Nick Saban is known for using unique recruiting techniques and this week was no different. Georgia's top-ranked commitment, 5-star WR Terry Godwin, is fresh off a 3 day visit to Bama for the Tide's camp. Godwin tells BamaOnline that Saban allowed him to blow the air horn, which cues campers to change stations.

"During the workouts, I'd walk around with Coach Saban. Me and him would have a conversation and he'd let me blow the horn for the rotations of the camp. They were saying they've never seen anyone blow the horn besides him and me. I was the first person besides him to blow the horn," Godwin said.

What did Godwin think of blowing the horn?

"It was great. It made me feel special."

Gus will probably have someone blow something else as a countermeasure.

We made Matthew Burrell's top 15

quote:

On Wednesday evening, four-star offensive lineman Matt Burrell named his final 15. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and Iowa made the cut for the Woodbridge (VA) C.D. Hylton standout.

The Crystal Ball reads 92-percent for Ohio State, four-percent for Alabama and four-percent for Texas for the U.S. Army All-American.

I don't know whether to or at the top 15

So stupid. Might as well list off all of the offers you have in order of their preseason ranking.

AUBURN, Alabama -- Trent Thompson is usually on top.

Whether the five-star defensive tackle prospect is flattening a scrambling quarterback, leading the nation's recruiting rankings or dominating recruiting boards across the SEC, he carries plenty of hype.

Georgia has long been considered the favorite to land the 6-foot-4, 292-pounder out of Albany, Ga., and he's had the Bulldogs No. 1 on his list for more than a year.

"They were my first offer," Thompson said during his visit to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend. "They have a good atmosphere and everything."

After Georgia, Thompson shuffles his other favorite schools quite often. On Saturday, he listed Auburn second, Florida State third and indicated interest in Alabama and Clemson.

Auburn, he says, is recruiting him harder than any other school.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Growing up in Jefferson City, Missouri, Hale Hentges watched a little bit of Missouri and the Kansas City Chiefs and a lot of Notre Dame.

But Hentges had his eye on Alabama and head coach Nick Saban. It culminated when the four-star tight end committed to Alabama on May 25. He was being recruited by Alabama before his junior season and got an offer in February.

He made two trips down to Tuscaloosa, with the final one being right before Easter.

"I had been feeling this way (wanting to commit) for probably a month or so, ever since my second visit down there right before Easter," Hentges said. "After this week, I also feel even better about it."

Hentges said he rooted "a little" for Notre Dame while growing up, but was a fan of the SEC.

"I enjoyed watching (Alabama) play," Hentges said. "I enjoyed the SEC in general. I wasn't really a fan and no one really around here is fan, but I enjoyed the style that they play and all the tradition that their program has."

Now, he's 100 percent Crimson and White. The only camps he'll be at this summer are ones that his high school team participates in. Hentges said he plans on making another trip to Tuscaloosa this summer, but hasn't nailed down a date.

This weekend, he'll be at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore.

"I'm ready just to test myself against some of the best players that are available and see how I stack up," Hentges said. "Also, get used to playing at a high level because that's what I'm going to need to do in college."

Hentges will be one of several recruits committed to Alabama who are slated to participate. That group includes defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick and Deionte Thompson, defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter, offensive lineman Lester Cotton and Richie Petitbon and receiver Shawn Burgess-Becker and Calvin Ridley.

Several more of the country's top prospects will be in attendance.

"If I get a chance to talk to any of the guys that are considering Alabama, I'll definitely put in some good words," Hentges said. "I'm also looking forward to meeting some of my teammates."

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Hentges said he tries to be an "even mix" when it comes to blocking and receiving at his position.

"I can put my hand down pretty effectively and also stretch the field," Hentges said.

Former Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly visited Alabama this weekend.

Kelly, the nephew of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, posted a photo on his Facebook account from his unofficial visit to Alabama. He visited the school with a few of his East Mississippi Community College teammates, including defensive lineman D.J. Jones and former LSU defensive back Jeryl Brazil, according to East Mississippi head coach Buddy Stephens.

Kelly landed at East Mississippi after he was dismissed by Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney for conduct detrimental to the program. Kelly argued with coaches during Clemson's spring game and was involved in an alleged off-field incident that involved a car accident with a former Miss South Carolina.

Kelly was considered the frontrunner to replace Tajh Boyd as Clemson's starting quarterback this season. Instead, he will compete with Todd Mays to start at the defending junior college national champion. After a year at East Mississippi, Kelly will have two years of eligibility remaining.

He was the nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback coming out of high school in 2012, according to Rivals.com. He had multiple SEC offers, including from Alabama and LSU, but chose Clemson.

Kelly doesn't have a new offer from Alabama thus far. He also recently visited Ole Miss.

Alabama doesn't have a quarterback committed in its class of 2015, but is actively pursuing numerous quarterbacks.

I don't even know if he's been to camp yet. I haven't seen him listed as a visitor anywhere.

I think Bucc got bad info.
