Esman pitched really good. I think she could be a really good #2 pitcher for us honestly but she needs games under her belt.

Jaala Torrence No-Hitter Highlights Pair of Saturday Shutouts for Alabama Softball
Torrence throws the first no-hitter of her career and the 42nd in program history
A no-hitter from junior Jaala Torrence highlighted a pair of shutout victories for Alabama softball Saturday afternoon at the T-Mobile Crimson Classic.
Torrence gave Alabama (15-3) a stellar start in the circle vs. Robert Morris (5-7), throwing her first career no-hitter, the first for any Crimson Tide pitcher this season and the 42nd in program history. The offense backed her up to the tune of 10 runs over 4.0 innings at the plate, including an eight-run outburst in the fourth. In the second game of the day against Longwood (9-7), Alabama capitalized on an early Lancer fielding error to put up four runs in the second inning, later adding an insurance run in the fifth to bring the score to its final tally of 5-0.
Jaala Torrence (4-2) allowed just one baserunner in the win over Robert Morris, striking out four, while Montana Fouts (8-1) fanned 12 in the complete-game victory over Longwood. Kenleigh Cahalan was a combined 3-for-6 with four RBIs on the day, including a home run in game one. Bailey Dowling also drove in four runs on the day, with three coming off a pinch-hit home run against the Colonials.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"Throughout the entire history of our program, if someone threw well on a Friday night, then the next pitcher on Saturday always wants to go out there and do even better. It's always been like that with our entire pitching staff. When I found out that it was the 42nd no-hitter in program history, I really couldn't believe it because that is a lot of no-hitters. Give credit to Jaala [Torrence], Lance [McMahon] and [Ally] Shipman for catching and then having someone like Montana [Fouts] who gives up a hit and then decides to strike out seven in a row after that."
From Jaala Torrence
"I think the whole bullpen just came out this weekend with an attack mentality. Today was great and my defense was firing me up. Everything pieced together perfectly. We talked about different things we need to work on personally and today we had goals to execute, which we did. It's a good feeling to achieve our goals that we've been working on the past few days. The atmosphere was great, and I absolutely love my team - they made me feel so special."

Esman has the lowest ERA. Our team BA is just over 300 which seems low considering the mid majors we have played. We only have 5 main starters with the AB required who have a BA over 300. I think there are 4 more whose BA does not mean the minimum standards to count towards national stats.

Montana Fouts Throws Eighth Perfect Game in Alabama Softball History as Tide Posts Two Shutouts
The Crimson Tide stretched its shutout streak to six-straight games with two more on Sunday
Alabama pitching continued making headlines on the third and final day of the T-Mobile Crimson Classic, with Montana Fouts throwing the eighth perfect game in program history as part of a pair of Sunday shutouts over Longwood and Mercer.
Fouts went 18-up, 18-down in a six-inning run rule victory for Alabama (17-3) over Longwood (10-9) in the opening game of the day, striking out 14. The perfect game is the eighth in program history and third of Fouts' career, previously contributing to a combined perfect game at Alabama State (Feb. 12, 2021) and throwing a solo perfect game against UCLA in the 2021 Women's College World Series (June 4, 2021). The offense saved her an inning of work, scoring seven runs before Jordan Stephens capped it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.
In the second game against Mercer (6-13), the Tide broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the third and started to add some distance with a four-run fourth before a bases-loaded wild pitch in the fifth sealed the 8-0 win. Alex Salter (2-0) continued the weekend trend of excellent starts in the circle, allowing just two hits with no walks over 5.0 shutout innings in the circle.
At the plate, Ashley Prange was a combined 4-for-7 with two home runs, four runs scored and five RBIs. Bailey Dowling was 3-for-6 while Jenna Johnson also slugged a home run, her second of the season. On the weekend, Prange was 6-for-13 (.462) with seven RBIs while Dowling and Jordan Stephens were close behind with four hits each.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"We haven't allowed a run since the Southern Miss game on Wednesday, so kudos to [Alabama pitching coach] Lance [McMahon] and all four pitchers and both catchers. It's a 50-50 proposition out there, and to throw it that well against anyone in college softball these days is a heck of a feat. Montana's perfect game was huge. She just keeps doing it, she is amazing to watch."
From Montana Fouts
"It felt pretty good. We had the opportunity to play the same teams multiple times this weekend and that is what it's going to be like when we get to SEC play, regionals, super regionals and the WCWS. I went into today's game with a postseason mindset. My defense had my back and we scored a bunch of runs. It was just an overall good day for us."

Alabama hasn’t allowed a run in 38 straight innings. BIG shoutout to the entire pitching staff (@MontanaFouts, @LaurenEsman, @alexroxx13, and @jaala_t10) and the work that @lmcmahon7 has put in with that group this year.
The McMahonions (McMahoniacs?) are thriving.

Those of you in the Birmingham area have a chance to catch the softball team on Wednesday night at UAB. I haven’t been to that stadium in several years but as I recall it is tiny. Bring a chair - unless they’ve made improvements there were 2 sets of metal bleachers and you couldn’t sit there unless you were a season ticket holder. Hopefully Bama will make short work of both of these teams before heading to Texas for the weekend.
