I wonder if the fact that we got Harris scared him away.

He never seemed like a Bama lock. Unfortunately this probably hurts with landing his buddies.

QB Blake Barnett
School: Santiago High School (Corona, Calif.)
Size: 6-5, 200
Committed to: Alabama
WHAT STANDS OUT
Presence. Whatever “it” is, that oft-mentioned yet rarely explained factor that some quarterbacks seem to have, Barnett possesses. Keeps plays alive when there’s seemingly no remaining hope. Capable of converting a certain sack into a 60-yard touchdown strike. Thinks eight steps ahead of the defense at all times. Awesome accuracy. Unfazed by a crumbling pocket, he’s able to feel the rush and get the ball out of his hands. Combines Peyton Manning’s stature at the same age with a Russell Wilson escapability.
— Fundamentally sound. Incredible attention to detail with every aspect of the game. From catching the shotgun snap perfectly and securely every time to setting his feet to deliver the ball, does all the little things.

— Immense football IQ. Complete command of every aspect of the game. Understands defensive fronts, anticipates dogs, blitzes and stunts like a 15-year NFL veteran. Reads coverage early and makes the correct ball distribution decision often.
— Escapability. Never gives up on the play regardless of what unfolds in front of him. Dodges oncoming rushers with ease. Uses hesitation and head fakes while reversing field to live on and make a play.
— Full Arsenal. As I mentioned with Kyle Shurmur, the “he can make all the throws” is a term too often thrown around for quarterbacks that simply possess cannon arms. Barnett’s yet another incoming SEC slinger that’s able to hit all the clubs in his bag. Superior slants and shot throws, deep corners, and every other route in the tree that requires an advanced feel — he makes them all look easy.
WHAT NEEDS DEVELOPMENT
Girth. Barnett is wiry and sinewy strong, however he lacks the requisite bulk to stand up to the welcome awaiting him from SEC pass rushers. Once he has a year or two of Alabama’s training table and strength training tutoring from coach Scott Cochran. He’ll be more than ready to rip apart college secondaries all over the south.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Grooming. The mind is ready but the depth chart may not be willing at this point. Barnett can run Lane Kiffin’s offense right now but he’ll need to beat out a few crafty competitors if he’s going to take over the reins in 2015 or 2016. He may be best served to sit for a year or two, like AJ McCarron, before he rolls the Tide out of the tunnel.

Jeez, how many people does it take to help Cardele Jones put his helmet on?

They're workout buddies, but not really close friends.
Gary is the only one they've given a damn about, they haven't really went after Walker or Guarantano in the last few months. The QB favored tOSU before this, so he'll likely join him if he commits in January too.
Better backs out there, he was just discovered first...

With Harris on board it isn't a do or die situation for running backs next year. Without Harris we were going to have to land two elite running backs to make up for Drake and Henry leaving. Now we can take our time and land one.

Agreed, they can scour the nation looking for the right back. There'll be some good instate options, but many of them have projections to different positions based on their development.
tOSU has another top 10 RB committed for 2016, so interested to see how that dynamic goes. Same for Ole Miss, what happens when schools start playing that against them?

We'll get a good one next year regardless.

Can't blame the kid for going there. tOSU's OC is actually recognizing the running game is owning the game and he's feeding the beast. Kiffin would call a bubble screen.

this is tOSU's OC's last game. I think he's going to coach at Houston next year.

Anyone else hate chris fowler. God what an annoying homo. He is obnoxiously pulling for OSU

Would be a big get if we could steal him out of LA

In a good spot for some OTs in 2016, along with Allen and EJ Price, Greg Little is even showing more interest.
A&M lost their OL coach and Little has already planned 2 visits to Bama, one being an official.
From the same HS as Alec Morris, and his dad Derrick Little played with Christian Miller's dad at USCe.
Anything can happen...

Jesus, they make Barnett sound like the greatest high school quarterback to ever live.

I read it after I posted it. This wasn't from a Bama site, I swear.
I'm starting to think that tOSU has a walk-on on their scout team that is better than any of our qbs on roster.

Well then they should have put a little more effort into the Sugar Bowl. Just like last year, we were fricking embarrassed. You'd think the OU game would have prevented a letdown, but I guess not.
