama and Ole Miss in the next six days. It's a great honor," Simmons said. "I was just trying to work hard out there." Simmons said recruiting is going "pretty good," adding he's recently picked up offers from Vanderbilt and Louisville. "I'm trying not to think about it," Simmons said. "I just thank God and play ball. I'm not letting recruiting get to me." The process, however, is heating up. Simmons will camp at Alabama early this week and then he's planning to travel to Ole Miss on Friday for the Rebels' elite camp. He's also hoping to visit LSU, Vanderbilt, Auburn and possibly others before the summer ends. Simmons said he doesn't have any favorites right now, though he said Ole Miss, Alabama and Mississippi State have been recruiting him the hardest. Auburn, he said, has increased the intensity of its recruiting effort as well in recent weeks. As for Ole Miss, Simmons said, "Every time I go up, it's like I belong there. They give me a vibe that I like. I always say, 'To get respect, you have to earn it,' and they've earned my respect. I enjoy them. It's like home when I visit there." Simmons said he's trying to keep an open mind in the recruiting process and "see how things play out." He said he's looking for a school with a strong physical therapy program, a coaching staff he gets along with and a campus environment that feels like a fit.

Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County defensive end Jeffery Simmons has received offers from across the region with Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama pursuing him the hardest. Auburn, Vanderbilt and Memphis have also picked up their interest.
He is not ready to narrow his list and he does not have a timetable for his recruiting process at this time. He plans to go to as many camps as he can this summer, and he does have a few things he is looking for in a future college home.

"It's just the environment, the coaching staff, and depth chart, really," Simmons said. "You have to look at the education, but also if you're going to play when you get there."
