My gut feeling is that we'll sign a good safety

LSU fans are already saying the reason Hootie decommited is because Saban to Texas.
Those fricking fans.....SMH.
A few of them anyway..not saying all of them think this way but of course some will spin anything possible at the thought of Saban to Texas.

That is some really bad news. Our official visits don't seem to have the same power as other schools.
Others have players committing, while we get silence and well now a de-commitment from a very important piece.

With the decommitment our class fell to number 1
Poor us

Uh, I'm very calm. That was an accurate observation.

Count me as one of those who cares less about pointless class rank and more about addressing important needs in our class.

This doesn't happen all the time...It's just one kid who's heart wasn't at Alabama.

I never said de-commitments happen all the time, I said it happened this once. I did say we don't get kids rushing to commit like others and usually we hear silence.
I have never said this is the end of the world. I said this is a bad thing. If you don't think this is a bad thing and needs addressing, then I don't know what to tell you.

Plenty of time left to find a good safety man. They'll still pursue Hootie and Hampton and probably turn up the heat on Holland Fisher and Davion Hall just in case. This is my guess anyway

Congrats and good luck to Hootie no matter where he ends up. This is not the end of the world people. One persons lost is someone elses gain. IN SABAN I TRUST!!! RTR

I didn't say it wasn't a bad thing. Obviously a 4 star decommiting is a bad thing.

It would be cool for us to get some good news in recruiting. No, Pettway is not good news.

From Scout(Free Article)
Laurence "Hootie" Jones committed to Alabama on December 2, and backs off the pledge just 16 days later. He needs more time before a final decision.
Monroe (La.) Neville prospect Laurence Jones, a.k.a. "Hootie," is now considering several schools about three weeks before he begins his college career.
The four-star safety and December graduate committed to Alabama earlier this month, before backing off of the pledge on Wednesday.
"I just de-committed from Alabama." he said on Twitter. "I just need more time!"
Jones confirmed the news to Scout.com shortly thereafter.
LSU was the main competition for Alabama prior to his early-December announcement, and he had already taken his official to Baton Rouge. This past weekend, along with fellow Louisiana prospects and current Crimson Tide commitments Cameron Robinson and Cameron Sims, Jones and his parents took an official visit to Tuscaloosa.
"Hootie had a fun visit and he really had fun watching his daddy," Jessica Carr, Jones' mother, said this week.
She was among the surprised by the decision.
Going forward, however, the No. 7 safety on Scout says that it's not just a two-horse race between SEC West rivals though he's still considering both Alabama and LSU. When asked what schools had a shot for his services, the response read:
"Everywhere," he said.
Jones has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, TCU and Texas, among others. There is no apparent timetable for a decision, though a large contingent of Louisiana prospects will announce decisions at the Under Armour All-America game on January 2.

I agree. But recently it has been bad. I love the commits we have, but I hate seeing people decommit. I also think CJ is all rebel bear.
