I'm sorry, is this not the coronavirus thread?

I for one think they need to start school as normal and deal with it like the flu unless they have the evidence to back up not safe to return. If a kid gets sick send them home until tested and results. Do not shut the school down.
The problem is it will be plan B with hybrid model in place for most of the country with the fear of a second wave. Then the first time a student gets it shut down the school for 2 weeks.
Since Plan B is going to be the option here in NC I would rather just go with plan C remote and by Oct 1 go for plan B and by Jan plan A for full return. I think it would be an easier transition for the kids and allow us to see numbers for all concerns to decrease to make the majority happy. This going part time and then come home back and forth is not viable for the kids nor working parents. It allows for to much uncertainty.

In Florida the plan is for the positive test to stay home. Not shut the school down. That's why they gave other options up front, so they can make the decision and don't question ours.

In NC the Gov said basically the same thing in regards to someone testing positive but the local systems can determine how they proceed.
This whole time any school system and county can create their own plan for reopening schools and business but must meet at a minimum what the governor requires. Many counties in regards to reopening are a lot stricter and they seem to be for schools as well.

And some counties have very few cases vs. counties with a bunch. Miami Dade might be able to change, but it probably won't last long.

Washington (AFP) - An experimental COVID-19 vaccine that is being developed by US biotech firm Moderna induced antibody responses against the coronavirus in all 45 participants of a human trial, a paper published Tuesday showed. Moderna had previously published "interim results" from its Phase 1 in the form of a press release on its website in May, which revealed the vaccine had generated immune responses in eight patients. Though these were called "encouraging" by Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious diseases official, the full study had been eagerly awaited by the scientific community.
Some promising news

Since you like to research, type in Florida mandate going back to school.
I'll be waiting.
Well the charter school my kid goes to is offering brick and mortar AND a virtual option. I was told 85% of parents voted for brick and mortar but since they had developed the virtual option to finish spring semester, they are leaving it in place for those that wish to use it. My personal opinion is that there is a significant chunk of parents that voted for brick because they have no alternative for child care that allows them to work. They may not want to send their kids back, but there isn’t an option.

NC even though plan B for opening in August, which is hybrid model, will require all students no matter the age to wear mask.

Let’s hope that none of the students have ptsd and can wear a mask
